gatsby wet and hard gel... uncle mepkoh you are more extreme than me :cheeky:

thus, you have to find the highest point of your hose

refer to suggestion..the hole should be:

1. some distance away from the pump..lets say min 5 cm.

2. make it on the vertical part of the tube..

under equilibrium condition..the hole should be above this oil level..

so when u pump..the oil will flow ..on the way down the vertical part..it will go down rather than out of the tube...of course the hole is small..u cant even see it once the pick is withdrawn...try and eror will determine the size of this hole which directly correspond to the depth that the pick is push in..

I already posted drawings to install air holes in a previous post some pages back, but the drawings were pretty small because they were not scaled for the thumbnails.

Here is the expanded version of one of the same drawings.

review no.1: don't put the oiling tip too close to where the sprocket and chain meet... my sprocket ate my oiling tip! :giddy:

alright thanks thanks... iszt a good idea to use a sissiors to snip a tiny hole instead of using something sharp to poke it?

tip for oiler...

as the control of the drippimg oil is not accurate....

checks have to be made.

1. the equilibiurm level...

2. the dripping rate...

3. patience my man..

my oilimg point keeps on drifting....as the swing arm is round and just next to the chain,,

a certain amount of oil gets in to the cable ties/oiling tube area..and it does move..

i notice that the oiling tip is discoloured (black) most likely the chain is hitting it...while it drifts..phantoms shouldnt have this problem,,as your swing arm is rectangular in cross section and is high up above the chain.

those oiler which cannot control the dripp rate...my recommendation is to keep it simple..

forget it. Open the valve to max...and all the oil dozed should be dispense within 20 minutes of dosing...this method is not so good for those who ride short distances ...

after the ride..the oil will continue dripping...the solution is to control the dosing qty..u can reduce the dose qty by reducing the stroke of the pump .

Please be patience...it takes a bit of time to have the first drip ...the vibrations o the bike will make the flow easier once u started to ride..to ensure the oiling to take place

just compare the oil level in the tubes with the equilibium level..or the oiliness of the chain.

no scissors..get a pick or sharp point to do job....

the oiling tip ..u will notice the tube is longer than the steel wire in it...well if the sprockets eat the tube..okay..until it starts to eat the steel wire..then it is trouble so watch out for this to happen and correct immediately..

that is the reason extra cable ties and tube are in the kit..

so are u all satisfied with the oiler.?.. i am..

oiler tip...

why is oling tip steel wire is twisted to zee shape?

1...so that it can hang on the swing arm properly..

2, the oiling tube and tip is able to be secured properly ..

3. the oiling tip..where the tube is longer than the steel wire...(is placed closed to the sprocket/chain area...)..this protrusion is a safety measure in case the tip touches the moving sprocket/chain...the tube gets eaten away...it is expected a certain amount of sway/vibration in the oiling tip as a result of bike vibration and wind pressure ---when the bike is on the move. so after a while the tube will be at the optimun position.

in another words if the tube is not eaten away..it is still far and safe form the hungry sprocket/chain.

of course I'm happy with the oiler... just a little more fine tuning and its ready to run in the background! :cheeky:

Today, My oiler tip got "Buay" (rubbed) until the wire exposed... And the other end came out and rubbed against the chain until the ends were frayed.

This weekend going to remove the entire assembly and reinstall.

This weekend going to remove the entire assembly and reinstall.

to make the oiling tip secure...i will be using hose clips to ensure that the tip is position rigidly...i hink this will minimise the drifting problem on my bike..

will post to show when it is done.

the rubbing occurs because of the vibration resulting in a somesort of harmonic motions at the oiling tip...this is make worse if the chains start to move up and down and strike the tube and dont forget the strong wind pressure so all these dynamic forces acting on the tip makes a complex motion which is diicult to predict..maybe a rigid wire should i say rod will be more appropraite to overcome it,

lets see..whether i can find one metallic tube and the oiling tube running inside..hah..i have one...okay will try this..in conjunction with the hose clips/clamps..

...most probably silent is encountering all the problem listed..

The breather hole on the tube is to enable for air to flow in or release out of the tube?

alright.. will use a pen knif to make a hole later... good idea yea!!

been rather happy to have this oiler.. Sproket not eating the tubes at all.. lucky me.

from my understand , the hole is to enable air to flow in... you can try it on your shampoo bottle to understand..

both..this is air pressure equilibrium technique...

when you pump..the air is forced out....once the oil flow past the hole air gets sucked in.
