Aftermarket rotors are normally 4mm in thickness, whereas OEM ones are 3mm..

the differences in thickness can make you feel that braking is more efficient when using aftermarket ones..

also due to the wear and tear of your OEM rotors, you will immediately notice a difference in braking when you changed to aftermarket ones..

braking will be stiffer and more sensitive.. overall, after market rotors is a very good upgrade if you got the dough..

I second that..

Generally those engineers that designed Super4 have thoroughly considered this aspect as safety is the greatest concern. I think OEM is still dearly recommended unless the aftermarket parts are much more cheaper.

what about those made-in-china flower disc brakes for the rear?

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

they are the same thickness as OEM..

it's cheaper and nicer alternative if you need to change your rear disc..

but you'll need to be careful when you washing your rims.. it had sharp edges due to the design..

so the feel of a more efficient brake when using the flower disc is not there as compared to aftermarket ones which are 4mm? am i right?

due to the wear and tear of your OEM rotors.. (if bought 2nd hand, maybe never changed for 7yrs liao??)

you will definately feel the difference in braking effect when changed to a new disc, be it flower or OEM..

but do take note, rear brake is 30% effort.. a rear brake that bite hard is not good..

yup i am aware of that.. thank you for patiently answering my doubts..

i stil recommend u guys to go for aftermarket front disc like braking/galfer.. the response of the brake can be felt immediately after u install... but of cos.. $$ is the problem.. quite costly..

For bikes, brake discs seem to be able to use for a long time compare to cars. Weight related? Ya, price for S4 front n rear for reference, please... :cheeky:

How time flies...

Big is certainly a warning but small can be downright scary! Never underestimate the effectiveness of small.

BRAKING disc during the NBW was sold at $410 per disc. thus it is $820 for a pair of front.

it is already cheap compare to back then when i fixed it cost 950. but no regret and it really make a world of difference in brake distance and performance.

fyi

i had a 929 master pump, with hel brake hose and braking disc.
