Anyone tried after market performance parts from Polini or Malossi on the Maj? May need replacing my clutch soon, thinking of Malossi if it's not much from oem price...

Sean, how much you paid for the original Yamaha clutch?

I had the same idea too but heard from Botak not advisable to use polini and maloussi. Both more for racing thus not suitable for everyday use. But then can ask those bros who are using it in their X9s and VXRs. Alot of them fitted those clutch.

i do believe it's made of higher friction material? But also generate more heat and wear faster... I have not had the time to check at the other scoot cafes ... will check on price and decide later ..:) Malossi n Polini variator and rollers should be ok then? Just improve the pickup i believe but I most keen on the gear-up kit .. feel a bit heartache when I have to ride fast n the poor engine spinning so fast, so it should reduce engine speed at the expense of a quicker pick up ..

Even we got the parts to mod it up, TP and ROV might not hv the sense of beauty to appreciate our efford, tats the saddest part to me. :cheeky:

Not all aftermarket parts are for racing usage. I've installed the Polini Variator and rollers, and when the shop removed the parts, I compared and found that the Polini parts are made of a higher quality.

The finishing and material leads me to think that with normal usage, there is no reason why the Polini parts will not last as long or even longer than the OEM parts.

read somewhere that the rollers for malossi need to change every 5000kms, what about polini? Interested to change mine as experiencing very bad vibes when moving off and believe that the variator, torgue spring might need to be changed which according to some post somewhere that those might be the reason for the vibes.

So far I've gone about close to 6~7,000kms on my Polini rollers.... don't feel as though there's anything wrong, rather lazy to ask mech to open to check.

Just checked my records.... my Polini rollers have been installed for more than 10,000km....

:giddy:

The positive side is no funny feeling from them.... think we'll find out the real condition this Saturday.

My original rollers beginning to flatten, its only about 4,000km. Where to get Polini? Malossi rollers are about the same price as the original, but WinJing doesn't stock anything for Majesty. Have to indent and wait.

the verdict's still out on sliding rollers (ala DR PULLEY), what is Tai Hin's offering? I appreciate the working principle of the sliding rollers; but if the price doesn't cover the longevity of OEM's, that sort of negate the whole exercise in moving away from OEM products, just like kevlar belts costing twice more than OEM belts but can it lasts twice as long? I guess, only way is to try it out and see what happens ..:) .. will be keen to have someone's view on sliding rollers' life span other than the better pick-up etc comments..

Anyone thought of why rollers develops flat spots? Since a roller is suppose to "roll", thus wearing evenly - i.e new roll has dia of 20mm, then it should wear evenly to 18mm after certain mileage - but why the flat bands opposite to each other... anyone care to shed some light to it?
