Hey guys! I just got my license and I borrowed my cousin's fz16 to ride(subbed rider of course!) First thing he ask me to was to go for inspection. I went to the sinming's LTA. Being my first time going for inspection, I didn't know which lane to go, so I went to the security guard who was on the up slope. Being short, I only able to tip toe on the bike. While doing a right U turn on the slope I couldn't touch the floor and lost my balance hence dropping the bike.

There was another time on a down slope, I was stucked not knowing the gantry wasn't working. So I braked and drop my side stand but still couldn't stop the bike. I wasn't able to peddle the bike backwards(DUHHH) so I came down from the bike while holding on the brake. Luckily I was strong enough to pull the bike back a bit and then the gantry opened suddenly.

So I want to know how you experience riders out there cope with being stucked on slopes.

Appreciate all your help!😊

the general rule of thumb is, if you think you losing balance and going to fall, THROTTLE. centrifugal force means the bike automatically uprights itself when powered forward, regardless of your handlebar position or bike lean angle.

there may be some instances where throttling is not an option, such as gantry or other obstacle right in front of you, or engine already off. both of which i encountered before. in this case, the general rule of thumb is.... suck thumb. the former case i ended up back-pedaling a class 2 bike upslope with massive effort, the latter i fell.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

I guess I just need more experience! Haha! There is totally no way I can back pedal, even a 2b bike, I can only get down and push hahah!

I dropped my 2b bike thrice on a slope while parking. It was slanting to the right. Somehow I lost my balance and the bike drop to my right. Sigh some nice banglas riders chit chatting from opposite lane ran and helped me to lift up the bike as I was struggling. They advised me never parked my bike on the slope like that.

Another time (nearly fall but never) was just normal slope down at a jurong car park near to boon lay power nasi lemak. I had the concessionary car park so I just enter the gantry. Guess what the system prompt me to insert cash card.. Then that day I forgot. I was cursing and swearing and there are cars queuing behind me.. Gosh tried pedaling back really tough! is a steep slope down. And I nearly lost my balance when trying to alight and push backwards.

Then luckily barrier open...

Next time if gantry for some reason won't open and you're on a slope. If there is a comms button to call for assistance press it and get them to open it for you since u cannot backpedal with motorcycles. Better to try your luck that way and hope the attendant is not an ******* rather than pushing it back out the way you came.

If you're going up slope it's less of a problem than down.

There are some bike lots stupidly designed that way. private property parking i not surprised because they generally heck care bikers. but i disappointed hdb parking opposite queensway shopping center is like this. i witnessed cruiser rider fall at this lot. when he arrived at the lot, i already thinking bikers should not bother with those lots. then i turned away, heard a heavy fall, turned again and the biker and bike nowhere in sight. totally puzzled until i saw from the other side of another parked bike the biker slowly emerging upwards, struggling with the bike. i would have run over to help just that i genuinely confused he disappeared when i turned to look.

if the slope is parallel to bike lot i can still understand, but who the idiot who design and the idiot who approve a bike lot perpendicular to the steep slope? public hdb parking really not acceptable like this.

if this happens to anyone and you have concessionary, dun bother: press the button (manned 24h) and insist you have concessionary and give your plate number. they no choice must let the gantry up, and usually they will without fuss. some gantry sensor really quite screwed. fortunately my estate's gantry so far works perfectly for my vehicles.

but last time when it happened to me, it was the time when concessionary not yet implemented and carparks were only beginning to convert to gantry from coupon. hdb carpark beside CCK Lot 1 ended up with gantry but then bikes the gantry will auto-open and use coupon when parking, only cars use cashcard. one fine day they completed the system for bikes to use cashcard but i totally missed the notice signboard, so the exit gantry refused to go up. so back-pedaled.... massive effort.
