Rattling sound? came from the Windshied?

Not Suppose to , but with the Wind shield up, there is minimal wind noise now, and u can probably hear your Engine clearly.

Ratting sound as in metallic type?? Or u mean buzzing sounds??

I believe i noe wat u are saying... I've experinced it n it really irritated me after installing the higher windscreen.

The sound happens bec the screen doesnt fit as nicely as it should, the sounds u hear is prob the plastic of the windscreen rubbing against the fairing and it really resonates at ard 3.5k rpm with an audiable buzzing sound.

One way to remove that sound is to add 2 thin rubber washers at the highest 2 screws. It effectively removed that buzzins sound and made the ride even more quiet.

hope this helps, cheers...

Yo! Guys Saw another divvy while I was at B/848 Yishun having supper last night. Riden by a middle-aged Indian guy. According to him, he knows OMD .... cos he's also living at Sembawang area. Further informed by him that there's another full-fairing divvy rider living at B/108 Yishun. Maybe it's time we can add in these 2 into our list ... hoho ... the list is growing .... :bouncefire: :bouncefire: :bouncefire:

I told him about this forum ... hopefully we'll see him soon inside here ...

Hiya,

Yes, I know the guy you are talking about, in fact I have his contact number too. Will keep him posted on the next meet ups.

Btw, where did you get your Skidmarx screen and how much did it cost you? Also, do you have to drastically modify or adjust the mirrors after installing the screen?

Hey YOU GUYS, I am interested in the high screen Skiddmarx how much it cost & where to get it. I did check with Chap Lee (givi) theirs cost about $180 and need to order, deposit some amount and wait for the shipment atleast 3mth. I ever check with motorworld theirs is MRA germany made is about $130 as usual order & and wait for shipment. I hate to wait for shipment....!

SoOoO far any modification have you all done, need to know any interesting things add up or customized.

What petrol 're you most using 95 or 98, I have some information that most of the car or bikes (even the Ferrari) are test on average octane fuel 95, so they(the manufacturer or so call makers) base on the average fuel not every part of the world you can get 98...even some part of ulu ulu malaysia...worst still unleaded.

How about Air-filters, any body using K&N, my advise try not to, infact you don't save money if you going wash and recharge it (recharging kit cost about 40+ small bottles) and after sometime the filter degrade (after some washing).. stick to the original filters (experience help with my decisions)

Hiya...yups yups that's the kindda of sound I'm hearing on and off now ... thanks for the advice. Any idea where I can get the screws?

BikeTech 21 recommended me to purchase alloy screws for the windscreen. But it's damn ex! S$36 for 8 normal looking screws which are avail in 3 colours - Gold / Silver / Black. Anyone using it?

Yo! I got the windscreen for S$140. Placed the order bout 5 weeks ago.

BikeTech further recommended me to purchase the front mud guard rear-ext, which I did place the order. Now waiting for it to come in. Cost S$55.

Should be quite worth it cos it'll greatly prevent your 4-exhaust pipes from getting all dirty ya.

As for the mirrors, I've temporary adjusted them so that I can at least handle-lock the bike. But for long-term solution, Jleo suggested that a trip down to Seng Kwang will be good. They can cut and re-size your mirrors for ya.

The general feedback that I get from friends after installing the extended windscreen is that it looks really much nicer. No regrets till now.Every divvy should have one .... hooray! :bouncefire:

Yo! Can try asking BikeTech 21 located along Dunlop street, directly opposite Sim Lim Tower. But they'll need to import the windscreen also, so gotta wait a while .... I just bought mine for S$140 inclusive of shipping,GST everything.

Been all along using Octane 95 .... save $$ ... dun need pump so good one ... only once in a while put some fuel addictives into the petrol tank to clear things up. So far so good .... engine still good ...

BikeTech 21 recommended me to purchase alloy screws for the windscreen. But it's damn ex! S$36 for 8 normal looking screws which are avail in 3 colours - Gold / Silver / Black. Anyone using it?

I did not buy any special screws. I bought a pair of rubber washers at a local hardware shop for $0.60, carefully halved cos it was too thick. After that install onto the top 2 screws as a added washer between the rubber thingy n the screen.

