So if u guys were in my situation what would you do ?

Do u guys still send for repairs/service ? or do u guys just sell of this bike ? What are the procedures of selling it back cos this is only my 3rd payment with the shop ! Long way to go !

every month, there will always be a new rider who will fall victim to such unscrupulous act. I was a victim years ago. sorry to hear of your problem. you can surely sell but if to any bike shop, you would surely lose lots and lots of money. but if you sell to a direct buyer, then your conscience will perhaps tell you is it nice to sell to a innocent person like yourself?

if you got enough money, go to Yamaha authorised workshop. maybe expensive to repair but probably they know what is exactly wrong with your bike. get to know many others fz16 owners. pinpoint the problem.read what they have to say in this forum

sell or keep, you have to balance your budget.

First off, don't go back to them to repair or service. You don't want to give them any more money than you already have. And even if they offer "warranty", high chance they will do a **** care job.

You have 3 choices now:

-Learn how to repair and service the bike yourself or get an honest workshop to assist you. FZ16 is not difficult to work on yourself, I used to have one.

-Sell it back to the shop, and lose some money, most likely they will just take it back, give you nothing, but you don't have to pay for the bike anymore.

-Be an ******* and try to sell it to someone else and get them to COI. I don't recommend this.

I personally bought a DRZ before that was cheap but in horrible condition, but I chose to learn how to fix some parts myself, and got another trusted workshop to do more difficult things like carburetor jettings and valve adjustment.

If you choose to try and fix your bike, you can let us know what is the issue with your bike and if I have done it before I can give you some instructions.

I assume you bought a 'used' bike, so be conscious that it is 'used'.

Some of the repairs might not be too expensive. This may sound ridiculous but you can offer to pay for parts (and they take care of labor).

Or you can go to other workshops if you are unhappy with their attitude.

Manage your expectation on the amount of 'after sales service' to expect. But some bike shops are unethical (regardless of their size & reputation).

I had a similar experience (some 20 something years ago). The bike was more than 10 years old and I bought it below 2K (bike was much cheaper then). Problems start to surface after a few days of riding and I had to go back for repair. The boss also start to show he was unhappy. After riding for about 4 weeks, the engine block seized-up and the boss ask me to pay for the repair.

I just took it as I 'suay' to buy from that shop & had choose this bike.

Understand your rights, they are ******* for selling problematic bike. I understand the feeling as I was also in your situation before.

Have you kept all the receipt for all your repairs? Please report such business so that new rider will not encounter bad experience like ours.

The Lemon Law is a consumer protection law that provides remedies against defective goods (colloquially known as “lemons”), which fail to conform to the contract at the time of delivery, e.g. do not meet standards of quality and performance, especially after repeated repair. Under the Lemon Law, consumers may require the business to repair, replace, reduce the price of the goods or perform a refund if the goods are found to be defective. For defects that occurred within a period of six months from the date of delivery, it is presumed that the goods failed to conform to the implied condition of satisfactory quality at the date of delivery. However, Lemon Law does not cover individuals who contract in a business capacity or on behalf of a company. In this regard, private-hire cars are not covered under Lemon Law.
