A stock Spark135 is able to achieve 125 to 135km/hr. (depending on total laden weight and tire setting)

How old is your ride? What have you mod to your ride so far?

Cheaper option.

If all is stock, you might want to check, start with a full top engine and carburetor servicing. Normally this will cost below S$150, which includes gasket, engine oil, coolant.

Also get the mechanic to adjust your carburetor setting and if possible, a leaner jet. (Kindly research on risk of riding on a leaner fuel mixture)

Read this thread to understand how carburetor setting can affect your ride

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/68265-How-to-do-carb-tuning

Alternatively, a smaller rear sprocket will also assist in achieving higher top speed but it takes a longer time and also depend if you engine has sufficient torque to achieve it.

The above is based purely on achieving a higher top speed but does not include better acceleration.

Everything is stock at the moment. Its an FBA plate.

As for now, i just want to "mod" my brake system. @LimAhWan, any idea how much the rear disc brake conversion across the causeway including a pair of rims?

What else should i do to improve my brake system? Help is appreciated!

Do not get Unique's one please. For rear brakedisc conversion, its gonna cost you about $220 inclusive of rims. Normally we use the 125z rear brake disc setup. Then before that, buy a Hel brake hose (about $70) in SG & ask them to fix at the same time so don't need double job. Then you're good to go. For front brakes also same. Hel hose + oversized racingboy brakedisc. ($55-$90 depending on choice of size, material & design of the disc)

Alot of the above is purely a con job. What you need in such a servicing package is only those highlighted. Giving your bike is an FBA plate, the radiator flush would be something to consider as well.

I personally do not like the idea of servicing my carb as the carburettor serves two purposes; one is to manage the mixture of fuel that goes into the engine, the other is to separate water from the fuel. If you setting is right, the only reason for such "servicing" is to drain excess water out from the carb which users are able to via the drain screw at the sediment bowl which is usually found at the bottom of the carburettor.

Rest of the above are things they throw in to make the list look long hence user feels that the amount they pay are worth it. (I.E. all the items which are "check")

Top Servicing:

What I refer to as Top Servicing will be as below (Plucked from HL Cycle)

(Svc Carb, Cam Cover O-Ring, Water Pump O-Ring, Valve Seal, Spark Plug, Oil Filter (OEM), Engine Oil, Block & Head Gasket) - $100

Purpose of doing a Top Servicing is to clear accumulated carbon through usage. (I had assume you ride is currently stock and the performance has deteriorated compared to a new ride, hence I recommend doing a top servicing)

Please note that when going to such servicing, the mechanic will usually ask you to change parts such as Rocker Shaft, Piston Pin and etc. Please use your own judgement on severity of wear before deciding if you really need to change it.

With regards to enquiry on brake system:

Remember when you took your motorcycle licence and the instructor told you the 70-30% rule when doing the emergency brake? For me, I would use the same equation when it comes to importance of my personal brake system. I would only advise on the front as the rear is replied by Spanker LimAhWan

- Oversized Disc (Usually in JB, you can get them in a set together with Racing Boy rims)

- HH or Better Brake Pads (Braking, EBC)

- Steel Braided Hose (Hel, Venhill, Swage, etc. Please avoid unknown or non reputable brands)

- Better Grading Brake Fluid (Motul RBF600, etc.)

- Bigger Piston sized master pump

On other note:

With an enhanced braking system, you might need to consider rebuilding your front fork with a slightly heavier fork oil. Also do note that with a heavy load and hard braking on such a small bike, it could be rather stressful to the front fork oil seal which in turn might cause it to leak.

Readers are advised to read the above in discretion and all suggestion or comments above are purely a personal opinion.

Cheers

Stock battery is: Yuasa YB5L-B (12V 5Ah)

Anything that is 12V and 5Ah would be suitable but Yuasa is a very reputable brand itself.

If you want to remove some weight from the battery, you might want to take a look at racing batteries. http://racingbatteries.co.uk/

If you wallet is fat enough, 150pound/300SGD for a battery.

My fellow spark riders..nid ur sincere opinion.. 2nd hand spark $3000evrything exclude insurance, plate FBA..>>>is it expensive??

Accessories?

Posted
its all stock bro.. shud i buy??

For a stock 05/06 bike which is already about 6/7 yrs old, i find it abit expensive. Thats my opinion though. :)

Posted
Bro.. FBA is not yr 07 is it??

Probably late '05 to early '07? Coz my friend's X1 is FBA plate, registered Nov 2005. So im just giving it a rough estimation. $3000 i think can get at least FBC plate. Look around at the Used Bikes section & survey the price.
