wah i long long time never come in and I'm blasted by all the debates.

 

Well I dun see us as arguing amongst ourselves but simply going through what most christians do that is to commit ourselves to knowing the bible better. YOur debates are great and I am very encouraged to read all the proper citations or rather applicable citations from the bible which is the RIGHT thing to do. When in doubt go to God in prayer. I believe in the power of prayer...

 

I just wanna say I haven't gone to church for 5weeks now and I'm already kicking myself for missing out church for so long, I've got aunties and uncles msging me to come back. they scared i backslide.:lol:but i always make it a point to read the Daily bread. Awesome texts!

 

At least you don't log in once a week like I do. If you can, go back to church for spiritual nourishment. I've missed church a couple of weeks and I can feel the spiritual difference in my life.

 

Jack and his wife Irene were not Christians when they tied the knot. They only became Christians very, very recently -- less than a year to be precise. His affair with that 22-year old model started about 2 years ago, and all his other misdeeds were done before he came to know Christ. But the moment he became a Christian and the Holy Spirit indwelled him, he began to realise that it was not right for him to continue with the relationship, and it was only a matter of time before he knew that he had to break off with that girl. The Holy Spirit convicts the believer that his body is God's temple and not to defile it.

 

I watched the press conference and give my whole-hearted support for what he and Irene did. They are considered one-flesh in the eyes of God, and their appearance together as a unit reflected that truth. It was especially not easy for her to appear before the press and she fainted as a result. But it took lots of courage on their part, and because they honour God, God will honour them. Yes, the world may mock and scorn them and say that everything was staged, but God knows the sincerity of their hearts and will definitely cause something good to come out of all this.

 

So are all men pigs that are prone to stray? My honest answer to that is yes. Even the most decent-looking and family-oriented person like Jack Neo did. And especially so if the man is in a position of power or influence. Such a man has a tendency to think too highly of himself and his boundaries or out-of-bound markers start to become fuzzy. What makes it worse is there are women out there who are attracted to men of status.

 

The problem with many marriages breaking down is due to expectations not being fulfilled. The husband has certain expectations of his wife and if she does not meet them, the evil one will start putting thoughts in his head about this other woman who is "better" than his wife. Similarly, the wife has certain expectations of her husband and if he does not meet them, the devil will likewise put thoughts in her head that perhaps there is this other guy who is more thoughtful than her husband.

 

So what is the solution?

We need a third party for a marriage to work -- and His name is Jesus. Ecc 4:12 tells us that "a threefold cord is not easily broken". Rather than placing expectations upon each other, both husband and wife should instead depend on Jesus to fulfill their needs. He is more than able to do so. And the sweet irony is that as we look to Him for fulfillment and draw nearer to Him, we actually end up drawing nearer to our spouse!

 

Meanwhile, let's keep Jack and Irene and their 4 children in prayer. Many of the J Team staff and crew are not yet believers, and I believe God is able to supernaturally restore their marriage (now that both of them are Christians) and through their testimony lead others to Him as well.

 

So that's the story on Jack's side. His greatest test now is dealing with the consequences of his past. It won't be easy but when he succeeds, it'll be a major breakthrough in his life.

NO DISCUSSION OF DOCTRINES....!!

 

My worst fear of such conflicts has happened. Yup, as said before (over a year ago), I also want Lightriders to be non-denomination group. A balance is a must. I've been to both pentecostal churches that believe in praying in tongues & healing to traditional churches that believe miracles stop at the Book of Revelation. It's through such minor details about whether praying in tongues and healing are real and acceptable that caused a conflict between me and a traditional church that it ended on a very bad note. It's a long story and I won't explain here in case it goes off topic.

 

I still prefer focusing on the major details like bible study (whether by topics or by Books) and prayer so that we can help each other to grow spiritually.

 

I know I'm in no position to post this part 'cos I wasn't there at the meeting and I didn't even read every post carefully but it saddens me to see a godly group being conflicted and divided through such issues.

If you heard from someone in traditional church who told you miracles stop at book of revelation - he may have read it somewhere & not necessary represents his church.

 

Actually sometimes ppl here are confused what is doctrine & what is not.

 

Last sat at the orphanage, I spoken to a student who is third year sudent of Spore Bible College (very traditional & conservative BC) . I asked him - were you taught any doctrines that healing & speaking in tongues stopped 2000 yrs ago? Answer is no. Any Bible verses say no more tongues or healing after Revelation? Answer is no for both. I also spoke to a ex-Bible Presybertian church elder in my church - same answer. To these traditional churches , there neither condoning nor rejecting; they are silent on all these. So you see, these are truth. Even my younger brother who is a staunch bible-presbyterian church elder, who is stricken with incurable psoriasis for 25 years, was healed 6 months ago; the minute he believed in James 5:14-15. Forget about all those doctrines & theology - just look at the physical truth!

 

 

There are some questionable religious websites who strongly debate that healing & all gifts of the Spirit stops 2000 yrs ago - but that obviously is in direct contradiction to the scripture. If you analyse the explanations - you will see that they are based on human assumptions & the assumptions contradict scriptures. They are lies to confuse those who are weak in their bible knowledge.

 

Even my friend James Ho (Fazer 600), who is a bible presbyterian church cell grp leader said that healing do happens once a while. I think some of you met him in the Pengyabong trip. He also said the same thing as the SBC student I met.

 

I hope now the truth will set all of us free - There is no doctrines against healings in the major traditional churches I know of.
