Anyway, i went ah choong again today. Swapped ard e rollers. Mixed half majesty half tmax rollers. Bike felt more "stable". Guess e majesty rollers plus hard clutch springs didnt go well together. added a stiffer transmission spring too. Now, jus thinking if i shld use e bmw grips..

 

imo, the BMW grip is the best grip around

selling my tmax for a new ride..bike should be at speedway by this thursday.

those interested can take a look..11months old with bidded number, mileage around 6600 miles

bike is paid in full but shop will sell on my behalf so easier for those who need loan.

 

its been great learning and exchanging ideas in this thread.

maybe when they built a 750cc version, i maybe back on a tmax again..

anyway, i've just installed the j costa standard version on my tmax.... very significant improvement.

these are the what I had before putting on the new variator:

1. malossi mid hardness clutch spring

2. malossi mid hardness torque spring

3. malossi air filter

4. 50% majesty rollers (lighter)

 

previously, when using all majesty rollers, the drive was too light, and not too nice to ride. by having a 50% mix, the ride was actually getting much better

 

but, with the j costa variator, the low end was boosted alot.

previously with the above mentioned settings, the move off (from still) rpm was around 2.4k rpm. right now, it is ard 3.1k rpm. (stock is 2k rpm). According to other online reviews, if all else is stock, the move off rpm with just the jcosta should be 2.5krpm.

 

so, with a higher move off rpm, there's a very strong surge if I turn the throttle more. I almost believe it could do a wheelie. but anyway, straight from 0kmh to 110kmh, the acceleration is very good, and I could feel the engine tighter and stronger. Very great improvements from my previous setup. When I installed my Polini on my Silverwing previously, I couldn't even feel so much difference.

 

But, something gotta give... once the bike hit 140kmh at 6k rpm... both speedometer and tachno stopped... But I was sure I'm still accelerating.. Apparently it's a common issue with J costa though. Gotta do more research abt it...

 

Damn, now I'm tempted to change to an aftermarket exhaust to improve it further......

the deal was done just this afternoon..

 

there were 2 other potential buyers that intended to make the trip in the evening and i have to sms them not to waste the trip..didnt know that 2nd hand tmax is such a hot item...

I went down on Wednesday evening, even asked Shunhong for any Tmax, but to no avail. Went back there again on Thursday evening, never asked this time round. But didn't notice any Tmax there either.
