If u ask me.. I think Toyota Vios are better in terms of FC..

 

But in my heart i think Getz are better in terms of look and price wise..

Foremost, kudos to all mod and admin for a gd job done here at getzclub! Been actively looking for a new car and yes, I finally decided on a getz too! I did look at swift (test-drive it, noisy and not gd pick up also), yaris, aveo and the new rio hatchback but after testing drive the 1.6m getz, i think it has the bestest pickup. the only low-down is only two doors but well, that's managable. browsed at many forums for ideas too and getzclub is really niche and for getz and getz only

i also had to choose between the two cars a year ago.... in the end i chose vios.

 

in my opinion, i tink both cars are good. whateva ur choice, u can't be wrong. both are very popular with singaporeans because they are cheap n reliable, have lots of aftermarket accesories etc. try visiting the vios forum to find out more (http://forum.vogs.net)

 

aniwae, u might wanna consider suzuki swift sports arriving in sept/oct. 125hp, factory-fitted bucket seats, sub 9 sec for 1-100kmh, selling at ard 60k otr. if u can't wait, parallel importers have oredi brought it in but at a higher price.

y so little ppl chose getz?? my fren oso told me not to get a getz... y huh ?

 

there is oso ppl told me not to get vios coz its metal are made in thai and are soft metal.. is dat true?

All cars nowadays are soft compared with cars decades ago.

 

If you need boot space, want more safety features, willing to pay more, take Vios.

 

If you want a compact, fun car that's cheap and sents you from pt A to pt B, take Getz.

 

Vios is a good family car.

 

If you want to drive it for fun, speed, fast cornering, etc... Getz should be a better take.

for my vios MT, i get ard 13km/l (80% city)...

 

i once drove to kuantan using the old trunk road with my whole family and boot filled to the max, averaging 120km/h and i got 17km/l (i sompah).

 

i've heard of some vios drivers who unload everything unnecessary from car and never rev above 2k rpm....... they got 19km/l

vios is not a very good car in the follwing ways:

 

1) unstable at high speed due to its weight

2) doors no soundproofing so haf to pay extra to get it fixed

3) no aircon filter so haf to pay extra to get it fixed

4) panels not fitted well which causes rattling

5) noisy at high speed, i heard its due to the thin windows

6) passenger side sunshade no mirror (ur gf or wife will complain for sure)

 

hope other vios drivers dun slamm me for this

The test drives are so sedate you would be hard pressed to find out anything about the car. Its not like you can take it down to South Buona Vista to test out the handling =)

at those prices, dont "inside egg, look for bones"

 

fuel consumption is a result of various factors.

engine capacity and configuration being one of the main.

while some cars with same capacity may display different FC but the diff is not that great.

 

Ask yourself if you can afford to follow your heart or must you follow your head, then you'll have the answer.

If both head and heart can afford, then definitely heart lah......

 

Depends on what you mean by "afford"....

 

Many folks out there actually cant afford a car but they still buy and then live from hand to mouth.....

 

anyway back to topic, given a choice between the two, I'll take the Vios

the getz has a higher consumption becos it's metal alloy frame has a higher % of steel, hence heavier. for vios, the alloy is mainly aluminium , thats why its lighter and faster.

 

anyway, VVT-i is nice, so i'll take the vios as it has a smaller power to weight ratio. but i'll definitely throw in another few thousand to make an altis. The getz is no competition against the altis, and some feel that the Verna is also no fight.
