i also face this problem on and off.. just gotta keep cranking and it will start eventually.. normally i cant start i gif up.. i off the bike relax awhile later on back can crank abit.. then it cant start again.. i jus change my magnetic coil, sparkplug, engine oil.. so i doubt it's any of the problems

haha i got it replaced by my bike shop liao.... done..... now then i will rem once u see the HISS lighted up when key inserted.. means something is wrong with the HISS liao..-_-///

my problem come almost every 2days.. normally it move off ok then suddenly u hear weird sound.. as thou 1-2 spark plug is not working.. (if u heard that sound before..) then suddenly u will notice that ur RPM will get lower each time u rev and ur idling will be below 1.. then suddenly it just shuts off.. after very long then it can start back.. any idea anyone? i go bikeshop they also check sparkplug all those no use.. my plugs are new.. less than 400km on it

Kurarensu , May i know if your problem has resolved ?

 

I have similar symptoms as what u are having except that I can start the bike a few cranks. Even when the bike is warm after a journey , i also have a hard time trying to start my bike. I suspect it is my start plug which is too old cos i have not change it for ard 15000km already .

my bike also cannot start after i ride n then off engine.... when nvr do proper 1st warm up for the day... esp that time after my bike left in rain for more than 14hrs... n my key also cannot insert full n cannot twist to on. i tried spray a bit of wd40 on my key, got improve a bit i feel. any comments?

I have a new spare key . I will probably go down to try it later .

Don't think it is the key issue for my case . I have tried my spare key and i also have the same problem .

I had this problem with my vtec yesterday. Worst still just reach VICOM and time for my inspection. Lucky bike shop just a few blocks a away, so i pushed it there. The mech checked and said battery's spoilt. So i changed. Cost me $85.. Bo pian.

 

The thing is that after replacing, he used that battery tester to check, he says my battery charges are not very good. He says may be the rectifier or the magnetic coil... Anyone face this problem.

 

I haven't do anything yet coz need you guys opinion.

if anything happened within the next three months to your new battery...have the rectifier changed. You did not mentioned how old your previous batt was...can't give you any recommendation to change rectifier as well. Neither did you mentioned how old your bike is and can't gauge your coil condition.

if change batt still the same then high chance ur coil burnt liao.

ah paisei.. forget.. got my vtec second-hand. So did really know how old is the battery but for the bike.. is near 10 year. so if change rectifier will solve the problem...

my bike 3 months old but second hand. i buy got change battery n rectifier but coil i dont noe.

Bike cannot start - lots of possibility from main fuse blow to starter motor problem to iginition coil to rectifier to bad battery to.blahh..blahh..blahhh. There is a workflow system for trouble shooting.

 

As for preventive..the best I can recommend is proper grounding. There is a thread on this..go search..or check my post for it.

For your case...I think your iginition switch may be not be proper. There is usually a flat cover when you pull out the key...if that's not working, water usuall gets in and sits in there. As for key not fitting fully in and turn easily, your key hole internal ledges are worn and misaligned..time to get a new iginition switch..$85 to $120 (referring to non vtec only).

thanx ah pek... i heard abt grounding too... i think will be fixing up soon together with rev tec. money fly fly

 

Forget about those voltage stablizer...believe me...just do grounding.
