Hi guys,

Is there a need to replace the brake line to steel ones as some of you did??

What raincoat and rain shoes do you all use besides the ones at Ah Boy?? Looking at something that can double as Jacket as well as repel rain. :)

Thank you.

Hey hey Good morning:) NO la I saw you zoom past me in Malaysia, you very steady wor

that time different... the 2nd time i went with them to labis water fall, we detour back to kulai to eat dinner, I volunteered to join the ppls who are riding fast....

lol my meter was reading like 160-170km/hr, the exact speed should be minus 20km/hr...

i ride that speed for the distance of 100km, and that time was 5-6+pm.... many vehicles on the road.... we are suppose to be in staggered formation ma, so i was on the left side of 1st lane....

I rode pass trucks and lorries, the wind sway me to the center of the lane so many times... scary!

I'm changing my rear brake line this saturday. Do you want to come along with me, we might be able to get cheaper. Heading to this place.

If i buy alone for one line i have to fork out $75....I'm hoping that we can go for the 3line package only $150. thats only $50 per line!

Our front brakes will be definitely jerky, they have to be in order to stop us in an instant.

If you find it too irregular, try to use your rear brake more often than your front for city riding. I do that often to smooth out my travelling, I hate the diving forward of the fork when i compress my front brakes. Thats why using the rear just solves all the "jerkyness"

On a technical note, probably its time to change your front pads? By observation, you're a spartan, so your brake would probably have more wear and tear. Other than then that can get CKA to give your brake calipers a look.

my 2cents.

eh.. just the brake pad ? any problem to disk, like uneven surface?

and i never press very hard but i slightly press the front brake and the bike keep on jerk and jerk..

Hi I am going to take my TP soon... was wondering how much would a 2nd hand Roadwin R cost me at CKA?

If anyone else is kind enough... could you list out the steps of how to purchase a 2nd hand bike after I pass my TP.

Thanks a million.

i dont know if cka has a 2nd hand roadwin at the moment but u can call them and check. a few Roadwin R125s were sold for 5k++ in the past few months. u can use that as a gauge.

To purchase a 2nd hand bike. Firstly, u need to buy insurance. insurance is to protect u and the motorcycle and u are legally binded by law to have one if u are riding a motorcycle.

2nd of all, the current owner will have to transfer ownership to u. you would have to go to LTA to fill in a form and pay a transfer fee. This would show that the bike is owned by you.

Lastly, pay the bugger. haha.

i think its done this way. no idea though.

Hey, everyone!

I’ve been following this thread as I’m keen on getting a RwR myself. As soon as I clear my 2B, that is... :)

Thanks to all of you for your postings here for u’ve helped me decide in my choice of ride.

I’d like to share what I know about the braking issues Binteng and DivineCreations have been discussing recently. Please note that it is not normal for riders to feel “jerkiness” when applying front brakes. With no disrespect intended to Divine, “they have to be (jerky) in order to stop us in an instant” is simply not true. If you recall your emergency brake exercise while taking your 2B lessons, did any of you feel any jerkiness?

Firstly, I guess it would be helpful to define what is jerkiness. Fork dive when braking, that is your forks compresses due to weight shifting to the front when braking, is not jerkiness. Any other vibration felt through the handlebars is “jerky”. The causes of jerkiness can be:

1) Loose fork/handle bar nuts

Check that the fork nuts at the top yoke (the aluminium plate just in front of tank) are properly tightened. Also check handlebar clamps are tight.

If all nuts tight, check headset.

2) Worn-out, loose or faulty Headset or Headset Bearings

This is the part that connects the front forks to the chassis or frame.

Put bike on mainstand. Have a friend sit on pillion seat to weigh down the rear. Facing the bike from the front, grab the forks and pull-push horizontally to see if there is free-play (movement). Also turn front wheel (not spin wheel) while standing beside bike with both hands on handlebars, full left then full right slowly. When turning, you should feel it turning smoothly. It not, the bearings may need some grease or replacement.

Note that worn bearings may not be the sole culprit in jerkiness under braking.

3) Warped brake disc/rotor

These may be solid steel but they can warp all the same. This is especially true if the grade of steel used is of low quality or simply due to bad manufacturing process. You can visually inspect the disc for signs of warp.

4) Brake calliper dirty/jammed

Dirt and brake pad dust accumulate over time and this does affect brake caliper performance. The jerkiness felt can be due to the pistons “sticking” and releasing under when braking due to the dirt. Problem can be fixed by having the callipers serviced. This should actually be done at regular intervals. I’m not sure what the Daelim manual recommends though.

Above are the more common causes of “jerkiness”, often referred to as “brake judder”. Item 1) is easily fixed but do be careful not to over-tighten nuts. You can do the elimination process yourself so when you do eventually get to CKA, you can tell them what you suspect to be the problem. Binteng, please do have it checked soon as it is not safe to ride with defective brakes.

Sorry for the long post and again, no disrespect intended to anyone. Thought I’d share what I know...

Cheers
