Tank was pretty good looking, now from the left side, hard to tell if it is a Phantom, unless you are a Phantom rider yourself. :D

Tank got some scratches, don't know when kena one... Haizz.

So new got scratches liao.... :(

Installing part was a real bltch though.

It's got a BIG SCREW underneath that has no rubber seal, so it leaks petrol.

Madman said it was the hole for the low fuel indicator available to the Fire Edition Phantom.

But... Alamak! My bike don't have the indicator! So the tank leaking when I poured back the fuel, so had to use white tape to cover first until I get a rubber ring seal.

Next, the tank has 2 tubes leaving the tank, but the TA200 has only 1 pipe for it!!! :giddy:

So again I had to DIY a plug for it too.

Madman provided a pice of rubber sheet for me to cut something to plug it.

Got a proper rubber hose from Ah Chong to connect the 2 tubes together last night.

After that, the handle bars have to be adjusted so that they don't knock onto the tank when fully turned.

Another down side of the tank is that the shape of our speedo meter's cover's shape does not conform to the tank's contour, so there is a small gap between the cover and the tank.

And the manufacturer did a silly thing by painting such a thick coat that the screw threads for fitting in the fuel knob was totally covered. So I had to sandpaper the thread to expose them during the fitting. And it also interferred with the fitting of the filter, so the reserve volume might have been affected too.

I have not pumped a full tank yet, so not sure of the total volume.

But the reserve's volume is surpisingly small. Only 1 litre!

I will ask Ah Chong to see if the knob can be adjusted to make the reserve higher on my next visit.

So far on the road, the bike has no tendency to sway on side or another due to the inbalance of weight of shoshing petrol. I will monitor it again when it's a full tank.

Life's too short, you may leave anytime, think of now, just do it.

Ok, for the last few days, riding sucks, because the bike keeps choking and coughing every few kilometers travelled.

Occasionally stalling completely when on the road.

And when I open the fuel cap to check on the fuel, there was a "Psss..." sound like opening a can of soft drink.

Found out today that the reason was because the "Nose" was sealed up by a thick coat of paint.

Yup, the same thick coat that covered up the threads to screw in the fuel knob covered up the hole.

And it didn't help that I was unlucky enough to have a dead battery, so I had to push start my bike several times everyday.

Had the problem solved at Planet Motors by opening the hole.

Being the pioneer batch (a.k.a Gineau Pig) to test out the new fuel tank, I am going to list down the things to do when installing the tank, to save future buyers the headache of trouble shooting.

Note the BIG Tank has 5 outlets at the bottom of the tank. 3 on the left 2 on the right.

The stock tank has only 2 so please remember to do the following when installing the BIG Tank.

1) After screwing on the tank to the chassis and tightening back the speedometer, connect the 2 same size tubes to each other using a small black rubber fuel hose. (they are the 2 tubes facing each other one)

This is to connect the right side of the tank to the left side.

If you do not want to do this, you must die die still seal up the 2 holes before topping up the tank with petrol, otherwise the petrol will flow out of these 2 medium size tubes.

2) Sand away the excessive paint on the inside of the big tube with the screw threads (on the left) for the Fuel Knob. You need to do this to widen the hole if you are to fit the filter in. Even after the sanding, it is still a very very very tight fit.

3) Use a penknife or a screw driver to scrape away the paint on the outside of the big tube (on the left) for the Fuel Knob to expose the threads. Before srewing on the Fuel Knob.

4) Poke a hole on the tip of smallest tube if there isn't one to open up the breathing hole for the tank. Otherwise the tank will not be able to take in air to replace the volume of petrol, and will cause a low pressure in the tank, stopping the flow of petrol out of the tank. Symptoms of this will be the choking and coughing of the bike, as though there is no fuel left.

5) There is a BIG SCREW on the left of the tank, just before the big tube (on the left) for the Fuel Knob. Use a rubber ring seal to make it air tight, or else petrol will leak out of this hole as well.

6) The Reserve tank of only 1 litre cannot be adjusted, unless the big tube (on the left) for the Fuel Knob is cut shorter. This part is not as important if you are planning to travel only is Singapoer, since 1 litre can bring you almost the all the way across the island.

Hope this information helps. :cheeky:

Planning to go JB for petrol trip tomorrow, going to check out how much this Sucker can hold.

Just came back from JB after pumping full tank.

Qus: How much can the tank hold?

Ans: A disappointing 18 L exactly. :dozed:

Anything above 18 L is spilled.

And this is after draining out all the petrol at the petrol station, using a mineral water bottle, so the figure is pretty accurate.

(Pump shows 18.103L, but alot was spilled. Even got some on my jeans) :(

There was still a big pocket of air above the opening, so no doubt the tank might be able to take up to 19L or even 20L, but the bike will have to be tilted down slope to be able to pump at that angle.

Will see again after the main stand project is completed.
