Might be some water gets into the fuel tank.Try running near empty tank then topup with better grade of fuel like V-power or caltex 98 and see how.

Past rides are already history....

Current ride: FW VFR 800 ABS

Bro,

There is a way of retrieving the error code for the ABS. I can't extract it from the factory manual pdf file but here's the link.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D6YYFLXG

The ABS troubleshooting is in section 16.

For the spongy brakes, that's normal. Just pump it a few times before you ride off..

the abs kept blinking up. So continue riding abt 2km plus when the temp rises ard 78deg, the engine die off. Start bk the engine, can run again & continue riding then the symptom comes again. Tulan, call the tow truck to Mah Motor. MT ask me is the symptom like this this this, i say Ya how come u know? Then he took out the rectifier & coil n explained to me this is the cause of the abs blinking. Coil original abt 890SGD, recifier abt 120SGD if not wrong. But i left the place a a happy man becos serviced by MT ma....haha

Hi to all....

a potential new viffer here..still thinking about it though....

Hmm the coil is reari darn ex....

i read through the vfr threads...

most state it $350+-

Does it include gasket & workmanship??

Care to elborate mate???

I'm very sentivite to coils...lol

My ZX12R coil cost me $600 (gasket & workmanship not included)

& I really hated coil problems cause almost all my bikes i owned has coil problems...

With regards to bulb blowing every now & then....

it could be due to the rectificer....

it not yet gone but could be going soon...

so do watch out for that...

new problem:

Occasionally (usually once per week) when I start the bike, the clock and instruments will reset. It feels like a 'undervoltage' problem (or battery unable to handle starter motor load). But my battery is quite new (less than 6 months) and I have just changed to a brand new wiring harness. Battery is reading 12.4V prior to starting.

This happens on cold start and sometimes when the bike has warmed up. What are the possible reasons? Beside the starting and clock/odometer restarting, everything is fine and peachy.

Tks in advance!

Just to clarify, my clock seems to stop working for certain periods, then work again. The bike works fine, and starts fine. Is it also a coil problem?

MT23:

Just replace the front twice.

Quite reasonable, less than 2 blues for a CCT+Gasket+Labour.

Don't have to replace coolant if the mechanic knows how to work around the radiator :)

Do check the CCT chain to ensure it is still within the specs, otherwise replace it too.

sorry to dig out such an old post, but where did you get this done? i think my Gen 6 might either have valve clearance issues or the CCT is going soon.. cheers.

Hi... Encounter this issue, but not too sure whether its normal.

I now own a 6 gen VFR 02'

1.) Not really familiar how combined brake sys works. Somehow when I front brake not that effective. Feels spongy. Is it normal?

Do you recommend to change the brake hose?

Do you recommend to separate the system?

Do you recommend to change the clutch & brake pump as they are almost 8 years old?

2.) When you turn your handle bar to the extreme left or right, do you still have allowance to grab on to the throttle? I have adjusted the bars to maximum and yet my hand got caught in between the tank and the throttle. Could it be alignment problem?

Ans 1) Bro if i not wrong, yr 02 model dun hv CBS, only ABS nia. If i not wrong ABS-CBS came on 06 model onwards. Anyway CBS is controlled by the ECU on 60% frt/40%rear. If u brake more on rear, ECU will cut in the remaining % @ frt.

Brake hose if u got spare $, go ahead becos the price is extorting though it works beta than stock.

Separate the CBS-ABS system if u can identify where is the fuse for the CBS.

Change brake/clutch pump, it depend how the previous owner took care of it. Izzit flush annually? Or let the mechanic took it out to service the spring, O-rings etc will be beta
