That has nothing to do with the brand of the plugs. That is what you have a choke for, to adjust the idle from cold start and warm up the bike.

NGK plugs are fine, I use them and have no problems at all.

$4.8K machine price is a bit high. If that includes first year insurance then still acceptable.

Cost per servicing depends on how many things get replaced and how in-depth you want to go. Anything from $100+ (oil change and simple checks) to $2000+ (major upgrades and parts replacement). I fall into the latter category because I want to get the most out of my CBR400RR and I am proud to do it.

What mods have you done?

I've had my suspension front and back upgraded and it performed very well at the track, was very happy with the handling, now just have to get the tuning spot on!

Where did you get your springs done?

I got valves and springs from a race tuner in Australia, my rear shock is a custom unit so I can't help there sorry :( Not that familiar with the local suppliers.

well Zer0 ,

i think u are wrong ...

spark plugs do make a difference..

thats y there is $8 $10 and $20++

there's also different rating.

turning the idling ... is kinda stupid .. cos even if u set high ... when the bike is fully warm.. won't the bike be idling too high...

So anyone here like to share abt what plugs are good..

u guys using the 8 or 9 rating ?

I will just mention the major performance ones. I don't want to sound like I'm selling my bike, because I am not... :cheeky:

NC23 headers

GPR Titanium exhaust

K&N air filter

Carb jetting

Custom radiator

Custom fork springs

CBR600F3 rear shock

HEL brake hoses

NC35 rear brake master cylinder

When I was writing this reply, I started thinking. "Wow, I spent so much but my list of mods is pretty short!" Then I realized that a lot of my money was spent on replacing worn parts that previous owners didn't even care about, or didn't know existed. I cannot remember how many bearings and wear-and-tear parts I had to replace during my initial full service. The invoice was so long!

Where are you overhauling your CBR engine? I heard from my friend that there is a stripped CBR engine in K&T now. Is it yours?

Oops. My fault. 24th is the Johor Clubman Race, so we can't go. I guess it's going to be 25th and 26th. Celebrate XMas with a blast on PG! I will try to go on both days.

Ok now this time please READ what I write.

There are different prices for different grade of plugs. The difference between the cheapest ones and the most expensive ones is HOW LONG THEY LAST. Not anything to do with performance. Iridium plugs are supposed to last 100k klms or so whereas the cheapest plugs are only supposed to be good for around 10k klms so you have to change them more often.

Hence the price difference. Nothing to do with performance.

I never said to "turn the idle adjuster" I said USE YOUR CHOKE. That is exactly what it is on the bike for, to enable you to cold start the bike easily and have it idle a bit higher than usual to warm up. When you are done you push the choke back in and you have never touch the idle adjuster. This is the purpose of a choke and why all bikes have them.

You are right that having a plug with an incorrect gap or heat range can be detrimental to performance, but this is not one type of plug being worse than another it is simply the incorrect plug for your bike being installed. Just grab a set of whatever the manual recommends for your bike and stick it in there, if you want plugs that last longer so you can avoid changing them so often then get some iridiums at additional cost.

Performance and cold starting will be exactly the same either way though.

if u hav diff starting yr bike in the morning, u cab use rate 8..

but dun expect much performance when the bike is well heated up..

cos most of the energy is converted to heat energy rather than mechancial energy..

the price not onli guage how long they last..

they oso gauge the finest of the spark..

u see the tip of the cathode..

some is sharp, some is wider..
