Guys till now I still dunno wat is YPVS. I know it stand for Yamaha Power Valve System. Wat is it for??? I do can feel when my bike is at 7rpm it tense to force toward... hmm... it's like a suddenly force of my bike going faster it push the bike forward suddenly. Izzit the YPVS ???

To my knowledge... YPVS is to control the valve system at gear 1 till actualli your valve opens... Normally during engage at gear 1... Valve will be opened to allow more power to acelerate... Second gear, the valve will close. The YPVS will be closed until you reach rpm 7 again....

Correct me if im wrong.

Forgot to add in that Yamaha was the first to implement powervalve to allow more torque and speed which it kicks in.... alter the exhaust port... the lower the port... the higher the torque... the higher the port... the top end is nice.

Hello... Got a bikeshop quote me 70 for spraying my rim. Izzit ex ???

Thinking of spraying my rim.

Wat abt the main chassic ?? I heard is very ex cos got to dismental all the parts.

sorry bro, i sprayed my fork, chassis, swingarm, sidestand n rims myself. u only need to dismantle ur fairings n sideboards. then with the magic of a whole set of old Straits Times plus a roll of 3cm n a roll of 5 cm width masking tape does the trick of preventing your tyres n unwanted components from being sprayed. sure, it's one hell of a lot of work n ur bike might look like a dumpling or a packet of nasi lemak, hehehe but the end result n ur un-holed pocket gives u e ultimate satisfaction u can neva get even with sex. i'm not sure if whether $70 to spray rims is ex or not, nor am i sure of e cost of spraying ur chassis which might cost a bomb. :cheeky:

hi pple...jus wanna find out from every individual...how much do you spend on your baby per month?

maintenance + petrol + engine oil...everything.... =) and how often do you need to send ur baby into workshop because parts spoil =X

My Maintenance Summary

-------------------------------

Petrol - JB Caltex 97 1.410RM/L - S$85/mth (I stay at bt batok, wk at changi naval base, everyday travel 100km, every 3 days top up petrol. Bike condition is fully stock, mainjet size 190, front sprocket size 15, rear size 45, average speed 110km/h @ rpm 6, mileage is average 300km per full tank)

2T - bypassed ycls so higher consumption. 1L Every 5.5 days. ah boy's Unicorn $2/btl. So 1 mth i use 5 bottles = $10/mth

4T - Self change every 3 mths. ah boy's Unicorn $3/btl.

Spark plug NGK R $6 every 3 months.

Carb cleaning every month (self) when not using air filter, every 3 mths when using. Air filter wash n relube every 6 mths.

Full service every 6mths - includes valve cleaning n valve motor n cable lubing ($25), topblock, piston n pipe decarbonising ($50), coolant flush (self).

Every week lubing of moving parts n joints with wd40 after washing. Esp chain lube using PJ1 blue label ($7). one can of PJ1 lasts me 2 months.

Very important is valve servicing. If ure running a mod n travel less, u need to service evry 6 mths. travel a lot n its every 3 mths. If ure running a stock n travel less, u can push it to once a year. If like me, a stock travelling a lot, every 6 mths is sufficient. good to be kiasu if u have e finances. forget about servicing ur valve n u'll end up like me 3 years back - 400 freaking bucks to replace e whole valve system. tzm is well known for fast valve breakdown.

i take it that ure running a stock n travel a lot so you should go for a full servicing once every 6 months. normally, a full svc comprises of changing spark plug, engine oil, carb cleaning, valve servicing, decarbonising topblock, piston n pipe, chain tightening n lubing n coolant flushing n some bike shops even throw in a free wash + lubing as what ive heard. the whole package can come up to $100+, but if u know how to do some of e servicing urself u can cut it down to $75 like me. u can NEVER ever ever forget e valve servicing. when it breaks down while ure travelling, believe me, you will always have nightmares of ur valve when u sleep. been there, done that. my fav line is always, try to believe ehehehe

Top block? Block?

Block is the place where your piston works.

Top block? I assume you are saying the cylinder header.

too many times u decarbonise can cause vave problems right? correct me if im wrong.

Decarbonise is to use high burning flames to force out carbon that stays in the exhuast muffler. I guess you were saying valve clearing at rpm 7.

If you wanna clear valve, ensure your bike always in good condition. Too seldom valve clearing or reaching redline can cause quite alot of problem when routine checks are not done.

hoho...wad u think of mito bikes? =p

Mito... Its italian sportbike. Great for circuit dashing. Not practical for normal road use for a normal person. Comparing Tzm piston with Mito piston. Instanly, you see the great different between these two interms of "Pricing" only.

