In a complaining mood tonight. Have you guys seen the price of petrol now?$1.886 for Caltex SILVER! If I drive car into petrol station, worse! At least $70 gone. In 1999 I pump for my LC125PV I remember $0.8+ for low grade, SHELL XO only around $1.0+. If carry on like that, I needa take bicycle to work.

Anybody know where i can gat full knobbie tires for the v storm 1000?

did not heard of any knob tires available in sg for v strom, maybe u can check with JR n see if they can order a set of metzeler for u.

Alternative is to order a set of Continental tires from the US online n get it shipped over:

Continental Twinduro TKC80 front - USD117.86

Continental Twinduro TCK80 rear - USD162.86

got my info from here - http://www.amotostuff.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=dl650_tires_wheels

Yah.Actually I was looking for 500-750cc bike also. My 'lease' on STROM up early next year, dunno want to renew from friend ornot(depend if he staying in China or not). Was thinking of DR650/Fazer6/Bandit6/Strom650 those kind. I don't really use full power on my DL1k, such a waste!

i nearly died of boredom when i saw fazer6 in your list bro :p

i think the bandit6 really looks like a menacing road bike, especially if you put all 3 luggages.i saw one in the garage sales the other time.damn swee la.

and the DR is..all terrain?it seems like and old version of the new yamaha tenere :p

iqbal: wats wrong wif the FZ6? i contemplated on tat b4 settling for sharktooth here.. wif full fairing and side boxes it looks quite mean..

We can discuss that early next year when my 'lease' expire. :p Anyway, I dont know if its a DL1000 problem, 6 gear is only really smooth after 85km/h(around 3300rpm) on my K2. Spoke to Maan on his later model DL1k, same same problem. He said he seldom uses gear 5 even! Not sure if its a gear ratio problem on DL1k or Suzuki just wants us to speed.

Yupz.........FZ6 is too common, but resale price is good. My friend's Bandit serves him well, always travels up and down NS-HW with his wife, no problem. DR650 will be bike I use to travel further than Thailand (if I ever get the chance to), simple to fix, economical, dirt capable, light.

It's the same problem (not a problem actually) for most litre bike especially V-twin bikes. It should always be running above 3000rpm. Anything below u'll encounter some jerkiness.

If you complain too much, get inline bikes. :)

For me,

Gear 4 - 60-80 kph

Gear 5 - 80-100 kph

Gear 6 - 100+ kph

Seldom use gear 6 unless im riding after midnight where there are not much traffic. Most of the time in gear 5.

suzuki manual stated:

up shift:

1st to 2nd - 20kph

2nd to 3rd - 30kph

3rd to 4th - 40kph

4th to 5th - 50kph

5th to 6th - 60kph

every gear increment of 10..seems good n smooth to me

Couldn't agree less with Al-Simmons. Try this range n u will enjoy the Strom. This bike simply thrills to speed. Just dun get caught ok.

Is this for DL650 or DL1000? If I kick 5th @ 50kmh engine will knock like crazy, if I kick 6th @ 60kmh, engine stall, finger slow clutch in, mamaqye fly.

At first I thought its PowerCommander tuning problem,I took back re-tune also like that. Then I did syncronize throttle-body, slightly better but fuel consumption go up because makes rider more throttle happy.

that is for DL650. thats why im quite happy with the 650 which suits riding ard sg roads quite well. Only lacks the punch when on the NSH. I think theres some solution to the 1000 knocking problem discussed in the strom froum, it's abt removing the secondary butterflies if not wrong...
