I say you buy/ wear riding boots for the waterproof/ anti-slip/ safety features.

None of which matters for a pair casual shoes.

Walking around in a largely non-breathable and heavy riding boots in town is not my cup of tea.

I got a pair of riding boots which i wear to work then to normal office shoes.

I wear a few different 28cm ish high designs all day.

Have odour reducer inner sole instead of standard, stuff with newspaper when not wearing...

Find the low cut designs like you show are tighter so trap heat.... high cut is looser allowing air flow and can flex foot around more.

I wear TCX air and also matrix boot, best walking/riding boot I found.

Sidi air were not so good to walk in, excellent riding boot though.

When I had other job and just ride to / from work best to change shoes better for posture health and comfort.

bro is it comfortable when walking n riding? is it hot?

i tot of getting it..

Sorry... I missed out this thread :cheeky:

Riding... excellent...

Walking... not too bad... it's "stealth" enough not to be noticed... BUT, the sole is quite slippery on wet tiles and wet metal sheets

Hot? To be waterproof, I guess it will be more or less hot... But I work in door with air con, so sometimes I can even wear it the whole day

overall... for a pair of 200 dollar shoes which I wear at least 5 days a week for the past 2 years, I am happy with it, and will get another pair when the sole is worn though :thumb:

i've got the TCX matrix 2 aka X-five goretex a mth ago. the fit was good, not that hot in my opinion. need to season the boots to b comfortable.

the other more comfortable boots is the TCX airtech goretex. the inner lining is goretex membrane. totally breathable. just like army goretex boots. it is oso waterproofing but how much, i'm not sure. by review, this is the most comfortable boots for hot weathered countries.

i am using the XPD riding boots at present. quite comfortable. there are ventilation holes at the arch of the boot. i don't find it hot for wearing it walking around. So as it says when there is ventilation will also means it not waterproof.

Riding Shoes/Boots is like riding a bike; its all about compromise.

Armour comes with stiffness; u can't get protection without stiffness. Protection is mainly provided by CE armour to protect your ankles against impact injuries. If you want something that can really take some hard knocking, its unlikely to be comfortable walking around in it. Likewise, something really comfortable walking around in will not provide much protection. Think of FC and HP, its a compromise.

I'll stick to my SAF boots anytime. Heck, its FOC anyway.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

I'm wearing Vendramini (ordered from the US). It's fairly comfortable for daily use but I would like to "preserve" it as you can't really replace the sole once it wears out. Other than SAF boots, may I know if anybody is using hiking boots as "alternative" riding boots. I was thinking that if you choose one made of leather, waterproof, and without too many design features that may cause the boots to snag, that may be a possible ""alternative" for city riding.

i am actually using hiking boots (ankle cut) not water proof anymore, but beats tennis shoes. and wear them for office as well... have had this pair (bought from Red Wing shop Suntec city) for about 5 years++ now. S$220 if i recall...

occasionally i use safety boots, but only in the rain as it's 90% water proof...

Grounded... :/

riding boots mean for riding only. if you do too much walking, you can feels very uncomfortable cause it's hot and sweating inside.

not all riding boots are hot... i wear TCX Air Tech XCR Touring Boots.

Very breatheable, but sometimes too colling, especially if i'm in the server room whole day with the boots on....

Cant remember how much i bought it, bought from Newenough.com. That was before Oxtar changed name to TCX.. Its actually Oxtar Airtech GTX XCR (GTX XCR meaning Goretex XCR). Its exactly the same as TCX Air Tech XCR, but since the company changed name frm Oxtar to TCX the price increased alot!

I bought cheaper then the current TCX price, but abit wasted also. When TCX was introduced Newenough had a closeout sale on all the OXTAR brand of boots and it was dirt cheap!

you won't be the first one to do it. no one really cares. ppl who are gonna condemn you for wearing SAF boots, why bother to know them anyway? not worth your time!

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.
