So..... if we can't beat them...do we join them???

Rather I would think that the organisers should be very firm on this.

Its an issue of integrity and if found to be guilty, the rider and the owner of the machine should be banned from competing in future races.

I see it as pointless and a waste of time to conduct pre-race tech scrutineering while such forms of 'cheating' is allowed to go unpunished.

We should use the Tuas track as an opportunity to produce respectable racers... not liars and cheaters.

Now that the Tuas track racing scene is in its infancy...lets get it right from the start, especially the integrity and honesty part first.

I think they ought to be strict on the super stock class. Not the usual categories.

Having said that, its really hard to enforce the strict scrutineering. What the SMSA guys been scrutineering this far is very much the safety aspects of the race. Which is a very good starting point. Enforcing 100% scrutineer is just waaaaay to taxing to do so.

If they were to be that strict on the other classes, I believe, within a race, 99.9% of bikes will be banned from racing. Ha. A lot of times, as the riders are sponsored, banning the riders is just unfair. It'll too, have a very detrimental effect on the development of the motorsports tuning industry.

See the Tuas track as a launch pad on the motor tuning industry also. With the prospering of the said industry, all will get to benefit.

Without free rein on modifications, bike shops won't wanna participate, without the key players (bike shops), you won't get sponsorships for riders, without sponsorship, you won't get (much) participants, without participants, you won't get race event sponsor (hong leong), without sponsor, you won't have a race series.

So pls all. Its a very vicious cycle. Affects more then anyone would've thought. I might be very wrong. my 2pence anyway.

Cheers all.

You want to find out who is the best rider......

Shop selects their own rider, pays to Hong Leong a certain amount of participation and machine rental fee, for tyres, fuel and wear and tear fees perhaps.

Hong Leong provides and maintains all the bikes in the pool. Rider draw lots to see which machine they will use for that race from that pool.

Next race, all draw lots again.

Confirm it will be a good rider that wins the series...and nothing to do with illegal race modifications.

Just like in my earlier post, I am throwing out my thoughts for sharing only, I have no intention to start any flaming wars or whatever.... I got no time for it coz I am not taking part in those races... yet.

NO prob dude. My eariler post is not directed at anyone. Neither am I about to start a flaming war. I'm earning too much to do that. :-p :cheeky: Joking.

Just sharing my 2pence. Anyway, nice suggestion you have. That's a cut-and-dried proposition used in Msia and Thailand One-Make Races. Many local folks have been campaigning for it since last year. Have always ended in sad stories. I shall not go into the details. As I've said, its a vicious cycle. Money makes the world go round.

I stand corrected. IMHO, I feel while its good to have a one-make (strictly scrutineered, super stock) race, I think SMSA should still allow free rein on the specs of the bikes participating in the other classes (other then superstock). I couldn't imagine any shops splurging the money to 'groom' a rider, but not their shop.

Of course, in an Ideal World, the series should cultivate new talents blah blah etc.. Which SMSA had too, taken steps to do just that by selecting a novice rider to race in the Yamaha Asean Race; based on performance in the cub series and on the SELECTION test itself where all prospective riders gets to clock the fastest lap with the same bike. But all these takes loads of money. Sillypore is simply too small a market for the manufacturer to be investing in this much moolah. Unless the govt decides to step in and fund it.

As in the case of the msia (thailand also similar) T135 one-make series, the one rider is fielded from every team. And they (rider/ team) don't pay to race in that particular series. Fully paid for by HL Msia. (As far as I know). Bikes/ Mods paid for/ maintained by HL Msia. Its primarily done to promote the bike. Cos they've got big markets there. Not sillypore.

Even then, they still do have their full-blown race categories whereby teams are still cutting each other's throat when it comes to modifications.

Again, another 2pence. Ignore my postings if they're deemed too pragmatic for the 'IDEAL World'.

Peace.
