I guess if this matter is brought up to the govt. they will simply state that the point of ERP is to reduce traffic jams, and without it the jams will simply be worse. Hence the charges are justifiable >.

SINGAPORE: Distance—based charging is the next step when it comes to road pricing in Singapore. This is where motorists are charged based on the distance they travel on congested roads, using GPS technology.

Currently, Singapore motorists are charged at specific points when they enter congested areas, using Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) gantries.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has been working with potential suppliers to test different satellite systems for the past couple of years. However, at the Urban Transport Leaders Summit on Wednesday, its chief engineer said there is no complete solution in sight yet.

Dr Chin Kian Keong, group director, Road Operations & Community, LTA, said: "No one system has been demonstrated to be working at integrated levels. So again, we have to take a cautious approach and watch what is happening in other countries."

No timeline has been set for moving to this next stage of road pricing.

Such fine—tuning where motorists pay for the problems they cause is getting increasingly common around the world, according to urban planners at the conference. For example, a pollution tax is what a few countries are suggesting.

Professor David Hensher, director, Institute of Transport & Logistics, University of Sydney, said: "You are driving your nice, fancy Mercedes car which has got eight cylinders and high litres per hundred kilometres, and you are paying no more per kilometre than someone driving a very fuel—efficient small car that’s taking up less road space and in fact, polluting the atmosphere far less."

Separately, LTA also signed a memorandum on Wednesday with six key partners to explore new solutions to urban transport problems.

thats what my dad told me mths back, but they are still testing it out with corporations which assisted with the implementation of erps years back. few yrs to come, we will be charged when we are out of our carparks :faint:

Impossible for them to refund.

Careful what we wish for, maybe they'll refund and then say "If caused by LTA, we refund, else under normal circumstances, it should INCREASE!"... Then really GG.

I feel that after say 10 years, when ERP becomes the norm (As it is happening right now, since can jam right at ERP doorsteps), we'll start to see ERP on most roads and double ERP to "Control Traffic", maybe only those dirt tracks are F.O.C. :(

dun be surprise cos THEY ARE. and the calculating how much you travel you pay how much. Siao then those delivery one siao liaoz lor. If they still charge COE and road tax hopefully the car and bike community can unity and fight back hahaha

Then it just mean the the amount deduct per entry is too little! They will increase to solve the jam.

Refund? tangugu also bo. and when refund really happens, they will find a way to makan you back 10 times more they refunded you

haiyah.. all talk, no action.. anyone actually dare to write letter to LTA ab this?

i dun tink so.. all only come here and complain... complain till the cows come home also stil the same.. we will still keep paying them the money...

they promised smoother and faster travelling time into town, which they made it. whats wrong with that. last time i need 1hr to reach town area through CTE, now 30-40mins can reach, although its still jammed up.

want ride/drive through ERP gantries, then dont kpkb gantries expensive. cannot afford gantries, mrts are always there for you. want a smooth journey during peak hour, mrts are still there for you. their aim was to force singaporeans to take public transport.

the only few that can complain about these are guys with private business and does alot of deliveries, in and out of town.

in the process of getting 2B...

MRTs during peak periods are even worse then being stuck in a jam.... Try taking for a few days at city hall at 6+pm.

5-10mins for the next train ok la. packed like sardines, but saving lots of money a day, compared to driving/riding, and its much safer compared to riding at that period of the day.

in and out of town, i'll usually opt for public transport. the gantries, the parking fee are all killers.

The current MRT is at full capacity running at a constant headway of 2 mins during the peak period.....

We gotto wait for the circle line to move the crowd somewhere and not to jam up the RFP and CTH interchange........

That way the MRT system can be more efficient.....
