I've a TA150 tat I've been riding for amost 10yrs(1st owner) and it's coming to time to decide whether to sell and buy a new bike(Honda tiger). Current bike has never given me any major issues except for wear and tear replacements; never overhaul before and so far, no need to as bike is functioning well. Got to make a decision this mth as my COE expires in July...and the date is 15th if I'm not wrong. Had chain and tires replaced last year.

Thinking of selling this bike and getting the Honda Tiger(was quoted 6.8k by bike production, excluding insurance/IU).

I would like to sell it for a few hundred dollars and buy a new bike? If there is no value to the bike, I will renew COE for 5 or 10yrs.

What do u guys think??

I'm not exactly sure if the Tiger is a worthwhile upgrade, since it has a TA200 engine on a small 'streetfighter' frame.

Then again the TA200 isn't exactly very heavy either, at 140kg stock, so I don't expect a massive performance gain. infact the TA150's top speed likely will still be superior. Fuel economy however will be far superior to the TA150 especially considering the bike's age.

Therefore I would keep the TA150, doll it up and will continue to serve you until COE expires. Well, COE is going up now but still cheaper than a new bike.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the bike has served me well.Do u think the bike worth to sell? If no, then I will keep the bike for 5 years.

I'll suggest that u keep this bike for another 10yrs.

1. U r the only owner for this bike, u know his health than anyone. Can say u saw his brith till today.

2. TA150 is the only class 2B power cruiser, that is sport engine in cruiser.

In furture, might become a collector bike????????? Like RD or Katana.

3. Sell for a few hundred dollars, better overhual for few hundred dollar. can serve u well for next 10 years. COE so expensive today.

FYI

Insurance NCB(if u scrap or sell) & IU(if u scrap) can be transfer to your new bike.

aiseh... another person like me...

now, no one can tell you to sell or not.

if this is jus a transport bike, and it has served u well for 10yrs, then why not another 10?

i renewed COE for mine and sold it as it is time for me to upgrade to a bigger cc bike. i see no point in me keeping 2 bikes thats why i sell, and i have no regrets.

current ride has so much more horsepower, pickup is great, and lastly, FC is even better than the ta150...wahahaa...

dont scrap it, renew COE and if you want to change bike later on, you can still get a good price for it. reason is you are 1st owner, and bike lasted 10yrs no problem.

Just thinking that with new bike, save FC(4stroke), less maintenace, less road tax and time to try something new....but.....u're right tat I know this bike well since it's with me for 10years:). Tat's why it's so hard a decision.

When my engine has finally exploded from being forced fed ram air I will strip the bike down and preserve as a monument in my living room :D

can use as sofa

..wait..

You know what those xiao ang mohs who like flightsims do, they make their own cockpits complete with working aircraft style gauges to play computer games on. Bet with enough time, I could create a rideable Need for Speed console :D

Thanks guys. Just to let u know tat I've renewed my COE for 10yrs. Did most stuff today; renewed COE online; called NTUC to renew 3rd party insurance, will collect tomorrow.....and went down to Planet to change battery and oil.

Next step will be to go down for test.

So when can we other pks see your 10 year war veteran :D

My bike same like me, non-modified with wear and tear. Now need to think wat I need to do to make it younger: d. Taking my time as got 10 years lol. Most important is to replace all worn parts.

No rush on it; so long as the mechanical bits are sound, got no complaints with any stock Phantom. It's quite well designed as it is. I stopped my customisations before they even began, almost. Will have no love for the bike if I laid down a thousand dollars for someone else to do the fun hack and slash bits.

In my mostly Soviet taste, well designed implies functional, rugged... if not indestructible lol.
