... better than i try to explain with my powderful singlish

my guess is, the aged batt may be holding the normal voltage and has enough current to crank start the engine. but at moment when current is drawn for cranking, voltage drops so low that it is insufficient to power the electronics. once engine started, power is back up... just guessing.

read that symptom is gone once batt is changed.

maybe it really is time to change battery liow

I changed the battery and it solved the problem the other time already.

i guess its time u change urs too.

:)

I can't remember the aftermarket battery brand recommended by K & T.

Should be about $80 (?) and suitable for SW.

Will give it a try when my batt go crazy.

Maybe your bike is "Fan Jian"

Needs to be whack o_O

There must be something that is causing the uneven wear and tear of your rollers earlier...

Hmm... But I also dunno :sian:

Btw, are our stock rollers 28g or 21g?

Will having a voltmeter indicate to us when our battery might be due for replacement? Like as in what kind of readings will it show when our battery is doing fine or when the battery has been used long enough already? Or when there is sth wrong wif the recharging or magnetic coil? Sorry quite noob in voltmeters, hope someone can explain to me....

stock is 28g.

Voltmeter is good to have, cos when ur bike's coil fry u'll know. Jus like me.. :sian:

So when the voltage suddenly go down/no charge u know something wrong and its time to go bike shop, rather then call a tow truck paying extra cost and time.

Secondly u can monitor ur battery, for example b4 u start ur bike wats the voltage and during ridding wats the level oso. And b4 u start ur bike, if ur battery level at 12V and below, probably time to change battery already.

hope tat answers ur

Its normal.

When u pump the fuel tank till full of cos it will over flow out. There's a valve which allows for excessive fuel to flow out. AND this valve is located outside your tank, of cos.. i used to ride a x8 too. Anyway, our Wing also has a valve to allow draining away of overflow excessive fuel.

Unless after your tank is still leaking after a few hours.. that is something wrong..

Yes u've helped me to understand much beta....Oh so b4 start bike, if it's not more than 12V then prob already..

What abt during riding, what's the voltage like?

$150 is for the 12S or 14S?

did you check its "birthday" (activation day) or activated at purchase?

i'm considering changing to a 14S soon coz the reset everytime i crank start the bike is very irritating to me o_O

the last time i checked (few months ago), they have the one with honda logo but costs around $210; BS quoted something around there but said they need to order, maybe they also take from FJT

est. price list available at post#55 of Silverwing 400cc / 600cc Tech Corner (http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/images/misc/multipage.gif 1 2)

whether the extra is worth paying is up to individual preference... but from what the shop keeper says, they're the same thing :)

It was for YTZ12S.

Wondering if both was from Japan?

Should have ask in this forum earlier.

What abt during riding, what's the voltage like?

for a healthy fully charged battery...

only ignition on: normal to have around 13V

engine started, idling: approx 14.2V

engine started, >3.5kpm or riding: approx 14.5V

voltage will drop when you draw current to power headlights and whatever gadgets you use

read from the Internet that a bike/car battery normally requires at least about 14.1V to charge on the run... thus if voltage is

we should take readings when engine is at normal riding temperature (halfway mark) instead of when engine just started. according to BS, my magneto was ok when "cool" and starts to loose its function when engine becomes "hot". it took them 2 days to diagnose/confirm my magneto is defective before replacing it on guarantee, then another 1/2 day to run tests before releasing bike :pity:

Don't pump too full.

If continue to drip even at half tank then must go check.

Sometimes older bike must go change the fuel hose (from tank to carb) to better quality ones (if haven't done so). Your bike shop can do it.

I tink is everytime when i fully pump my bike juz lidat.... it will not continue leaking after those extra come out.... i juz feel funny and doubt why lidat?.. even got a valve allow for excessive fuel to flow out.. dunno why need this design lor? Mean they not allow fully pump...? Like ytd after fully pump, those excessive fuel leak out, when my front tire kena the fuel on the floor, my bike slip n nearly fall down... sigh....

Anyway thks bro advice here.:cheeky:

anyone using YTZ14S? felt any difference?

i doubt it'll be of any difference, and if u use this our bike charging system might not be able to charge it at optimum level. o_O
