eh, why you guys like seems to have many thing to change one arh ?????

Until now, my milage around 17,000km been changing only EO and oil filter and transmission oil.

Only recently changed to iridium plugs, don't feel any difference leh

I see SW9000 changing Roller, EO+filter+transmission oil, Air filter, sparkplugs, synchronising.

Questions now :

1. Change roller for what and is it a must ?

2. what is synchronising ?

3. What is final drive oil ?

Heehee just only know how to ride and some basic knowledge like EO change :cheeky:

at 17k, you've done about what's required and as recommended by the manufacturer. most of us has passed 20+k and if you check the manual, more would be required at that "window". of course there'll be riders who'll change only when something breaks while some prolong a part's use life judging on their experience/usage pattern (e.g. change belt after 35k), but that's up to individual. and there're kiasi riders who'll change the tires just becoz the tires are 3 years old even when the treads are still ok :p

its like drinking 凉茶 herbal tea, some drink regularly but some will only drink when their nose bleeds... hahaha :D

Questions now :

1. Change roller for what and is it a must ?

rollers are the stuffs that changes the "gear ratio" by rolling in/outwards inside the variator. a smooth rolling (or sliding if using Dr Pulley) roller will allow smoother transition between speeds or acceleration as compared to worn out ones. imagine the rollers get stuck (don't need all) and refuse to come "down" when u are riding at 90km/h? only 1 speed, slowing down/stopping could become very tricky, worse if there're "obstacles" around... si bay suay + rollers si bay jia lat = siow liow

2. what is synchronising ?

SWing's engine is twin bore, i guess that's to coordinate their "firing". good coordination gives less vibration, smoother ride and possibly better fuel economy. alike a 2-man canoe, if front n back rowers don't coordinate well, they can't get optimal performance/speed even if they row their balls out :p

3. What is final drive oil ?

transmission oil

I see SW9000 changing Roller, EO+filter+transmission oil, Air filter, sparkplugs, synchronising.

I changed roller at 18k because when open up to clean (clear the dust), my mech realised that 3 of the rollers were not round anymore, i.e. with flatten sides.

No choice but to replace, if not might damage the variator.

I suspect the rollers can't last as long as the belt, which is similar to my EVO250 where 2x roller change = 1x belt change.

Air filter generally can use up to 20k after that should replace liao, unlike foam type where you should be cleaning it every month. Don't make your engine overwork due to poor air intake or unbalanced cylinders.

Everything I set at 18k/36k so no need to make extra trip to shop. 1 time finish can last up to 9 months with just an oil change in between.

They service big bikes... so cannot expect scooters specialist type of pricing.
