Hello, new kid on the block.

Would like some guru's here to help me out between Aprilia RS125 / Caviga Planet / Mito.

Which would be ideal for a first bike?

Thanks a million :)

Both are about the same...but perhaps you should ask on how to maintain the bikes mentioned.....then from there, u can narrow down on the kind of bikes ur looking for and within the range of ur likings....:thumb:

Hi bro, i used to be an owner of the rs 2006. By far, never had much problem with the bike as i would usually service the bike before its time to be serviced

Once every 2 months (clock about 1300km) i would usually change the gear oil (maxima), spark plug and wash the valves) this would only cost roughly $60 - $80.

Try not to abandon the servicing or delay it. Like others i've seen, they would neglect washing the valve then it would cause the valve itself to jam. From there it might lead to breaking of valve etc... This are the basic things i would do as problems usually arise when the basics are neglected from my opinion. This actually apply to most bikes be it asia or euro make.

Anyone else to contribute or correct me if i'm wrong...:cheeky:

haha...i know the rough life span taught to me but just got the habit to change it when i do my servicing since i got bad experience with foul spark plugs, wet spark plugs and scratches in the piston area due to the breakage of the tip of the spark plugs...:cheeky:

but then again it depends on individual...dun mean any offence bro...Its extra money, no doubt. But money best spent to make sure you get the longest life possible out of the bike (barring other problems). For me, its to save any inconveniences and maybe further $$$ spending to repair some damages due to a $12plus item (spark plug) ..

maybe i can afford abit but not rich la, hehe...:thumb:

No offence intended...Just my opinion i wish to share on my way of caring my bikes......

I actually wanted to get the RS125 but settled for the Tuono125 instead. From what i understand, it got the same config as the RS except that it is a naked and cheaper. RS and Mito are probably the highest end 2B bikes, can't get any better. But i personally feel that these 2B italian bikes looks better than their performance(heavier compared to other jap 2B bikes) plus higher cost of maintenance. If you going for look, don't mind paying more, then go for it.

Apr-08 to Feb-10 Aprilia Tuono 125

Feb-10 to May-11 Suzuki GSR 400

May-11 to Oct-11 Ducati 848

Current Triumph Street Triple R....loving it

All the mentioned bike are pretty nice. Italian bike difference from jap is the ergronomics and character. Performance is there.

However, do take note. Italian need more tender loving care, cost more to maintain.

Just like don't expect a alfa romeo to be cheaper than a toyota vios in maintenance.

Hi there. Owned and rode RS and Mito extensively. Rode on track couple of times too (thats about 6-7 years ago). I feel the RS is far better than any 125cc on the market (6-7 yrs ago). Its that lovely rotax engine and the 32mm Dell'orto Carb. set it up right and maintain it well, then no problems. Easy to take it apart and put it back too, i.e. you got some idea of mechanical stuff. Therefore DIY. Save ya $$$.

hello.. i'm a new bird here too.. would like to know whether the older models of rs and mito would be worth investing in.. like... a pre 2000 mito?

Sorry I dun think there is a need to change spark plug every 1.3k km clocked. For me I change only when I feel I cannot start the bike easily. Basically one sparkplug every 12 months.

I'll just find an RD350, put some fairings, mod it, tune it, put on some illegal chamber pipes. For the money you're gonna fork out for those measly 125s, its damn well possible huhuhu
