hey thomas im facing a minor problem on my bike. sometimes when stopping at traffic light, when i clutch in n down gear to gear1, eg, from 6 to5 , 4 then 3, sometimes the gear does not engage. ie my left foot supposed to feel a click when i engage to lower gears, but it will sort of slip thru, then i have to down shift a few more times. Is it high time to change my clutch plates since i feel this slipping feeling?

normally when u clutch in and down from 6th gear to 1st gear, this will happen. i duno how to explain to you... i myself also encounter this same problem which i suppose its normal. if at stationary, u clutch in and shift up gear from 1st to 6th gear, u might also encounter the same problem. best is to check with bike shop mechs... my 2 cents... :cool:

why u wana do it? is there a need to? i dun think so leh... my stock endcan was sleeping in the Yoshimura Encan box right after i changed to Yoshi... as long as u keep the endcan stand alone, nothing's gonna happen to it. in future when u install the stock endcan back to ur bike, after a few rounds or riding, everything should be cleared except some carbon... :dot: :cool:

Not rite...very very wrong leh. Tell you what we did and still do from the old days.

 

For long storage, pour some low vercosity oil in it and switch on you hi-fi system and disco and shake, tilt, rock whatever with the exhaust or can in your hands. the point is to get the motor oil fairly distrubed all over internally..so when it dry up, it act as a thin flim to prevent moisture from seating in. Most exhaust rust from inside out...worst being Kawasushi ones.

 

Caution: never use WD40..and degreaser?..I think you are making it rust faster. Ok...I know you want to clear your exhaust. For two stroke bike, we used to gas burner to heat from outside. The purpose is to dry and harden the 2T oil with carbon. after it cool off, take a block of wood and knock it along the exhaust. The knocking creates shocking vibration and losen the dry harden carbon from the inner body of the exhaust. Now..shake them out and no disco music needed. You be very surprise how much things comes out. If there is any silencer wool...its not quite affected.

 

You can do this to your can too but pour some petrol inside..not alot huh!..use your brain. Then use a portable gas burner to 'fire' from one end. Stay clear of the other end. Once you see flame coming from your opposite end, keep clear and let the amount of fire burn out. Yes..initially when your petrol catches flame, it sound pretty 'explosive' and the flame can also back fire. Aiya...no nee fireman suit lah. When cool and dry..likely knock...x3! with heavy wood block..then shake loose.
