hi guys, juz now i discovered my fz1 temp increase to 118 degrees c.. the temp digits keep blinking & indication light on. r u guys xperience it b4? is it norm dat the temp increase faster..

it seems that ur engine is overheating... u may perhaps like to refer to your owner's manual for further instructions on how to cool it down... better to do so to avoid further overheating your engine and thus cause problems on the later part...

in wad situation u encounter this? what coolant r u using right now? mind sharing for further description? my fz1 never go beyond 106°C even in hot weather or in jams...

Go to favourite your mechanic to have it check your cooling system. Is the two fans in working order?

Any bros here knows the number of "tooths" on the front and rear sprocket? is it 16T front and 45T rear? cos i find the rpm when cruising at abt 100km/h is a bit high at abt 4000rpm. Was thinking to change the rear sprocket to maybe lower number of tooths. Any bros here did tat? Thanks. :)

That's about 13.5km/l. What kind of riding are we talking about...?

If it's in heavy traffic with traffic lights etc, it actually sounds normal... this is close to what I'm getting on my daily commute where it's mostly stop-start riding, seldom more than 0.5-1km between traffic lights.

If it's more of expressway riding with less stop-start, it sounds low... you should be getting around 15-17km IMO.

I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but please be aware that your speedometer will give you a false reading if you change the sprocket teeth. The speedo actually measures speed based on engine RPM rather than wheel speed, so if you change to a smaller rear sprocket, you will be travelling faster than your speedo shows. Look out for the speed cameras! ;)

For FZ1, OEM size front sprocket size is 17 and rear is 45. Some had changed the front to 16t for better low end riding, better pick-up etc but at the expense of top speed. if u want to change your sprocket sizes, u need to install a speedohealer to get the correct speed/rpm u are travelling at after the change. FZ1 gen 2 is basically using a R1 2003-2004 engine so rpm will be definiterly higher than some bikes.

Dear Bro's & experts!

Need to change my tyres soon for my FZ6S, Any suggestions? Went to 2 mechanics, one recommended Michelin Pilot Power, another one recommended RaceTec (not too sure if the spelling is correct)

Any one used either tyres or have any to recommend? I'm looking more for normal daily commute, with once in a very blue moon may go up north if there's a chance.

Think grip and moderate durability would be my main priority. If anyone could give rough price ranges, i would really appreciate it!

Thanks so much!

if you are using it for daily commute and once in a blue moon touring and no hard riding, i think durability would be very impt. maybe pilot road would be good. or try bt023, bridgestone new sport touring tyres.

A lot of Fazer owners are using Pilot Road 2 and they commented wet grip is very good and can last about 20k for a pair. Another good choice will be Angel ST. price range from $400 to $430 base on Unique Motor New tyre price list.

my fc also about the same as yours. about 270-300km before hitting reserve. maybe for a start, check your tyre pressure and give your chain a good clean and observe your fc again.

Hey Crankcase and Superspeed123,thanks for the advice. Think i shall leave it as it is. Dun wan to contribute to the gahment's coffers for nothing.

Aside to Lukeyboi, I have just changed my tyres to Pirelli Diablo Corsa 3 on my mech's recommendation. It's dual compound i.e center is harder for durability and sides are softer for more grip during cornering. Tried it during wet weather and the grip is quite good. Got it for 420. But my rear i'm using 180 instead of 190 cos it's lighter and the size not much difference when compared side by side. Durability wise i can't comment as 1st time trying this model.Hope this helps. :)
