If you use a motocross type boots with soft rubber soles, putting your foot down on the track at high speed will result in an instant grab which will yank your foot in the opposite direction of your slide.

Thanks, man! A good point!

Me slowly picking up tips beofre I mod the bike up.

gonna get use to the geometry first.

hi there,

need some assistance with some questions relating to DRZ 400 SM

1) Should i remove the PAIR system if the bike is running in stock exhaust?

2) Do i need to change from ACCT to MCCT if the bike is running in stock condition?

3) For a stock bike which is used for transportation purpose only, do i need to do the jettings and modifications to the stock carb similar to putting a JD kit in?

4) Am i correct to say that to make the bike more fuel efficient, use only stock items (eg:- exhaust system, carburettor , etc)

Thanks for the clarifications......

Remove the PAIR, it will let the engine run cooler.

Leave the rest if it is only a transport bike.

The question is.... how long before you get itchy and want more power out of the bike. Coz once that one starts.... there will be no turning back.

you got your answer from the most experienced rider..

still want more?? :cheeky:

maybe you can drop the MCCT in and do some regreasing and stator bolts loctite fix..

as a transport bike, DRZ is very durable..

once you start modding.. be prepared..

these are insurance mods.. not for better FC..

ACCT to MCCT = to prevent over tensioning of your cam chain..

Regreasiing = stock bike does not have grease at axles, steering cone, swingarm link.. not having grease in these areas will cause premature failure in your bearings..

stator loctite = known problems of these bolts coming loose..

read thumpertalk FAQ.. will get our own FAQ to be up asap..

needs some clarifications....

if order to run the engine cooler for a stock DRZ, am i suppose and advisable to do the following?

1) remove the PAIR system

2) remove the plastic shield/cover on the left side of the engine

3) remove carb solenoid piston

is 3X3 air box mod necessary for a stock DRZ?

Thanks for sharing....

1) yes

2) no necessary

3) i didnt removed mine

4) try with your airbox cover off, if you feel that bike runs smoother without airbox cover, then do the 3X3 mod.. if not, no need to cut..

Hi Guys,

For Zee tires which one is good Michelin or Perelli tires? They said Michelin Pilot power is good.

1) For the rear tires 150/70 R17 or 160/70 R17 which one is better.

2) Roughly how much for both front and rear tires cost.

3) Roughly which shop can get most of the accessories cheap....

Pls advise....tks in advance :)

my rear tyre is 160/70 n the chain bite off my side tyre. I advice to take 150.. Im also changing my tyre soon.

ISA, AFAM or Superspox are good spockets..

EK or DID X-ring chains are better..

probably is time to replace drivetrain..

normally chain and spocket can last quite a while if maintained properly (frequently lubed and cleaned).. my friend's FZ6 one can last 3yrs, it's always on scottoiler..

to keep chain good and lasting, lubing is important..

not accelerating fast and sudden throttle blip will keep the chain lasting too..

aluminium spockets like Renthal and AFAM normally are for races and cannot last long.. look for those that are treated with alloy or steel for lasting durability.. Superspox is one such spocket..
