just hear for any weird noises.

i got my impulse from @byte77. he took pretty good care of the engine so its quite ok. i'm doing a resto on the other parts. brake, bodywork, etc. almost done soon.

Saw another impulse at Ah chong that had an accident. no luck in contact the owner also. you notice i've been talking to myself in this thread for a LONG LONG time.

interesting. i check it out.

very different bikes, one scoot, one streetbike.

i give you my take on the impulse. its retro looking, rarer than s4 so people WILL notice your bike. i have people looking over and asking me what bike i ride.

but spare parts will be a bit of a hassle cause shops wont carry the parts and you have to source for them from KS motors yourself. Its available but you just have to make that trip there to buy it, unlike common bikes where shops will have them in stock. I had to order some parts from Japan for the Impulse. Rear grab rails, wear and tear is still avaialble locally.

power and handling: its got power, it defitnely is enough to use in SIngapore, overtaking and acceleration is there and might even be better than s4 considering its slightly lighter. nothing fantastic about handling though. pretty mundane and normal, then again it's not a supersports.

maintenance is your usual, 3L of EO, 4 plugs, coolant, air filter, oil filter. similar to most 2a bikes. just the parts issue i mentioned earlier.

sound wise its quite nice at idle. kinda bassy but not very. no aftermarket exhaust available if you want.

just bear in mind its a 15 year plus old bike, so it will look aged. wear and tear similarly.

what color is the bike with the tank dented? its very hard to get replacement tank unless you want to ship from Japan. will cost you around 200 SGD at least.

can specify what engine sound is loud? tapping? or the combustion?

i just sent the bike to Bike Fabricator to fix the main stand. turns out the bracket for the main stand on the bike has been sheared off. thats why the main stand will not fit even though its from an Impulse.

coupled with the story from Guan Hoe that the swingarm was replaced before, tells me the bike has been in quite a serious accident before in its life. forces strong enough to crack swingarm and shear off metal brackets.

but its fixed now, he welded it back in place and fix the stand back. easier to lube and maintain.

next up! derusting gas tank and paint job and job restoration is done!

Good job. When it was just transferred to me I also didn't know the swingarm has small crack until Planetmotor AhChong told me that when replaced the sliding bearing inside the swingarm, that's why i tried to order an used GSX750 swingarm from UK ebay, S750WP also knew that. Guanhoe auntie only told me that the owner before me was an indian rider but not the swingarm...

Impulse engine idling sound is slightly louder compared to other 400cc inline-4 bike, the grrr...grrr.. engine chain sound. @S750WP: bandit and impulse should be the same engine but how come bandit idling sound is almost like super4 one?

when I dealed with a bandit rider he told me it could be the timing chain or something to be replaced.

But when riding, the inline4 whistling engine sound is much the same as others and no more grrr...grrr... sound.

grrr sound is from the chain. i changed it and it's quiet now. got whistling sound...i like. like turbine whirring up.

Impulse no longer in production. last model was 2008.

The grr..grr...sound was from a worn drive chain, happen to my Impulse also, thought it was the timing chain, check my timing chain was ok during valve clearance. After replace with a new drive chain and front sprocket (oem), the sound was gone.

You bought a bandit?? I rather you buy a Impulse as its newer. FK and FL plate bandit is almost 20 years old now engine wear and tear parts bounds to happen.

No I don't have bandit. Guanhoe auntie also advised that the CDI of bandit easily spoilt few times a year if unlucky..

have spent 2k on the burgman so will keep it

let me know if anyone selling impulse

which chain u changed? the drive chain inside the engine or the normal chain between sprockets?

Like what S750WP said, if u change the drive chain inside the engine, should make idling sound (while bike is standstill) quieter like super4.

I would ask planet motor ah chong to call his supplier for the price of impulse spare parts.

Then i call KS motor to find out the price by myself.

If ah chong can get similar price, then let him order, just need to wait few hours for the delivery and installation.

chain between the sprocket ah. the front sprocket already worn out liao, so will have clack clack clack sound when cruising.

after change is totally quiet. and i also change back to stock rear sprocket size of 48, you were riding it with 45.

i almost done with the resto liao. just de rust the gas tank next week, and then paint job ok liao.

spring for rear suspension can be used, but is a bit soft. might change that if i got budget.

got a screw in my tire recently. only realised it when i hear sounds coming from the tires.

went through, good thing i brought it to planet to patch it up.

mech told me about time to change tyres so i might get that done. also told me cam chain tensioner may need to change too as bike starting to get noisy when idling.

bought the parts from KS motors. cam chain tensioner 60 bucks. gasket 3 bucks. pretty cheap. was expecting 100 plus.

Mah Motor along Jalan Besar just before Sim Lim Square scrapped impulse before.

oh yeah, finally contacted a Suzuki Impulse Owner!!!!

was crossing the road at Suntec area then saw this red/black impulse riding pass. i stunned and quickly chased after the rider. managed to catch him at the carpark.

turns out he was a friend of the ex owner of the bike. the indian fellow who sold the bike to byte77. now i can finally check and compare impulse to see condition and issues. ask him some questions and history.

after so long..........