As for the actual fact of ridding. I had never ridden a Mito before. Hence unable to make performance comments on it. But aprilia, yes. RS its like heavy and super stable during high speed cornering whereby a tzm can never be felt. I am not saying that tzm, sp or krr cannot do the same as RS. Its up to the ridder to challenge the event. I did a high speed cornering too. But the feeling was never as good as having a up side down fork.

Carburetor is the place where your air, 2t and fuel premix in before the reel valve release and go into the engine. upon the crank moves, the piston moves down and the fluids comes in and move up till it reaches the plug. It fires and the crank moves down and it will go to the exhaust.

yah true....italian bikes...parts are crazily ex! too bad huh.... let me tell u a little about myself then maybe you can give me some valueable suggestions?

i live in chua chu kang and my school is all the way at mountbatten.. so thats quite a distance...and i am also a teacher so i travel to various places to teach hence a motorbike will defitnitely be very important to me as u know...cars are expensize...heh..

i am not really one who love speeding and defitnitely will abide by rules...(at the moment..) because i have alot of friends that i know of that have met with fatal accidents. so in a way theres a certain fear thus i guess i will be slightly more careful..

i defitnitely want to get a sportbike and would surely mod wadeva i can to make it swee swee.. maybe not really parts as 2B bikes mod so much in the end i still wanna get 2A/class 2 bikes in near future..i would want something that is quite cost effective yet at the same time chio and head turning...wad bike can i achieve all that=) of cause stability is a plus point...

with my kind of mentality, travelling journeys and expectations... any suggestions?

sorry for all the newbie questions......... :cheer: :cheer: .

anybody feel free to comment.... appreciates that... :spam: :spam: :spam:

carb=carburetor. u see a T-shaped component in between ur block and ur airbox, with MIKUNI embossed on it? that's ur baby. hohosaint has explained what it is for. let me add that it consists of metering circuits (pilot jet, mainjet, slide valve, needle jet, float) that controls how much fuel/air/2T mixture enters ur cylinder to be burnt. how is it controlled? ur throttle.

bro, all my servicing are done here in SG. mostly under my blk. for full svc i frequent HUA CHIN over at Midview Bldg @ Bt Batok Crescent. actually e prices quoted are near market value.

block is a local slang for cylinder. block is where ur spark plug sticks out from e top. in e block is ur piston. combustion occurs in e block. block is made up of 2 separate parts, top n bottom, separated by a metal gasket. e term "topblock" is a slang used to refer to e top part, or cylinder head, as mentioned by hohosaint. a lot of carbon sticks to e inner surface of the topblock and piston surface, esp for someone who uses budget series petrol n 2T like me hehehe. to de-carbonise is simply to remove carbon by proper means. like wat hohosaint has described about decarbonising e exhaust pipe. i'm not sure how e bike shop decarbonises e topblock n piston surface, i just leave my bike there for an hour n go off for makan.

QuoVadis

-----------

e only problems u may experience from frequent decarbonising is financial problems, hehehe :cheeky: i decarbonise every 6 mths cos i use JB's Caltex octane 97 (green pump) petrol and ah boy's $2 Unicorn 2T. this combination leads to more improper combustion which leads to higher carbon buildup. if u use SG's 98 or even better VPower, and fully-synthetic 2T, carbon buildup will not be as bad as mine. maybe u'll only need to decarbonise once a year. remember, cheap=more maintenance. expensive=less maintenance, not no maintenance. u fail on these rules n ur bike will fail, which equals to MAJOR maintenance :cheeky:

speedkills

------------

cck to la salle mtbatten, that's roughly 30km. so u want a sportsbike, preferably either a tzm, mito or aprilia. so ure a teacher, that means u have solid finances. but u still wanna go for economy, comfortability, practicality and glamour. i'd say a Yamaha TZM 150, whaddya say guys???

Posted

to speedkills, if u after, economy, practicality, glamour, go for CBR 150.

Mito is not as problematic as you guys think. Only its parts are slightly more expensive.

If doing normal servicing like wash carburettor, clean valve, change gear oil, prices are similar to all 2b sportsbike.

Posted

Oh yeah, I believe TZM are generally more expensive because they prove to be winning jackpot bikes. But the newer generation of TZM owners don't really play jackpot anymore.
