We r such a small number unlike S4 where they hv a huge group.

As long as group is under 15, it is easier to control.

Hi guys,

Today I went down to Looi's motor replace air filter $50/...change front fork oil to 20w PJI fork oil $18/..4 spark plugs each $10/ x 4.....those with smaller tips..(for high speed)...

After replace the fork oil the bike is more in control and handles much, much better no more see-saw effects (which is normal on S/tourers) when apply brake...I hope you guys do this...highly recommended ...

To OMD, how are we going to meet up for a cup of tea maybe say 0515hrs before the trip, how about the 24hrs coffee shop in front of our blocks...so how Haroze can he join us...??

I know that Casper can't make it...without his home ministers approval... till then counting down 4 days to go.. o_O

For the air filter, hope that it is K&N.

Our divy have a bad throat so abt 6000miles, stock filter have to air sprayed.

It depend on air condition so +/-.

What spark plugs u hv change?

Life time warrenty?

Hi custom,

Actually my bike meter hit 16,000km so 10,000miles it is time to replace the air filter..Air filter I prefered OEM it is better then K&N.., I'll try to maintain this bike abit longer...I think K&N can't save much as the holes in them are slightly bigger then the OEM...and you need to wash and charge the filter...I ever used on ST before so I know the trouble that I need to go through...FYI, the recharger is poisonous...red colour oil.

Normal spark plugs cost about $5 a piece...the Spark plug today I change is NGK...$10 a piece..maybe can last longer, every oil change take the spark plugs out wire brush them and use again...o_O

I thinking...! of putting sports bike mirrors on the cowling... can go to SK ask to weld in a reforcement brackets under the fairing so the mirror can bolt in them...thru the cowling o_O

SilverGhost,

I will be having my breakfast at home before leaving. Need to do "business" also. I can meet you at the coffeeshop at 0600hrs before we move off.

As for the forks, I would suggest switching to Progressive Springs and a heavy fork oil. The springs are already weak to start with, and you can only do so much with a thicker/heavier oil. The Progressive Springs cost about $100 plus only, if I am not mistaken.

Tried liao. Get FZ mirror at abt $140 from HL, when to SK to ask for welding, but was rejected by them as they do not the experiance n they r afraid.

If don like FZ mirror, blackbird or buaya also can as they can be fold inwards n w signal light somemore.

For me, I'm happy w the mirror as per now.

As for spak plug, I was thinking of changing to Ir type which can last 100,000miles according to mfger. 1 pcs is abt $15-18.

yes you are correct! from my experience...changing fork oil is more than enough... well thats what i did. I think by changing the springs dont really need to increase to heavier oil. however changing either of them will definately improve the handling to a huge difference.... really good...! corner until seow! :giddy:

Hi guys,

After changing the oil there is alot of improvement as what euro says cornering with more confidents and braking and handeling too..but the spring I think later until the oil seal giveway...but not now!

OMD....If I change the spring then I must use light and medium 15w fork oil...too hard is no good we are only S/tourers not a sport bike...

Those of you who have not change, please change the fork oil to 20w PJ1..:thumb::thumb: :thumb: :thumb: four thumbs

Hi Custom,

Please check with the manufacturer that it is suitable for our bikes, as my friend experience the Iridium spark plug on his ST was burn out after a trip from thailand...lucky he carried his old plugs along..o_O

I just fixed a digital volt meter the good part it is wonderful, the bad part it is not water proof..:faint::faint: :faint:

SilverGhost,

That would be a good arrangement. Anyway, my friend will be meeting us at the said coffeeshop too. We can all have a hearty meal at one of the stops later on. What say you...........................

As for the fork oil, I know of people who use regular engine oil as fork oil. They claim that it is a lot better than dedicated fork oil, which is quite thin. Well, to each it's own.

OMD,

I have no problem your friend will be there, is it the ZX11?...at the said coffee shop. OK! ask him to park along the road...

As for Fork Oil stick to 'FORK OIL' they are formulated to prevent foaming. The front suspension is air tight and always under pressurized condition...the action inside the fork is like you squeezing the oil thru a orifice(valve) when the bike hits a hump and the same oil is push back or pull back by the pressured return spring... thru the same orifice(valve) heat is also builts by friction of oil, kinectic action involved...where the suspension returns..so must understand this.. ( the valve(orifice) act as the tap"those adjustable type suspensions" how slow or fast the oil move )controlling the damping...

It is something like the water jet spray... bubbles occurs near the orifice when water is release from a high pressure to a lower pressure condtion...for oil foaming will occur...

Those people using those regular engine oil they are going to face some of this problems...as for the engine oil, it will foam up quickily...then the suspension becomes spongy during the long rides..oil seals giveway much much earlier the foam builts up and push thru the seals..!! better check some shops do this so you will come back sooner...!

There are heavier fork oils (higher watts) and the amount of oil is to be used, measured accordingly on both sides otherwise it will effect the rides...o_O
