frankly speaking, i do not like the styling of VW that much also. its (the Golf or scirocco) nice in a way, but not something i'd pay that much money for.

 

yes it has loads of new technology that'll help your drive. but.......... well............................................ i still dont like it. i'd rather take my 147 over them anyday, who cares about VW's DSG VS Alfa's Sillyspeed.

 

of course if you get the Evo X from C&C, you'll pay a premium price for their premium package + warranty.

 

its much cheaper if i actually import one in from Japan myself. some dealers are offering 115k-120k for the Evo X GSR 5MT, prolly can get a couple Ks off that price. that kinda difference, even with no warranty i can rebuild the whole engine.

 

it all boils down to personal pref man, which i told you when you were trying to psycho me to change to change from my 147 to the VW Golf last time remember?

 

rather spend the moolah on something i like, rather than something i dont really like yes? to hell with the ubertech and everything.

The cheapest Evo in Singapore is about 130K. 5 speed manual, 280bhp and 422Nm?! But don't forget japanese cars are speed limited here. Breaking that requires $$$ and void warranty. Something which new cars always try to avoid. Continental cars on the other hand limits the speed at 250kph which can contain more cares. Frankly speaking, with 130K+, I'd rather get the Golf VI GTI or Scirocco which can be about the same price. There's also the DSG factor which takes care of both your beastly driving and your meek family man driving style. You are now looking at a compromise of everything, VW provides you with the excellent answer. Tell your tigress that VW was founded by Porsche & currently owns Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, Skoda, Seat and Bugatti. The brand name may sound rather weird 'peoples car'. But still you cannot deny the superiority of the German marque. And I can honestly tell you, VW share the same technological platform as the other cars too. With a greater budget, VW builds car with excellent quality and great pricing. I don't understand why your tigress is so against VW.

I have an International Driving Permit. Recognised in most civilised countries in the world. Initially I wasn't able to get used to driving at the other side of the road. Especially challenging when I move off from junctions. Went on the wrong side of the road couple of times fortunately without catastrophic consequences. Managed to drive back the other side of the road when my Chinese colleague yelled at me. Luckily, the kerbs are very low over there to allow the SLK I was driving to mount across. But I got used to it after a while. Just follow the flow of traffic. It is not even remotely possible to drive on the reverse direction on the autobahn which I spent most of my journey on. The only part I felt queer is the reversed use of hands. Now I keep my right hand on a knob while left on a wheel.

I didn't expect my remarks to provoke such resonance in you. But still the same old statement. Buy something you will not regret. But one word of advise, check out the top speed of all performance japanese cars you get from dubious sources. I know people who bought Japanese cars that come with a 180km/h limiter. And the salesman did not tell him until the day he got the car. Imagine the look on my friend's face and how sheepishly the salesman told my friend. Some salesmen just lack the ethics when it come to profits.

I get paid to receive automotive engineering training in Germany and then conduct technical training seminars on related subjects for workshops all over the region. Glamorous job indeed. Opportunities to drive a sports car on the Autobahn and work with huge commercial vehicle fleets and also race teams including some of the F1 teams. But few understand the struggles within the circle. The cut throat competition I have to face. And occasional insults I need to bear with yet absolutely unable to retaliate. Not even remotely possible to redress certain injustice that I have to quietly swallow in order to refrain from antagonizing clients. Even though they are the minority, but everytime I see poor feedbacks with unflattering comments, I feel wrenches gripping my heart without reservation. No matter what, the world is filled with different people and it's impossible to satisfy everyone. When I try to explain why some people modify their vehicles wrongly, ignorant end users tell me off "What do you know?!" I can only shrug it off and move on from there for they don't pay me and do not know me in person even though I only spoke up merely out of kindness.

All these done in order to fuel my passion for automotives, but most importantly, to ensure I have my next meal on the dining table and a roof over my head.
