Some batches are with Hoop, some IRC Japan.

I got it changed at a bike shop in Kakit Bukit at $180.

U made me look like torturing my SW... 35k+ I have only done routine oil, spark plug, gear oil and coolant changes. No belt chnage yet, plan to do at 40k. The rest remains pretty much untouched..

Hmm, I'm been using Maxima Gear Oil

How frequent in your opinion should the change be? 10,000km?

I think the owners manual indicates 12K - but i do mine DIY between 8K to 10K. For filling i use a hospital type Drip feed with tubes etc which i hang from the rear top box plate - 330cc takes quite a while to seep into the small little filler hole. Used to use a syringe but was too messy and the oil to thick.

can consider using this http://www.elann.com/images/image1/t1234082.jpg

Did try that before but it took ever so long - so made a hole at the base of the bottle to allow for air to fill vacuum but still too slow. So invested in the Drip Feed and now all i do is hang the thingy and let gravity do the work whilst i get on with other things - last time whole job took only 25 minutes.

the mech who did the change for me was able to squeeze eo in quite easily n within secs. he actually flushed the dirty black oil out by squeezing in eo (with the drain plug still open) until clean eo starts coming out. then leave to drip dry before closing plug and refilling the required 330ml. i was surprised by his ease as many said its a troublesome process.

Reporting from CH.

Me alone here... no mei mei.

Alamak... brought everything except my CAMERA!

So, just use your imagination hor.

Day 1 (8 Mar):

0630 Left GP Esso

Stopover:

1. Yong Peng (Breakfast)

2. Seremban (Petrol refill at 274km)

1210 Simpang Pulai - slow and curvy road to CH. some parts managed to do 80km/h. I know someone who would love these corners.

1400 Brinchang - Petrol refill and checked in Rosa Passadena.

R & R Cactus Valley & Big Red Strawberry Farm

** Didn't know Monday is a Malaysian Holiday. Some VIP's birthday I guess. But lucky because of that, Sunday night got Pasar Malam.

Day 2 (9 Mar):

0745 Had breakfast at Hotel. Bike also kana inspected by curious locals.

0830 Took my bike to Gunung Brinchang. Wah, the way up was very steep and the road surface was damn poor. Somemore only 1 lane to share 2 directions. Nothing much up there but got 1 watch tower to have good view of the mt range and lots of clouds. There actually was a group of boy/girls who drove up and camped over night. So freezing!

The way down was scary. Can't feel my front suspesion. Guess it was compressed most of the time. Always worried that the front would slip or come face to face with a vehicle. Braking all the way... must check my brakes when back in SG. Got some noise liao.

0915 Made a stop at the BOH TEA Plantation. Learnt something about the place and Tea. Had my tea break there with great view.

1030 Visit Bee Farm... nothing much there.

1045 Visit Butterfly Garden - some butterflies, some creatures (birds, snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, etc).

1115 Visit Rose Centre at Kea Farm - many many flowers. Good for phototaking but must exercise your legs cos it's on a small hill. Actually, EVERYWHERE also must climb up and down.

1230 Took a walk at Tana Rata town. Less people (more AngMoh). Had my fullbody massage... by a guy. Alamak. Must wait for Hatyai to get 'proper' fix.

Was raining (every afternoon) so I found myself inside this Internat Cafe typing this away.

Well. Will be leaving tmr and try the corners from Gua Musang to Jeli to Gerik Highway. An addition of 6 hrs I guess. Might reach GP by 8pm I hope.

Oh he sqeezed some in first to clear the residue - maybe that helped to clear the Air Lock, which seems to be the problem i had with the squeezy bottle or maybe the inlet tube or nozzle to tight to allow escape of air as the oil takes its place - must try this method again. Thanks for your feedback scooby. Meanwhile looks like SW9000 had a nice weekend ride !! My hand itchy !!

Posted (edited)

i think so, coz i saw him fill the squeeze bottle quite a bit before inserting its pointed dispenser into the hole fully forming a "seal". the eo "blown" (a few times) into the sealed space displacing the air inside could have cleared the airlock for impurities to be flushed out. i'm glad that lot of impurities are flushed out, setback is we'll need much more than the 330ml to change drive oil :p

Finally home. Took the long way from Gua Musang to Jeli to Gerik to Kuala kangsar to GP. The distance all agaration cos I no have GPS.

0800 Had breakfast

0830 Took a slow ride to Blue Valley (T-junction to Simpang Pulai or Gua Musang). Early morning road was wet and my tires not warmed up enough. Don't dare fast fast go kup corner.

Blue Valley to Gua Musang

1st Part of Corners (abt 20km) - All the way down slope. This section very very the nice! It is steep and lots of large and medium corners. But I very no skill so only did ard 70km/h here.

2nd Part of Corners (abt 70km) - Up and down hills with sweeping medium corners (those that u no need tap brake ones). Averaging 90km/h. Most other riders could easily add another 20km/h bah.

* Remember must go from CH to Gua Musang direction cos it's more fun.

** This I must try again some other times.

Gua Musang to Jeli

1st 50km - This is normal trunk road. Lots of hidden pot holes. I pulled my bike left and right like a scrambler and dirfted a couple of times just to avoild some of them big ones. Furthermore, cars opposite will come to your lane to avoid the holes on their side of the road. Was doing 90km/h but scary.

Next 50km - Better road surface. Very few vehicles. I could maintain 100km/h.

* Boring section of mostly villages.

Jeli to Gerik

Ahh... this part slightly better. The scenery nicer and lots of corners too. Crossed a couple of bridges over the big lake.

Road surface so so only. Some parts actually quite bumpy. Could do 90-100km/h here. Ehh... all the trucks/buses drove around that speed too. Bully me in the corners.

Gerik to Kuala Kangsar/NSHW

What Gerik Highway? Only a nice trunk road with very few cars. But hor, can easily do 110-120km/h here loh. Nothing much to see also.

Summary:

The weather so good never rain at the twisties. Only started from Malacca to GP.

Cameron Highlands got nothing to do much except the cool weather. Think next time I should try stay at Tana Rata cos it's less crowded.

Hope Mae Hong Son got better corners to play than the Gerik's.

Well, next stop... another twisties up Genting!

I thought the manual mentions 0.32 litres for gear oil change? i suppose 10ml more is ok issit? ;)

Not bad. Neber fog up during the trip even in the rain.
