Hi ppl, I didn't disappear, just like you said I was checking the forum for a week but no one replied than I got busy going for classes than I see so many replies. Haha only can say bad timing. Anyway, after thinking up, down, left, right and centre and decided to get a scooter since comfort and ease is my main concern. Of course $$ very impt as well.

Looking at vespa or piaggio scooter at the moment. 1st hand xxx. Saw an offer for vespa ET8 2year old abt 4k mileage 2nd owner for $4500. Reasonable?? Well I've been walking around in carparks looking at bikes, intended to get X1 initially but than changed my mind again...

Buying a bike is so tough......

Anyway thanks for all the replies to the tread :cheeky:

Posted

I'm looking at places that I can, rather costly for 1st hand between 6k to 8k, unless someone can suggest some cheaper place or a good 2nd hand.......

See.... I'm here

maybe by doing that, the bike is easier to start.

Yo Spec3FBA,

Rode a YBR125 for 1-1/3 years. Still riding it, but not as often now.

Some comments on it.

1. It's very fuel efficient. Used to get 43 km/l, but now can only manage 40 km/l (suspect due to new tires, but not sure if there are other factors). Together with its fuel capacity (12 liters), you can safely ride 450 km before refueling.

2. Absolutely no power/torque, so forget about it if you're a speed freak. However, it can manage 90-100 km/h fine. However, I find it most comfortable to ride at 50-70 km/h.

Some personal experience:

1. Default tires are not good. Skids even on dry roads when you brake hard. Skids easily on wet roads. Changed my tires after a year and they were much better.

2. Brake is not very strong, so keep a longer braking distance, especially on wet roads.

3. Battery became weak after 9 months. Suspect it's due to my short daily trips.

4. Chain became very loose recently and I had to tighten it twice in two months. Suspect it's due to the way I "throw" the clutch.

Lastly, I think the fairing makes the bike look good in photos, but it doesn't really look that good in real life.

spec3FBA... whoa.... im impressed by ur "bike language"... u reali noe ur stuff!! btw, wats EO n F.C.??

Wrong type of EO(semi synthetic for new bikes or those from petrol station that sells way cheap even its branded) will effect your F.C.

- i realli need to learn alot about bikes! these terms may be basic terms but to me.... im still learning lah... pls be patient :D

Ahh..... it has been a month and I hasn't gotten a bike.... this goes on I'm going to forget how to ride one.....

Not seeing any good bargain for 2nd hand scooter around  Getting a 1st hand will def burn my pocket....

I did examine the YBR before, find it's body a bit too long for me meaning I'll have to lean forward slightly when riding and the look very ancient in a way though I didn't mind that but I did mind the riding position

Anyway it's def a scooter for me, anymore pondering and I'll be getting a class 2a without riding a 2b...... Anyone going to the bike shop please help me ask around for 2nd hand vespa scooter...please...... :help:. Will be very very grateful.

Hopefully can get my dad to go bike shopping with me tomorrow... any idea if the bike shops along bukit merah wil be open? Friend told me they have 2nd hand scooter there.

Cannot be.. YBR125 specs is almost identical to the CG125; can use the school's bike as reference.

I prefer the YBR125 to the CG125 due to the fairing and the sports rims. Another "sporty" looking one is the Suzuki EN125.

If you take away the fairing, yah, it looks very ah-pek. That's one strike against CG125.

nhyone -> Your bike looks really "l33t" (maybe because of the number plate). Oops. :offtopic:

Anyway, I'm currently riding the Suzuki EN125 for coming to 3 months already. What nhyone mentioned about the YBR125 regarding the fuel efficiency, tires and power applies to the EN125 as well.

CG125, I liked the quality controls on the bike but the it cost more and you can't run tubeless tyres which to me is a safety issue.

YBR125, It's actually a tough choice for me between this and the EN125. I prefered the version without the head fairing but it isn't available locally except at the test centres.

EN125, I decided to get this bike after i get to see the YBR125 side by side with it. This bike has a slightly bigger build (maybe because of the bigger fuel tank) compared to the YBR125. I prefer something bigger because i'm also bigger in size. The YBR125 looks "skinny" to me (like the RXZs).

hey kelvar, thx for you input...hmm... another choice to add in... :D by any chance do u have a pic of ur bike to post, to share w us here... have u seen the CG125 side by side w YBR?

me too prefer "bigger" bikes...simply looks more stable to me compared to "skinny" bikes... hehehehe... since, can only ride on a =

You can find pictures of the EN125 here.

I didn't get to see the CG125 in quite a few shops i visited except at Boon Siew therefore i didn't get a chance to compare. The CG125 cannot run tubeless because of the spoke rims which cannot maintain an air tight seal.

Well, I don't actually had a problem riding CG125, I'm from BBDC, quite comfy, speed wise well as trainee never need the speed except for once when the instructor wanted us to chase after him and he just went ZOOMMING AWAY.....quite fun:cheeky: Maybe I'm commenting on the wrong bike.....Opps

Still hopeful for good lobang... I will persevere......
