Yo! I've FINALLY changed my chain and sprocket. Feels good man. Nice and tight. lol. But I think I need to change the EO and maybe spark plugs soon even though I've did less than 1000km since I got my bike cos it feels a bit draggy. Maybe open the pipe up a bit too. My engine and pipe all very the quiet man. Maybe only la.

Just about to get a new set of tyres for my shadow. Any good recommendation for me?? Must it be sticky? Currently using DUNLOP by previous owner. Not so fantastic after all. PLS HELP!! CHEERS.

I thought Dunlop tire was pretty good on my Shadow Ace. Probably your experience lies with the tires tread which could have possibly worn out? Otherwise, you may wish to try out Bridgestone or Metzeler tire which, in my opinion is pretty good too.

I was using a Dunlop for the Dragstar 400. It is pretty good even for Wet roads. I was told there are 2 type of Dunlop Tyres, one from Brazil and one from cant remember which country. I was told not to take the Brazillian ones as the rubber use is a bit tougher.

I also kena! Hard to kick into neutral right? Try adjusting the cable near the clutch. Can tighten. But also do get it checked. Isaac said if it's cable fray then it's gonna be s**ts. I going to check mine soon but not so fast.

Frayed cable a bit hard to check. Might as well change the whole thing so that there'll be piece of mind. I was told there's a correct way of lubing the clutch cable but most mechanics just anyhow do it. That's what I was told, so if you're a mechanic, please don't flame me.

thats another thing to take note....

but wat its pissing me off is the lever where ur feet is.... the one that shifts the gears..... instead of goin up and down.... there is do much play that it can go left and right.....

nothing too serious... just dun have a good feel....think the "cushion" for the joint is worn.... not sure if can replace or must get new lever.....

hahaha

Sometime hard to kick to neutral is due to EO, change your EO and it sometime fixes the problem.

Ah Chong from Planet Motors told me before, some joker accidentally pour too much EO into the bike and this will also cause the gear hard to engage.... :thumb:

Just changed EO b4 Fraser's trip so confirm not EO. :) Anyway before that was ok, on the way back then got that problem. Every time had to switch off engine then can engage N. But after adjusting the tension now ok.

need advice from you guys!

i've been using my ride for half a year now.

recently, my bike keeps dying off while im on the road. its like the combustion will suddenly go off for a cycle or two, and then refires. sometimes it goes totally dead, i'll have to quickly clutch in and try restarting my engine (and sometimes it doesnt restart and i'll have to stop by the side of the road and wait..)

i went to the motorshop, and they couldnt figure out the defect either.

this problem went on for 2 weeks, and 2 days ago, it finally decided not to restart. had to have it tow back to the motorshop.

the mechanic said it could be that the fuel pump's faulty, and so i went ahead with the agreement of replacing it, at a cost of $150.

right now its still in the motorshop. any of you guys there experienced the same thing?

also, any recommendations on where to send your shadow for maintenance?

Ya. Sounds like petrol is not feeding, but I could be wrong. Don't take me for an expert. Have you tried Rosli? He's pretty good with cruiser type bikes

What bike are u riding bro? (of yeah, just saw that ur riding a shadow)

If its a steed, there's a fuel pump.

If its a shadow, i do not think there's a fuel pump.

Ok.. just found out that there's a fuel pump in a shadow. :cheeky:

First, does it run with the choke on and have to throttle for high RPM with the choke off? Since you are already agreeable with the change of new fuel pump; you may want the mechanic to check for the following as well:

1) Fuel Filter

2) Fuse Box

3) Battery

4) Sparkplugs

5) Air Filter

6) Carburetor

7) Idle Jet

There may be other areas of check I could have missed out but, your mechanic should be adequate enough on the knowledge of this field.

Hey, you coming for the caving trip?

thanks for the valuable information guys!

nights: i seldom pull the choke to start the engine, even when my bike's not utilised over the weekends. and sometimes only one outta the two piston fires up and i'll just twist the throttle a little to gently induce more fuel/air to allow the unfired chamber to start (takes about 3-6 seconds after initial engine start up)

i'm collecting my bike tomorrow. 2 days without it around me and im missing her badly already. keeping my fingers crossed

zero degrees: and yes im heading over to planet motor to check it out! =) not forgetting rosli
