Hi OMD welcome back to S'pore,

You were asking abt the relationship between the mirrors and screen, as Caspy says that he need to cut the mirrors as he have problem in locking the handle....??

After I fix the Super flip Super high screen (feedback abit disoriented looking thru) not use to the hight of the screen BUT THEY ARE WONDERFUL as I say..

When I bought the bike the first day itself, I already adjusted the handle towards me and that position... it is much more comfortable to hold and relax the arm...

When I fixed the screen I have no problem or whatsoever with the (handle knocking) to the screen....

Casper some minor adjusment to the handle No Need to cut the mirrors...the mirrors a wonderfull you can look, all the way back..even thou it is ugly!!!!

I try some mirrors few months back, they are not advisable their view angle is small... stick to the original .....:thumb:

Hi SiLvErGhOsT,

About the mirror, personally I think you have not select the right one. Some of the member had seem my mirror, they are tinted so to reduce the glaze light at night and they are bigger in size so that most of the "missing" area are covered. The size of my mirror is about the same as S4. OMD should be able to tell you in more detail.

After install the mirror, I find it more safe.

Palary,

Try using the Stebel electric horns. They are supposedly better than Hella or Fiam. I am referring to the snail type of horn (red and black ones) which comes in a pair. I am currently using a pair of Hella horns (not the snail type), they are loud enough but not the kind of sound you get from those continental cars.

SilverGhost,

How does the new screen fit in relation to your mirrors?

To all,

Just got back from trip up North. Pushed the bike to see how far it can go. Here are the facts :-

1) Average cruising speed was 140km/h on NSH. Max speed hit was 200km/h. Trunk roads was done at about 80-100km/h.

2) Got about 14km/l on the fuel consumption due to high RPM operation.

3) With the addition of a top box, it greatly affects the stability of the bike at high speeds (prone to shifting when there is crosswind).

4) Overall, the bike performed as promised by Yamaha. It is a great touring bike with all the creature comforts needed to cover extensive miles. A note though, the seats do get a little uncomfortable after about 1½ hours or riding.

Hope that helps.

From,

OMD

For me @ 130-140km cruising with the flipup and wide panniers can acheive around 15-16km/l with the ocassional blast. It really drops badly to under 13km/l if u consistantly push it over 100mph. Tried once on a Kulai trip back with a pillion n was suprised how much it drank when pushed hard.

I did go up north once with a stock bike(no box + original screen) and indeed it gave much better stability n smoother comparatively even up to 210km/h. When fully equipped, ride was more un-nerving when the cross winds were blowing hard. Even 110km/h on the 2nd link bridge caused lane wide wobbles when it 1st caught me unaware.

Overall in comparison to the bunch i'd always travel with, though it doesnt perform as crisp as an R1 or a fazer, but being able to reach the rest points fresh makes up for the lack of speed as a quick refuel is all i'd need.

I'd like to organise a trip up Genting in mid may after my final presentation, any takers here???

Thanks for the advice..but too late cos I already cut the mirrors at SK last sat..at a cost of $18...haha...yups its true..stick to the orginals cos other mirrors only give u a very much smaller viewing angle...

OMD - Wow! Didnt know our bikes can hit 200km/h...impressive!But no chance to try on spore road...license too dear to be caught...most was 140 i went on spore road but then a bit scared kena all those speed traps...esp when now TP seems to be very active in speed-catching...guys take care...simply not worth it getting caught in spore...

I can make it on early Jun when I'm back in sg.

Suggest we target at KL,

1 group up genting, the other at KL jalan jalan.

End of day, meet up and ride back together.

How?

Dont worry la, steep but not like ur bike wont have the torque to go against it.

The bends are nowhere as scary as in Fraser as the roads are wide n the cars in the opp lane cant eat into ur path. There is only 1 very steep part at the entrance of the temple there. Simply if a phantom can make it, def can urs. Jus give ways to the taxis n u'll be fine.

