Backpack it's not waterproof has it's reason one.. I believe you guys have experience of bag inner part starts to flake off and worst the interior starts to become sticky. That is because of this special coating layer being spread onto the bag textitle. That is why backpack we seen in the market are mostly water resistant (light amount able to flow through the fabric without leaking into the backpack, but would not be able to restand heavy rain)

Why not getting yourself a raincover? Raincover is something like those kinda shower cap. It has draw string type and also elastic strap type. It comes in various sizes, depends on the size of your bag (litres). Just cover the whole bag when you need to. With this you can save money and also serve the purpose of a water proof bag.

Has not happened for my TIMBUK2 yet after 7 or 8 years of use. It's a really good product. Did I mention that I have 2 more for sale?

Scared that your laptop will get water damaged when you ride in the rain? Heres a tip that i would like to share.

Have a small garbage bag folded neatly away in one of your bag compartments. If the weather looks like its about to rain, put your laptop and any water sensitive object into the garbage bag, tie it up, and put the whole thing back into your backpack.

Your bag might be wet, but your laptop will be dry.

and if you already have a backpack that you like, why not just buy a laptop sleeve? its way cheaper than buying a whole new bag, yeah?

This is ala packing for Army field camp?

Tried that. Too much of a hassle.

Moreover, there are times where I'm real positive about the weather and then Bam! I get skies' grace while riding....

Anyways, that's IMO :)
