i see, for mine currently suits only motul.. tried ah pek eo but my bike just seems dun cooperate with it:(

hence i just replaced it back to motul, with only 1 week of use. wasted:(

Too bad...first time I ever heard of such anyway. It will help if you can expalin what u meant by "cooperate". What did u do at Ah Fook when changing gasket?..why was there a backfire issue and believe it been solved but u never share with anyone as how it was solved and why? Be great to know so evryone here oso learns. Btw..forgot, how long u been on this S4..just bought right?

hi, im hving 1 problem with my spec 1. now whenever i ride my bike, i can feel the front part like got a hump like that. i checked my tyre, doesnt hv a hump on it. now im thinking whether is the front fork or the wheel bearing. its like i am going pass a small hump every second. help!

Could be your fork upper or lower clamp not tighten properly. What about ur rim..had you bump into a pot hole lately? Anyway..oso have your cone and front wheel bearings check.

Hi ahpek, yup i just got my s4 less than 2weeks.

After replace ur engine oil, inital is ok pretty smooth but from the second night onwards my ride became slightly rougher.

No issue on high speed or high rev just that i felt my bike became rougher upon hitting 5k rpm and abv.

I gave it a week to perhaps allow my bike to synchonise with the engine but the roughness still persist.

So i became quite worry, hence finally decided to drain off the eo roday and replace it back to motul 300v.

But i believe ah pek's eo is definately suitable for majority of the bikes, the reviews are true and written by individual own heart. Maybe only mine, the unique one. Haix.

Oh ya, i went to ah fook to replace the gasket and starter carbon, w/o changing the engine oil.

The backfire issue was due to one of the air tubing below the fuel tank was not connected back.

and ya, alomost forgot, ah pek i 'll book an appointment with u soon to do up the grounding.

:cheer:

Glad to have u in my life : ) Always love one another!

Thanks for ur description and it really helps others that might have the same issue sometime. IMHO..I think its not so much the eo. Much older bike cannot be ridden low on the rmp scale of usage. One have to understand that there are many parts that are worn and do 'rattle' internally where more roughness or vibration be felt..but if running on higher rpm, the speed up of things in motion inside helps.

I was concern Ah Fook may have top up some eo during his work about that may have retard the performance due to too much eo. Since its not the case..do monitor the new eo u are using now as it was only done lately. If all is well, I guess its more suited for ur ride.

Btw..be overseas day after tomorrow..be back only after 1st of next month. Ride safe bro :0)

Hi guys, i have a slightly problem.

Basically, whenever i use engine brake and slowly release the clutch, my chain has some weird sound (not sure how to explain) then it disappears. It only happens when i release my clutch, it appears for a short period then its gone. I just changed my sprockets, chain and clutch plates abt less than a month back (Stock sprockets & DID X-ring gold chain..clutch plates are meant for 1000cc bikes, the mech just changed it and said it was better). What could be the real problem?

thx guys.

Went down to the mechanic and figured out the problem. I went to brother motor previously to change my clutch plates and they apparently removed one part from my bike and did not put it back. I thank unique motors at toh guan for finding the problem.

Regarding that missing item, i am not sure what it is called, its placed after you put in the plates and the spacers, some spring thing....anyone knows or where to find it? thank you.

Hi guys,

I'll be going for my 2A in Dec and intends to get a CB400. Is there any part of the forum where i can find the diff specs and physical differences? I can't really tell one CB400 from another on the road.

Thanks

Don't think can find anywhere...just look around and look closely....spec 1 and 2 is different from spec 3 and revo in terms of appearance..

1 to 3 runs on carb..while revo is fuel injected...

spec wise u can search the net.....

basically all is different in some way or another..but require to write a short essay if decribe in details.

well... physical difference i wld

say can look at d speedometer. and can also look at d plate number. btw.. its nt 100% accurate cuz these parts could be changed. eg: a spec 1 can b using a FBA plate when its actually an FR - FU plate. speedometers i heard spec 2 can use spec 1 speedo n vice versa (nt too sure abt this).

See Wiki

Essentially, Revo is the first fuel injected CB400.

Google the various models for images as well. E.g. "Honda CB400 Spec II" and etc.

Visually, the tailboard for the Spec III and Revo looks the same. They have the sharper tail and LED rear lights compared to the Spec II's more "box-y" rear lights.

First generation Revos have silver/grey engines. They then made the Revos with black engines for 2011.

Would appreciate your kind advice.. =)

For easy identification of specs can be determine by either their plate, year of production and coe.

PB1,VER R & S are FQ and BELOW.

Spec 1 - FR to FT / 1999 to 2001

Spec 2 - FU to FW / 2002 to 2003

Spec 3 - FX to FBB / 2004 to 2007

Revo - FBC to PRESENT / 2008 to PRESENT.

People do correct me if i am wrong okie. Ride safe! :)

Just use the info provided in the last few posts as a guide. Once you see a bike you may consider, best to just ask the seller to re-confirm if it is a Spec I, II or whatever.

If you are afraid you might get conned, print out a copy of the sales thread with the seller's confirmation of year of manufacture and model. E.G. Seller says Spec I but after you bought the bike your mechanic or Boon Siew says it is a Version S bike, you have the right to cancel the deal and seller has to refund to you. I must say that this is an extreme example and probably won't happen.

The be safe than sorry way would be to meet buyer for viewing. If really shiok with the bike and die die must buy kind of situation, place a $100 deposit with seller. Get chassis number and verify with Boon Siew next day. If Boon Siew ask you to wait too long, maybe can ask seller to meet at your trusted mechanic for verification. This is for those who might be super kiasu...

Anyway, like I said before, the pictures of the various models are readily available on the internet. Best thing you can do for yourself is to visit a few bike shops and look at the actual bikes. Salesmen are very friendly because they are hoping to sell you a bike. So just ask any them questions. They'll be happy to answer you. BTW, don't be shy to appear like a noob with the salesmen. This is part of the learning process which I myself went through.

Hope this helps.

Hi, Seniors/Mentors

Need some help to look for replacement part.

My trusty old beat up S4 Ver S Rev RPM counter has gone "berzerk".

I believe it has ceased it's function, goin full rev 15 Thou at crusing 100km/h only.

Questions

1.Where can get used working Ver S Meter set? Price?

Or I just need to change the Rev counter only?

2.Does aftermarket local made frm LAB worth buying?

3.Any Shop Name, location, contact to refer to?

Appreciate any recommendation:)

Any advise from seniors here?

Another thing to look for is the meter.

For PB1, VERS R and S

1.It's bike mileage is analog meter, is on the left Speedometer.

2.The fuel indicator in the centre is also analog as well.

For Spec1 onwards the milege and fuel is indicator is digital.

If u are allow to try the bike, do drag over 7krpm, u shld feels the vtec kick in.

Good luck!

Glad to have u in my life : ) Always love one another!

The rev counter I believe is sold as a whole piece by itself including the scale readings and needle. Its one of the most expensive part. Have u tried asking Chiong Aik, FJT...etc? Best is to find a secondhand unit that works ok. PM me if u can't find one..I may have access to one from an accident bike.