It would be an experience as u meander up with the roads to ard 2000m above sea level.

BTW Custom, i'll be going thailand in June so gimme a date to see if i can make the necessary arrangenments. I'm fine with a tour in KL as well, i'd prefer not to split the group up as inconvienent when meeting up later.

Custom,

You're not alone............. I find that the flip-up screens kinda "kills" the sporty look of the Diversion. At the present moment, I can live with the stock screen. Anyway, I always ride with earplugs, so the noise don't really bother me. Been using earplugs for years when riding, even for short rides to the corner shop!!!

As for the Genting trip, I will try my best to go. Since it is done in June, I might face difficulty with applying for leave due to the school holidays. I am looking at doing day trips soon to maybe, Desaru or Pengerang. Any takers?

Hi OMD,

I went down to see your Bike, you add slidders like abit odd, normally I use to see slidders on faring bikes..you should get the super flip screen...Why? because of the monokey box which (I) find it doen't balance from the side view. When you add the

higher screen it is like a balance...I find that front end is slightly higher then the back look more nicer, I hope you know what I am talking about...Now my bike looks odd abit because there is no top box...

If you use the stock screen it would be nice with the side panniers only...I saw the engine guard at biketech21 dunlop st, in black colour $190 was quoted by them...

Your monokey bracket did you do it at SK..? they spray or you spray it black.. how much is it...that design look nicer comphere to other design by SK...for div

Day trip to Pengerang,Desaru,Genting when are you going, tell me in advance because need to apply leave at least 1wk in advance.......o_O

Do you polish your bike..try Auri gold polish liquid form normally I used to buy from TV media..for now I am getting it from Mustaffa...

Custom was telling about glaze mirrors how was it..I have no idea.. are they good and how much is it $$???

Hiya SilverGhost,

Well, well.........someone's been spying on me bike, eh?

Ok, about the top box bracket, do not bother with the ones from GIVI, coz they look really weird. Get SK to do it for you, they have done for many Diversions. Mine was powder coated black at additional charge, spraying doesn't last. All in with the top box (Maxia 52L), it cost me about $500.

As for the sliders, I thought it would be a little discreet as compared to engine guards. Mine was custom made by Motovation (they also custom machined my heavier bar ends).

As for the day trip, I'll keep you posted on the dates.

Hiya Silverghost,

Sorry for not replying to your earlier SMS, as mentioned, I am on night shift this week, therefore, I sleep all day long.

As for MSC, Harry, the boss is open to negotiations, especially if you have a bike to trade in. He might not lower the price of the Diversion, but he will take in your friend's Shadow 750 at a higher price. In the end, it is still the same. One thing though, the Diversion there is not fitted with the panniers, insist on having it at no extra cost.

Any meetups or rides coming up, people???

I just went down to MSC to have a look at the divvy there..FW4185..if I remember correctly..spoke to a chinese guy there..die die want 14k,with only 2nd party insurance for the bike cos he said he took in the bike at 13k..previous owner is a 50+ year old man..no accessories on the bike..mileage bout 11k+ (in miles)...side pannier the shop kept upstairs..

Initially MSC dun wanna put in a rear box..after some negotiations..agreed to add a new givi box with normal monokey rack...after further negotiations..finally agreed to change it to SK ones for the rear rack..price stil v steep..imagine no engine guards etc..if u buy the bike at 14k need to add

(A) $240 for guards from SK / $320 for larger ones (palary models)

(B) $140 for extended windshield

(i) Given only 2nd party insurance

(ii) have your current bike taken in quite cheaply.

overall think not very worth it..heard some bike shops still have 1st hand ones and they cost only 16k OTR!

Bring in 13K, +2nd ins @560,= 13,560.

Somemore add SK + Givi box @appox 280,

total cost = 13,840.

Plus shop overhead, $0

May be u try to go to other shop n kaka trade-in ur bike you c how.

The way I look @ it, the shop easily "eat" the bike at about 11k.
