Just did my full service... wah, $600 plus.

Changed:

Belt, rollers & clips.

Coolent 2 bottle Engine Ice (3L with 1 L balance)

Oil and oil filter

Air filter

Variator (both plates) * Surface worn off a bit.

Changed a 2-way switch for hazard and under-carriage lights.

Btw, remember that I've replaced the clutch bell before (at only 20k mileage)? It was due to metal bits scratching the surface.

I realised that the metal bits was from the clutch pad itself.

After some wear and tear, the metal bits within the clutch pads will be visible (just like in the brake pads when you can hear the screeching sound).

Ewwww. Why Honda design stock clutch like that?

And there are no after market clutch for Silverwing!

SW9000's bike is known among us as the near "perfect" bike... if flaw is found, surely will resolve one :thumb:

agree, it shld last longer then after market parts..mine a bit worn off i tink can feel a little uneven, tats all..performance wise i tink wont affect much. *my 2 cents*

2 roads diverged into a wood, and I-I took the road less traveled and that makes all the difference!

I think all SW owners must be made to understand that the CVT drive system is a complete trade off for the normal clutch/gears/sprockets/chain system used on all other motorcycles. Life span of these items can vary depending on usage & quality of service / replacement parts used. In the case of the SW the drive belt & rollers should last between 25 to 30 thousand kms and the 'clutch' or variator about slightly double that mileage. For a 400 or 600 cc long range tourer that is FANTASTIC value for money. Ask any owner of other 400 or 600 m/cycles what kind of life span they get from their clutch/gears/sprockets/chain systems and you will understand what i m getting at.

I would underline quality of service / replacement parts for the SW and there are many who think that any mechanic should be able to handle the work - All i would say is just make sure that they have done this before and go "By the Book". There is no compromise or shortcuts.

The point i m trying to raise here is that sometimes people just dismantle a system to check for wear / damage. Finding nothing they re-assemble the original parts. What is not realised is that the CVT system was not designed for that - If you open and check YOU SHOULD THEN REPLACE ALL THE PARTS whether or not they look or appear worn / damaged.

bro, If I open to change roller every 7000km , then the u-clip and belt also have to change ???

is that what you mean??

I cannot help but disagree..... for aircraft, even if a part is required to be changed after certain hours and upon inspection it is still good, the part is continued to be used but of course kept track of.... in the maintainance log...

I cannot understand the need to replace a part when it is found to be good after visual inspection....unless it is a gasket or a very cheap/minute part.... certainly not a roller...

My 5 cents

there should be a boon siew sticker on the bike. or ask him for the warranty card. if its a boon siew bike, sure got the warranty card.

Thats the Problem - VISUAL - the rollers & belt are designed to take almost all the wear & tear in their RECOMMENDED Life Span (24thousand KM) so why bother trying to save - you may not even be able to measure or see any wear & tear. Its not that expensive !! Better that than a breakdown in the middle of No where. I think you better check with Aircraft Engineers or manufacturers on aircraft maintenance - cause if the part fails the plane will be stuck UP THERE all day waiting for assistance or a Tow Truck.

There should also be a BS (superman pattern diamond sticker on the front fender)....

Beside the sticker that is on the tank...

i didn't have both... no sticker n no warranty card when i receive the bike from Looi's. i gotta verify the status using its serial nos. and collect the warranty card at BS myself :p

I couldn't help but disagree AGAIN.....

RECOMMENDED Life Span does not mean it will not deteriorate/fail earlier than what was specific - hence RECOMMENDED....

And I do not need to check with any Licence Aircraft Engineers... I am qualified professionally to make these statements... about aircrafts....

End of day, do what you want..... it's your own money and your own bike...:thumb:

I stated all thse not to argue but just to share what I know with fellow SWers... many of whom are friends....

From the posting, I think that's what Kris Rider meant... which I disagree
