As for the Cameron Highlands if you can proposed the dates it would be better.

There are buggers like me in the group who need to apply leaves in an advance too!!

Most of my colleagues book towards the year end and especially during school holidays... if I can get leave it would be wonderful :lovestruck: but need the dates!!!!

Thanks SGhost for the support...

Ok, for the dates, let me tentatively set it on either

A) 121004 to 141004 or

B) the next fortnight after that on 261004 to 281004.

The route up is the NSH all the way from GP to Tampah before turning up to Cameron.

Route back would take us to either to

1) Gua Musang via the new road down(like the Karak Highway) and from there take the trunk road back to KL n eventually sg ( SB = 3.5/5)

2)Route down from Tanah Rata to KL n eventually sg.(SB = 3/5)

If we reach there still fresh n early, we might even pop down to Cherating to stay over. In that case we'll take Route 3 back.

Which one i'll take eventually depends on the group as the 'seasoned buttocks'(SB) ratings for both is different. Also it depends on the situation then. I love it when everything's flexible.

It must be added that it is not as tiring as we'll stay over a night to recuperate. So whoever is interested do add ur name in. Also indicate the choice of date (A/B). I hope the choice of 2 dates allows more flexibility n hence a good turnout.

Till then, Cheers!!

P.S. Jus for reference, i use Hatyai as a hypothetical reference(as i've not been there b4) as SB = 5/5 with 4 petrol topups in under 10hrs. So judge urself how its like to u wif reference to mine..

Hey Casper dude,

What I know always after a brake pads change (especially the front) I open up the brake reservoir cap clean under the brake reservoir cap realign the (top rubber seal) then put back and tighten it thats all...

A check with the european buggers they do not have this problem...their bike technician always remove the brake reservoir cap before changing the disc brake pads...! and they use proper tools.!

I know what happen  ..!

a) When our lazy mech's want to remove the disc pads they push or (leverage between the disc(rotor) and the pads) the brake pads push back with a screw driver -did you notice that....those are Lazy buggers(shortcut)..mannn!

b)This re-action pushes the brake fluid back to the reservoir which over flow or collects on the top of the rubber seal!!!

c) Those brake fluid collected over the rubber seal is what comes off through the breather hole of the brake reservoir cap, while you are riding!!

Hello Casper, think we spoke abt this topic some time ago in this thread...

For your case, i believe it is true for what SG has said. Open up your reservoir to clean, dry and reshape the rubber diaphragm (seal).

There is also another case for those who did not change brakepads.

Here is my guess:

>When brakepads get thinner, liquid level lowers in the reservoir, cause the rubber seal to collapse down (vacuum) and pulling the rubber inwards to reveal small gaps at the reservoir edges. Some liquid flows out when your handlebars shake.

It is not a defect, as this is a basic reservoir design. Cleaning and checking some stuff of our bike is our duty for a safe ride. Maintainance.

:offtopic:

Just a thot for you buggers!

Hey SG and Euro dudes, thanks for the advice. I think that's really the case cos i noticed the leak few days after i change my front tyre at 500. His assistant changed it for me instead of the owner himself. After the front tyre change, i did feel some difference in my front brakes, seems to be more reactive and strong even though i did not change my brake pads.Dunno what they did sia!

Is it possible that the leak comes from the bottom of the brake pump? cos when i use a piece of tissue to clean that part, the tissue became black but nt sure if its due to normal dust n dirt or something else. Now i'm using a rubber band with a piece of tissue to secure the bottom part, just in case.

For preventing leaks from the top, my wife gave me an idea. She bought a 'hair rubber band' from those women shop at S$0.50 and asked me to place it on the top portion of the front brake reservoir. If what both of u said is correct, that will mean the 'hair rubber band' if sufficient, no need to use tissue at the bottom anymore right? :giddy:

Just read thru the Service and Repair Manual section 6.11 on brake system bleeding.

Any buggers here tried it b4? Seems that it can help to remove all tiny air bubbles in the brake fluid reservoirs, hoses and brake calipers.

Simple process.

1. Fill up the reservior with brake fluid (u can get from me as I've left over)

2. use spanner to open ur front brake nipple till air bubble appear.

3. Pull back your brake lever once. U should c fluid n air bubble cm out from the nipple.

4. Repeat till only fluid cm out.

5. Tighten e nipple.

6. Repeat step 2 to step 5 on e other side. Remember to fill up your brake fluid.

7. If still feel very "soft", repeat the process again.

8. Wash with a lots of water after e job is done to ensure tat all bk fluid is remove. Very very important.

PS: if ur brake pad had worn out, u will face this problem.

