Hey Mepkoh!

Thanks so much for taking time out on a Saturday to help me fix the oiler! I've poked the holes on the tubes and the oil flow is smooooooooth. Having the V3, your oiler gave two points of control for flow rate and it made tweaking that much easier. Barely rode more than 15km with good flow and the chain is already visibly cleaner and better lubricated.

Now just gotta find the sweet spot to minimise the fling and we are good! Fling at open valve seems to be limited onto the side of wheels - awesome to report no gunk on rims!

Elegant design, cheap and minimal parts, ease of use and yet effective... I say 10 points!

Thanks mepkoh!

so easy to use... just give the pump a press and it will work its magic... the only minor glitch left is that I have to check the position of the oiling tip as it might out of alignment after a few days of riding

the good news is that ...by tweaking the oiling tip ..you are also checking the chain an the oiling results..

seriously need to look for a even rigid hanger..hahah..maybe need to insert those rods like found in the "S" hooks..these one will not change its orientation once it is secured.

try it...u may be surpirsed at the result..

anymore dirty hands??do you need to clean your chain now?

thank you for the compliment..

clean your side tyre side wall ..this is a danger point...you may loose control of your rear wheel if you lean too much in your corners..take care..:cheeky:

UPDATE V1.1 AND V3.1

Take note if throw off lands on the tyre side walls...this is adanger point. You may loose control of your rear wheel if you lean too much..

those with old school tyres shouldnt be a big problem..

but those with "sport" tyres where the tyres are "v" shaped in cross section-- take care

hey bro.. thanks again for meeting me.. sorry for delaying your lunch and getting your hands dirty.. :X

i did some tweaking myself.. minor ones..

i painted the bottle you provide black.. i left a gap on about 1/3 of the bottle so that i can top up the bottle if it drop below that line..

instead of the thick double side tape you recommended, i put a sponge in between the bottle and frame.. those sponge for protecting hdd..

I will need to resolve the air lock problem.

:help:those who are still unable to flow..ahhah

test to figure out where is the blockage(s)..and work from there.

procedure:

1. make a hole in the tube as describe..the correct poisition is important..see past posts for recommended area to poke...

2. remove the hose/tube from one end of the valve (towards the oiler end)..if flows..means valve okay..ensure the valve is at the fully open condition...if not got to 3..if can flow go to 4

3..pull out tube from valve..if flow means valve choked..replace valve.

4. if still cannot flow..check the hole or make another one..use a ice pick., nail or anything sharp preferably round..make hole larger and larger until it flows..remove pick when testing for flow..

if still cannot flow..check all the cable ties etc and kinks (if any) and correct the fault..and retry...if still cannot??

i can only deduce that the instructions are screw up.

5. after confirming that the valves and tubes allow the oil to flow..fix the oiling tube to the valve..if the problem is still around loosen all the cable ties if you can or shift it by shaking , pulling..pushing the oiling tip..and check for flow..if still have [problem..remove ties and confirm for flow..if still no flow

throw away oiling tip and install another one..

hope the above helps..:help:

guys...the next clinic meet what do you want to do??

i look at my bike ..and feels that it is time to do some brake maintenance..how about brake fluid change,,or bleeding..?? suggestions please...

it is recommended that the brake fluid to be replaced every year...do you follow this reccommendation??

when was the last time you have this done..?? no idea--maybe it is as good as any time to do it now..

anyone know how much a bottle of brake fluid costs??

well we need brake bleeding expert..anyone can help?

someone posted that a bottle of brake fluid..cost $7++ for 500ml. maybe this is good for 2 ..3 bikes.

the point is that ..the fluid is very hygroscopic..meaning it absorbs water vapour very easily and this will destroy the braking /hydraulic properties..thats the reason it is best that a few get together and finish the bottle as the liquid will go bad if not kept properly..

so come on do this and u can sleep easily without worrying about the brake fluid for another year? or is it a zillion years before the next change??

sorry for the late review... been too busy recently at work... here's my review on the oiler:

You deserved a pop corn

was fixing my bike last week and i realise tat my bottle had cracked... guess i over tighten it... however the condition of the chain have greatly improved since the installation....

was wondering if it would help if the oiling point was shifted to the other end of the spocket.. since it's smaller, the contact point for oiling will be better...

it shld solve the flinging problem as well... as it has a cover over it....

Posted

the other drive sprocket end??/ not a good idea..the oil will have even more time and area to be flung out...notice how the chain do the boogle when bike is moving..u acn see the flinging is even more severe.

sorry about the broken bottle..

previous ahve posted an up date that the bottle has to be isolated ..ie have a piece of insulating like rubber sheet, thick double sided tape...this is to eliminate the vibration to the bottle and resulting in a breakage..

u nee anote bottle..can get for you...at cost $1.20 for small(50ml) and $1.6 for large (100ml)..

URGENT CRITICAL UPDATE..

chain oiler...it has been reported that the oil bottle is lIable to break ..

result of VIBRATION..

avoid overtightening..

insulation is required to be mounted between frame and bottle has been suggested to overcome this problem..

guys please check whether your oiler is having this issue. rectify asap.