The rubber washer gives ard a 5mm allowance between screen fairing n hence elimates the buzzing sound.

With regards to the metal screws, I am still using the original plastic screws, to be exact my 2nd set of plastic screws. If it were up to me i'd recommand those using the high flipups esp to do so as well. My logic is simple though the flimsy plastic screw costs $2.05 each as compared to $2 for 6 annodized metal ones.

In the event if something forceful were to impact on the windscreen, given the way the screen is secured, it acts as a fulcrum exerting alot of upward force on the screws.

Imagine if it was using the metal screws, it would surely be enuf to to hold the screen down BUT considering that the force is really great, the plastic screen costing $150 4 mine would cracked/break instead. HOwever if it was using the plastic screws, the breakin of the head of the screws would have sufficed in the absorbtion of the impact. Though this is not proven with an impact test, i believe u guys noe what i'm getting at.

Dont worry about the plastic screws holding up in high speeds. Mine can take up to 200km/h n still as secure.

I did this logical comparison and it was clear which i should use. My choice was vindicated when a similar event really did occur, hence my 2nd set of 6 plastic screws. However i do keep 3 pairs of metal ones under my seat if it really does crack as a temp measure. But still i'll replace it with the plastic one as soon as i can.

My 2 cents n 20 min typing worth of words.

Cheers.

One way to adjust the mirror is to loosen the Handlebar first, then tilt the handle bar a little towards u. After that u should have more free play to adjust the mirror.

Hi Folks,

I have got to see the actual screens on the bikes. So much talk about the mirrors having to be modified and all.

CasperXXX,

I also got my fender extender from Biketech21. Cannot remember the brand, but it was from the UK.

Silverghost,

I only have the fender extender installed and a frame slider by Motovation. Also a Givi Maxia E52 with customised brackets from SK. As for petrol, I use 95 octane ones. Lastly, aren't you suppose to be in Sembawang??? Why are you listed as someone from Woodlands???

Hey I am from Sembawang and still staying THERRrrrr..

Talk about the windscreen screws it actually made of hard plastic for any unforseens. The screw heads give away like a pilot you eject thru the screen (my imagination). This is the manufactures idea so you save the screen only.....most of the sports bike or other manufacturers did the same. Mine I change them into alan-key stainless screws.

So far I did not install any IU (atm) not drawing but paying machine, yet. How about you guys I have nothing much to do in the ERP zone during those hours. Still I find it quite UGLY piece sticking into your face.

Tyres so far any body have changed, brands types... like to recomend...!

thru the mails I read some one says about oil cooler, most almost every vehicle and bikes have oil cooler which is hiden behind the radiators, air cool bike need the oil cooler its an advantage the engine maintain at certain level of temperature. Those old bikes without the oil cooler the engine block give way sooner or later.

what do you thing of the jacket I wear.. Gasper I bought it for $140 at Chong ek Desker Rd its worth it is not hot and comes with a rain coat (pull over) the jacket. We must protect ourself more then the bike I find that people spend more money on the bike then on themself for example those riders ride hypersports or sport bike they spend sooo much money on the bike and they wear the cheapest helmet(nova)$35 on their head. What you guys think... any idea are we on the same bandwagon...or not. :thumb:

Hiya,

Due to the fact that I have to commute about 60km a day across Singapore, the IU unit has to be installed on my bike. The only saving grace is, I had the brackets done nicely at SK.

As for tyres, the stock tyres do not give much confidence in wet conditions. Read that many Diversions (overseas ones) change to the Bridgstone Battlax BT020. There is allowance for us to even increase the tyre size to 160 (currently 150).

Many are not aware of the importance of oil coolers, in fact I have seen some people's oil coolers being blocked by aftermarket horns!!!.

The jacket that you are wearing is really cool looking, unfortunately, they have ran out of stock for the item. Was told that the next shipment would be coming not so soon, so, I have left my contact details with them (Chong Aik).

Many riders do not see the importance of PPE (personal protection equipment) when riding motorcycle. Jackets, for example, are too warm, as many will say. My argument is, I'd rather be warm than to have to grow new skin!!! I have even been up North riding with some people who merely used a sleeveless jacket, and mind you, they are riding big bore super bikes. These are people who got all their priorities wrong.