Solve the root cause is e better way out. :thumb:

Hi Casper,

what custom saying is okay but akind? of...I'm not sure whether you understand or not...I put in my way I have done this on vehicles and my old bikes before...

Brake fluid after some time gets soft...it absorbs moisture through the rubber(brake) hose...so you'll know when it is time to change.

1) discolouration (yellowish in colour almost light brown)time to change.

2) spongy (spongy feeling )

3) feel like brake jammed for a long period of time! fluid contaminated near caliper.

4) 2yrs plus to 3yrs, time to flush the system.

5) partially due to, too many heavy braking heat transfer to the calipers, to fluid.

6) do not mix old DOT3 with new DOT4 brake fluid, flush out the old brake fluid from the brake system and replace it with DOT4 latest which can with-stand higher boiling point.

Now how to bleed the brake line system:smile:

What do you need!

1) If there are 2 person makes life easier!!!

2) Ring spanner-8mm, phillips screw driver + those transparent hose about 30cm (normally use for fish tank pump) and an empty bottle, 1 or 2litre bottle of water to wash off any spills. few rags and a bottle of brake fluid DOT4...

1) First put bike on main stand... Remove the brake reservoir cover/cap (put rags around the handle, cowlings we don't want any unneccessary brake fluid spilling on the paint works) right!

2) Use the ring spanner-8mm loosen the bleeder at the brake caliper (looks like a nipple) to a point where the next turn, the brake fluid would leak out..hold the spanner there. in a ready position. say "A"

2a) Lets say position "A" to position "B"..."A" is the ready position if you turn the spanner towards "B" the brake fluid will flow out!!!(from left to right or anti-clockwise)

2b) Fix the transparent hose into the nipple and exit the hose into the empty bottle.(enviroment freindly)

3) Ask your assistance to pump the brakes 2 to 3 or 4 times depends, sometimes lesser and hold it there firmly do not let it go!!! o_O

3a) You slowly release(turn) the bleeder/nipple from "A" to "B" you can see brake fluid rushing out from the nipple/bleeder, once you complete shut it (return back to the holding/ready position "A" again.

4) Ask your assistance to pump again! follow the process till you see the clean/new brake fluid comes out...(once complete to that nipple tightened it..)

5) Always top up the brake fluid in the reservoir, Don't let the brake fluid drops below the low marker in the reservoir during flushing we don't want any air/bubbles to suck in...during the process!!!

(warning) do not let the brake fluid reservoir to go empty/dry ..."If" happens... must start the process all over again s'ian leh.

6) Must Do to all the nipples (you know what!, I am saying he,he,he...)

7) Make sure you have tightened anything that you have loosen before, wash clean and "dry" the rubber seal and reservoir cap, top up brake fluid to a suitable level just below the max level marking you are able to see the level through the side viewing window of the brake fluid reservoir.

If you have any doubt call me or sms...

Hiya SG dude, my problem seem to be resolved after changing the front brake pads and asking the mechanic to pump out excessive brake fluid from the front reservoir. With the further protection of the 'hair rubber band' think it should be fine to absorb any leaks again in future. But no harm knowing how to bleed the brake fluids. I'm stil interested.

At the same time I also wanna compare the 'firmness' of your brakes as compared to mine.

BTW, I changed my brake pads to Yamaha ones but its made in Msia and used by Dragstar. Costed S$25 per set including installation @ ASPhoon-Serangoon. :cheeky:

Hi Casper Dude!

You should not use the hair band, because if it collect any leaks (brake fluid) it may eat your paint work around the reservoir...cause peelings.:nono:

If our brake fluid reservoir is made of plastic like some other sports bike it's okay.. ours are made of cast metal and was painted in black...

I had this idea before and use hand bands use for (tennis/badmintons) I ever used on my earlier bikes which had plastic brake reservoir..but this could not be applied to our bikes..:nono:

I don't know about the yamaha brake pads it is all (depends on your feed back) using it on a wet/dry roads...as it is mend for dragstar which dosen't need much heavy braking if it compare to street/sports bikes..(my suggestion)

You should get those pads made for sports or street bikes- after all you already install, never mind try it out...we get the feed back from you..

As for me I stick to EBC.. fast riding and heavy braking..pads last longer and less dust..
