Hi Fazerians,

 

My cousin is thinking of getting a used FZ6. Can anyone advise what to look out for when checking the bike?

Is there a difference in feel when riding a Spec 2 and older models?

Do you think value will plunge if Yamaha stop production and go for FZ8 instead?

like how u look out for when buying other 2nd hand bikes...

take note of its mileage and all the necessary little details around the bike...

ask to start bike to hear... wait for bike to warm up and try to listen for some tok tok sound behind the engine sound...

if bike got aftermarket exhaust, i'm afraid it's pretty hard to listen for that already...

 

value for fz6 will not plunge greatly cus there still a demand now...

afterall, it's still a great bike... great looks and good for daily commuting and for tourings!

 

 

Any idea what is the FC for fz8?

 

perhaps should ask in Be Prepared. The NEW FZ8?

Now my cousin looking for a bike for transport and I recommended him the Fazer Thou or Six. I think the Fazer is among the few modern street bikes that doesn't look wierd with a top box and hard panniers. Due to budget constraint, he is more interested in the 6.

 

So you guys meet every Tuesday at Lavender FC? Where is it exactly? Any landmark?

may i know what are the additional electronics that you have?

for your idling voltage, it's kinda low already but it's still function-able except that you have to start monitor already...

your battery is going to die soon if i'm not wrong...

 

for your reading of 13.3V during running, it means that your rectifier is still quite okay...

if you see that your voltage drops below 13V during running, it could most probably means your rectifier also gone already...

 

yes there is some self maintenance that you can take up with to keep your battery healthy and prolong its life...

that is to do battery maintenance by charging it manually instead of relaying on your rectifier...

Hmm im getting this reading based on my voltmeter....but not too sure if its tapped directly from the batt when its fixed...Understood that the reading may not be too accurate if its not tapped directly from the batt...How can I possibly check?....Sorry hor im an electronics blur biker...

But if my voltmeter reading is true, then that means I got to change the batt n rectifier real soon already....By any chance any guys would know an estimate of the pricing? How big a bomb is it?

yes, it's every tuesday at lavender food square at jalan besar there, opposite auntie shop...

yes bro... if voltmeter is not tap directly to the battery or fusebox, it will be slight off...

dun worry so much la... it's just slightly off like 0.1 - 0.3 v...

to trace to where it is connected to, u had to trace all the way from the voltmeter box downwards lei... it's kinda tedious...

 

battery & rectifier... yours FZ6 right?

oem battery is $160 while oem rectifier is $75 from auto machinery...

anyway, my bike is a black one...

this siggy i took it from yamaha japan...

can say that it's yamaha japan oem stuffs...

i planning to get some of these in near future...

 

anyway, i calculated, to get the side fairing + belly pan + screen + naked mirrors + mirror block off plates + pole light cover + knuckle fairing + fork protector + mesh seat + pillion in-seat bag + rear flap up + led signal lights, it would cost around $4k to $5k...

 

this is for fz1 gen 2, i think it will not fit for fz1 gen 1...

not really la... i always like Suzuki's signals but not their bikes...

there was even one time i was thinking to mod my fz6 with GSR signals cus i like their all rounder wide angel signals...

 

anyway, if u wan white cover signals with orange lights, u can find quite a lot of these online e.g ebay or at motoWorld... they also carries...
