No offence ah but they won't usually stop u for a non-approved helmet unless u're wearing an obviously unapproved helmet, like those half cut helmet. Coz some DOT/Snell approved helmet also not psb approved. They won't disturb this kind of helmet. I dun think they stupid enough to fine a DOT approved helmet also ah. If u think about it, u're jeopardizing ur own safety to look good. If accident, worth it? I think very worth it ah.

It's funny if they fine a $300 plus FF well-known brand helmet due to the absence of the PSB sticker while letting go a $30 HF cheapo brand as being much more safer due to the possession of the blue sticker behind.

It is unfortunate that although the law is there to protect the minority who may not understand DOT/Snell, it also affects those who also understand helmet safety.

The costs simply passed on to the retailer (testing at PSB) and also the the retailer risks a charge if he is determined to be selling a non-PSB helmet to a consumer for use in local roads.

Is it ok to use Shark helmets? It's approved under SHARP (safety helmet assessment and rating programme) but no Singapore PSB. Another question would be is there anyway to get it PSB certified if it isn't allowed in Singapore?

strictly in terms of the law, no on both counts.

legal-wise, only PSB sticker full stop. sending it for testing yourself, you can't because it undergoes destructive batch testing; meaning the importer or shop sends a batch of the helmets to PSB/TUV who will randomly select a few samples from the batch, and then performs the test. and the test destroys the helmets being tested. by this process you therefore cannot simply send your helmet in yourself for PSB/TUV testing and certification.

but like some bros mentioned, they are unlikely to book you for an established full face brand like shark, unless you somehow modified it or you bought one that comes with a metal clip strap rather than d-ring. but of course you still do so at your own risk.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Thx dude, I read forums saying Singapore will nt allow retailers to sell helmets tat are nt approved. However I bought mine from motorworld at kaki bukit @.@ and yes it's a rapid clip strap rather than the double D ring strap. So should I just change the strap? I dun wish to just put it home =(

Anywhere that does such modifications for the strap?
