Hi ducati riders, if the price was the same for a 1098S with a full termis system VS a 1198 with termis slipons.

 

which will u pick?

and why?

u ask dis question on d 12!

i 'll chip in 5 cents worth!

both 1098s & 1198 weights d same stock(171kg)!

cause d "s" got forged aluminium rim whereas base 1198 dun.

anyway i dun think both dis machine 're d same price?reckonu juzz wants to start an argument dats all!

since both stock machine 're d same weight d "s" stand to lose more cause its a full system which is 8% up on d 160hp,which should b now 172hp!

for d 1198 ,it comes in @ 170,with d slip on , i can't seems to find sd percentage increase , should b somewhere a couple of horses,perhaps 2 or 3 horses more!

but i reckon , d ohlins is deciding factor , people says alamak ,dat one can buy later , if u 've d dole.its not so straight forward anyway,not many people actually bought a after market onlins , maybe d rear but definitely not d front & rear . as far as i'm noe , i'm d only handfull of guys who bought d works ....for my 916sps !

but of coarse ,people reckon showa / ohlis no difference lah ?

take it from me,i use my 916 with all showas in p.g. & my 916sps with all ohlins,if i can try to put it across ,its like.........night & day!!!!

With the introduction of the 1098 and the new 1198, all other previous models are now quite affortable as compared to last time... They older models are now in the same price range as the new Japs , or in fact slightly cheaper.

 

 

 

if u fancy a ducati,really really fancy basically,sky's d limit!

u can start off with monster,perhaps 10yrs or more,that 'll b more affordable!maintenance?i can put u to the perfect mechanics for u!problem with a lot of people,they dun put their money where their mouth is!

they can says a lot of good things abt d brand but when time to cough out , its a diffrent thing altogether.

of coarse if budget's a problem(dun we all) dun sit there & dream abt d desmo or 1098r.

juzz hop on one ,check out d x'perience , go for the least x'pensive cause if u juzz sit there,nothing 'll happen(s)

coincidentally,u must noe , ducati is LOUD !u need to noe,what u 're buying into,i noe of people who bought their dream ducati & to get rid of it in a month!

complaining its not like a super four,period

Just to add on to what bro Fesa had said...

Frankly, I dun know about the stock ohlins vs stock showas (never tried). However, stock showas vs after market ohlins (FG320) is like night and day. Huge difference !!!

thank you for the compliments, just collected it today.. finally. Doing the break-in hoping enough time for the track session in Sepang this Nov. Cant wait to try the DTC gadget. Hopefully can keep up with the MSS boys, damn they are fast.

I got my accessories for the sponsor listed at ducati superbikes forum in States. Frame plug you can check with Joe, sprocket cover from speedymoto. Your previous owner bike sold his accessories in the forum, some items still havent been sold off yet I think.

 

PS: there only 2 of your kind in Singapore roads... Awesome!! That was my 1st choice last time but settled for the red... it was xtra 5k for the paintwork..

how's yr ducati sports 1000 getting along?

u didn't follow up with a review on the bike or which method of run in u decided to choose?

there's many way to fried an egg as d saying goes.

u can basically choose hard or soft option

but me reckon the biggest sin in any run in process is LUG!

thou should never never lug an engine!

lugging is a process where the speedometer & tachometer dun match.typical example,humps found in most hdb area,u approach d hump with reduced speed but most owners dun change a gear down to match the slow speed,so u can hear a lot of click,click,click,click sound !

thru x'perience,i noticed ducati engines 're pretty tight ,u need double the recommended mileage to do the same job.

if u dun see humps regularly any ascending or climbing up of highways,always be mindful to be on the right gear to match your speed.

another thing dats been mentioned in moto man is proper warm up,what i can says is in our tropical climate,we dun really needs to.

my ritual ( i 've a termignoni's dat can wake up d dead) is start & move slowly,perhaps after 3 traffic lights than u can gather some speed.

 

i think i 've BORE u guys enough !

when i pick up my bike @ minerva last saturday to bring it home,1st thing i noticed is how refined d new Testastretta Evoluzione engines .

its so smooth its not true!

in fact d whole package dun feel ducati,

it feels very japanese,if u ask me ?

but the barking termignonis save the day.why i 'm saying is ,its so far away from my 1998 SPS which spits fire everywher she goes,

i think ducati is heading in different directions now?

started its life in 1994 , 916 strada ,916bp , 916sp ,916 senna1(dard grey)

916 senna 2(metalic silver)916 senna 3(dark grey)not avail in s'pore & 916sps

 

*ps the whole lot 're 916cc x'cept d sps version 're 996!

in between they launched a race version of the 916(955cc)meant for ama superbike series in d states!
