Hi everyone, i recently got an 05 rs125, and learned how to diy my bike, like clean carbs, change brakepads, all simple stuff, i hope to learn how to do more in-depth stuff from experienced owners like tuning, and changing pistons.

Also hoping to get a knn filter and boyeseen reeds, but wondering is the vforce better, but does it increase consumption as well. also wondering if i can get these locally if not ill grab it from pjme. using rotax 122 and fully derestricted with derestricted cdi(diy), powervalve, rave unit, cleared pipe, also im doing an average of 170km before it hits reserve wondering if its normal or im having a badly tuned rs. Also wondering what are your pilot and idle jet sizes and which are reccommended in our climate?

Also my 2t finishes fairly fast(within 3 weeks) also leaking black liquid from the end can (i think its excess 2t) and ive just screwed in the 2t hose and its half as open as it used to wondering if itll be damaging to the engine or what the adverse effects it will have on the bike.

Lastly the spark plug i recently bought (br9eix) is like black in color at the tip does that mean its too cold and what should i do from what i know it should be more towards being brownish in color.

thanks for the time :) caleb

Hey Caleb,

Im not that experienced myself. But i ride an 05 as well. So i thought id just let you know that my tank (up till reserve) gives me around 200km, if i ride without rev-ing too much! Otherwise yeah, it goes down to around 170.

The spark plug!! I had the same experience. Replaced mine with a new one. But it was black as hell after just two months. Like i said, i'm pretty noob >.

lol. well at least i got my answer. thanks!

and btw to frostscythe, black spark plug means ur running rich, meaning more fuel in ur A/F ratio, thus explaining ur high FC. and pls dun adjust ur 2T pump if u dun know what ur doing. Sure topping up 2T every 3wks is a *****, but a little sludge and smoke and spending that extra couple of bucks on more 2T is nothing compared to a piston seizure due to the lack of it. In this case, based on advice and experience more is better. I'd suggest u refer to someone with more knowledge. Yes DIY is a very good thing, but theres a distinct line between "Doing it yourself" and "not knowing what ur doing but still doing it yourself" im sure u wouldnt wana experiment on an Aprilia. Nt to say that i never did any experimenting myself before bt i did mine on an SP. Much cheaper to fix WHEN u f**k up compared to an Aprilia. cheers!

It's not the rain, its your carburetion. It all boils down to your fuel/air and fuel/2T mixture.

Join us for DIY if you want to learn a thing or two about your bike.

Otherwise, get your wallet ready to pay more for little to no improvement sending it to a workshop.

Good advice. But there's a much better way to go about getting proper mixtures.

And without having to seize your expensive engines too.

Hey friends,

Im riding an RS 125, '05. Currently got a small problem. My fuel gauge is spoilt (and it cant be salvaged! :[ ). Meaning that my bike is now unable to compartmentalise the main tank and the reserve tank. So i have to monitor my fuel usage carefully or ill end up stalling it somewhere! Took it to my workshop, and they're out of second hand ones. And ordering a new one is ex. Anybody knows where i can get this part for a reasonable price? Thanks :)

u mean ur fuel knob? e thing tt determines whether ur using reserve or main? juz keep it on reserve n estimate, it'll take 2-3 early refuels to get it rite but yea, saves up ur cash on getting a new knob. im riding on reserve all e way, my knob's spoilt as well, no biggy =)

the one and only...

Hey,

Thankss for the advice! :) Yep, been riding like that for a while now. But i just don't have the peace of mind! Its the knob yes, but on the inside. The hole broke and expanded like crazy after i met with an accident some time back. I'll keep looking, and ill let you know if i find any lobang!

Cheers,

Talking about millage, this last week i've been trying to change my riding habbit from "mad rush" to smoother play. Got 1:25km now hoho, sometimes it's just not always abt tuning anyway.. =)

hey guys, i remembered previously posting that i'd do a review on a new workshop. Yes i did want to; but after thorough contemplation and read-through, i realised that its better via Word of Mouth.. perhaps can be discussed during a meetup or smthing.. There are postives and negatives.

But the best thing is - stuff posted here esp direct flaming can be considered 'Black and White' and i knoe some places have carried out legal proceedings with this.

But one things for sure.. "Nothing's for sure!" ~Sting from WCW (2002).

and.. it just amuses me when ppl mistake our RS125s for a 1000cc or 600cc bike with their gaping jaw dropped look..!

Ride safe..!

Hello guys, been awhile since I posted, but have been reading regularly. Would like to know when the next DIY is being organised.

When the winds resist my impetus and sights become passing shadows. Every other sound is voided, all but the undeniable roar of my engine.

My physical vision recepts naught, but my mind is tranquil.

me too. my parts just arrived. :D

A few DIYs have been organised in the past few months, and a number of new members have attended. I'm sure you can ask around to see if anyone is available to conduct a DIY to share simple maintenance procedures.

I was thinking of working on my bike on 11 Oct. I have a number of things to do, like change my carburetor and tune it, which usually takes hours to get the correct jetting work (workshops usually pretend to tune it but they are just adjusting the air screw), install my autonomous chain oiler, and clean the bike.