On a personal note, I strongly believe in safety when riding. Invest in good quality (not necessarily expensive) PPE. Use them and not keep them for the occasional "big" rides. If it is too warm when riding with a jacket, you can always zip it down a little or loosen the cuffs to allows air circulation.

OMD

Well I have changed my tyres to Pirelli Dragon..cos the original ones are too slippery esp during rainy days...skidded on a downslope spiral c/pk...made me realise this kindda of $$ cannot save...safety more important...changed the tyres at a shop near SK...$340 inclusive of balancing..rear fitted with a 160 instead of the original 150..so far so good...saw a old pair of tyres there at the shop...still looks good even though used for 20,000 km...no warping etc...

The jacket is nice!Esp the reflectors at the back...made us more visible...$140 @ Chong Aik right? Will go down one of these days to have a closer look. What the brand har?

Hehe... Is it evident that i was fresh from typing an 60 page thesis consisting of laser propogation into a fiber optics... Hmm...

Anyway on OMD's note earlier, i guess i'm one of those who pay little regards to safety gear. My fav attire consists of berms, t shirt n sandals, the way i'd like to ride in sg. I usually put on this (white) windbreaker when sun gets too scorching or weather turns cold. Have a leather jacket from my past affilitation with cruisers. My heavy n thick jackets are ususlly reserved only for trips crossing the border.

BTW OMD, can u tell me the brand n model of the jacket u placed an order for? Perhaps we order together n get more discounts.

Cheers.

Count me in! The jacket looks nice even for travelling within spore. Like the reflectors at the back of the jacket esp .... presume it's the same as what SilverHawk bought right? Yeah man! Mass order maybe can get cheaper .... :cheer:

Hiya all,

Jleo,

The jacket is by GPR, but there is another brand, IZ2 or something like that, which is fairly similar (but not exactly the same). Price wise, I was qouted $140. Please be warned that the jacket more for track use and not for touring (although no one's going to stop you). Why I say this, upon trying out the jacket, I found it to be of the short type and not the standard "safari suit" styling of touring jackets. As more the mass order, we could arrange such that since there is the demand, Chong Aik will be more willing to bring more of the stuff quickly. Let's see how the people here respond and then we can take it from there.

As for the safety bit, I do not mean to offend anyone, it was my personal opinion. I am very particular about safety, because it is everyone's responsiblity and it affects everybody, especially, when one is travelling in a group. I hope you do not take offence by my previous statement.

What you guys think... any idea are we on the same bandwagon...or not. :thumb:

Hey , think u got the same jacket that I've Got. It's GPR with Cool Rider label at the back right?

Comes with a Rain coat..

Thus far I've 3 jacket which I wore....

1. Leather Jacket - bought 15 yrs ago and still going strong, but does not have the Foam padding of today's technology.

2. Komine ...Wire Mesh....cool and suitable for daily wear. The inner lining is better than GPR

3. GPR.. cool looking...but inner lining feels abit rough..esp on teh arms side...

Yes you got it, GPR jackets not bad for Singapore RD and jams they (chong Aik) have few cuttings and design so far I took that design is more of a quality for what I paid for full Cordura heavy duty jacket and at the back 3m reflectors. Some designs are not made for touring ... as what OMD says off road beary colourful, they have about 5 colours, red, blue, silver, black and i think is ????? but it is up to the rider himself or herself.

I thing, Palary have some jackets as he mention....

Some things to talk ..what do you, people think of putting a pair of spot light at or over the engine guard (not crash bar I don't like the sound of crash bar) as ... I hope it might help to redirect or deflect rains...so far anybody OUT THERE.?...Xxxclude D TP. only use during bad weather or touring...I saw at chong aik $70 a set nice stainless steel lamps..

Gasper as you say you replaced the tyres 20000klick so soon. Right safety come FiRsT , yes I realise during wet season its quite slippery ESPECIALLY the arrows and broken lines try to avoid those things when over taking crossing over to next lane or cornering and brakings regardless the type of tyres you bike wear.

I like bridgestone battalax 020 tyres for sport touring, grip is good on wet and dry.. I ever use it before on ST11, I just waiting for the Dunlops to wear out...

You all know that the XJ900/s has ceased its production last year Dec 2003...
