Think the more well-known ones are Samsung and Philips... more importantly have to get one with a longer warranty (i.e. Philips)

I'm deciding whether to get a LCD when my present CRT spoils, or simply purchase a new PC instead!

I was told that Benq is the cheapest. $200 for a 15" at Sim Lim Square! For me, I'll pay more for a Philips. Philips is the best so far in the LCD monitor world. I still have a Philips 105s Monitor that I bought 9 years ago. It hasn't spoil yet!

Philips 170S is low end model in philip although they give 3 years onsite warranty but the quality is lose to LG & smasung.

Now no ppl go for 15" LCD...i'll suggest getting 17" or even 19"

if you going for price philip is a good choice

but quality i'll go for samsung or LG

btw BenQ LCD TV quality is good lol

viewsonic and samsung :thumb:

but im using CMv, china brand but im loving it. :D

FYI, CMV is taiwanese

pro & con list of LCD monitors,

1)Viewsonic - Uses Taiwanese LCD panel (CMV), can be good & bad. if really wanna buy pay higher to get Vx series. other then Vx it uses lower grade LCD panel.

2)Philips - Dare devil in LCD industry, 1st to launch zero bright dot warranty. worth of $$ for their zero bright dot. other then that so so nia. now a days they uses taiwanese LCD panel too.

3)LG & Samsung - half fight competitor from Korea, worth for $$. but if one are looking at design, take Samsung.

4)BenQ & Acer - piece of crap (no offence to user), uses lower grade taiwanese LCD panel yet act like big boss. & after sales service :nono:

5)CMV - value for $, but design :faint: ,only the model 934D is worth going after.

IMHO, the best quality display still belong to Hitachi LCD panel, they r uses by Sony & Fujitsu. but pricing is not affordable by every1 :cheeky:

VIEWSONIC, how isit?

Personal opinion:

Bright. Dot pitch size is good. However, I feel that they could at least improve on their design...

seems like philips give the best warrenty for its panels.

buying LCD is just like buying bike. other than the price, design and features, have to watch out for the after sales service support and wtty issues also
