No does not work with u-clear.

 

Tried this morning: l like to confirm that U Clear BT Headset Communicator is not compatible (cannot pair) with Zumo 660.

 

I note that U Clear's code is 0000. Zumo 660 is 1234.

I can hear your zumo 660 routing instruction and the media player music playing from U-Clear Headset !!!!

 

The Key is the step or procedure to follow:

 

Must master reset the U-Clear (if it had previously been paired with other BlueTooth devices). Master Reset by pressing all 3 (Answer, Up, Down simutaneously).

Must also disconnect or unpair any BlueTooth Devices from the Zumo 660

 

Next pair the the U-Clear to the Zumo 660:

a) For Pairing, Press the Up & Down together to make it discoverable

b) On Zumo Screen, Search for Bluetooth device U-Clear HBC 100.

c) On the Zumo Screen, Select & Pair the zumo with U-Clear HBC 100

 

After testing the successful connection, u can then proceed to pair and connect your mobile with zumo 660.

After a voice call, the zumo 660 needs to be switched Off, then swithched On for routing instruction to restart.

 

 

Note: No direct pairing of U-Clear with your mobile if you want 2 devices (the Zumo 660 and mobile) to work to co-exist.

 

So, I have to correct myself to say that Zumo 660 is compatible with U-Clear !!!

 

Now, Zumo 660 with BlueTooth can be one of my choice.

Thanks for your review. How about connecting the devices to the Zumo. Then from then pair to your u clear.

zumo itself to U-clear : can

 

but if simultaneously wanna pair both at the same time to u-clear you can't do it. u-clear will only recognize only 1 of the 2. Unless you pair the phone to the zumo then the zumo pairs to the U-clear. becos zumo itself has 2 bluetooth connection. 1 for phone & the other for audio.

 

that was what i found out after fiddling between the 3 items. then i remembered reading somewhere the U-clear can only accept 1 active connection at anytime.

Did you upgrade the fireware of the Zumo? Seems after the upgrade my connection to U clear seems to have frequent drop in communication. I got tired of the comms breaking I changed the bluetooth to the Scala. Seems the Scala works real well.

nope. i didn't upgrade the firmware. i've always believed in if the item works fine, then i dun c the need to upgrade the firmware.

Furthermore, i've read in the zumoforums, alot of them got some bugs packaged when they upgraded.

 

I like my zumo the way it is for now. hehe. can pair with my phone & U-clear. good enuff.

I remember what Scuddy shared about frequent drop in communication (though not with the exact words). That happens after a voice call ("communication"? ). To correct it, just switched Off and then On the Zumo to remedy the frequent drop. Definitely a U-Clear's quirk that's not with Scala's.

 

I think, when you upgrade the software of Zumo, it's best to start afresh by deleting existing pairing, then pair again. IMHO, correct me if I'm wrong.

 

U-Clear without the boom, you guess, really captivates me. The tiny microphone "hidden" or "tucked away" should lessen wind blasting on it.

I like the smallness without compromising quality sound. Also long battery life. BUT it loses out in distance intercom and clipping sturdiness.

If you hike more than ride, choose the Oregon whereas if you ride more than hike, then it has to be the Nuvi5X0.

 

The worrying thought of buying the Oregon450 is that it could be discontinued at any moment like the Oregon 200, 300, 400x

No issues. My nuvi 550 was from there. You may or may not get the base map. But no issues if you use it here cos you can dl the mfm maps. Cheers.
