Another question to those far more experienced...

How do you mount the cashcard IU so that it still works with carpark sensors, is easy to access the card (for removal) and is out of the way (I realise out of way & easy access contradict each other).

I'm after an elegant solution to the problem.

Currently the IU is under the rear seat and works with ERP but not carparks.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

some do a mount near the triple clamps in between the display and triple clamps. need to send to shop do the bracket. for me I dont use IU unit and if need use also I will mount it on my triple clamps with usage of 3M fasteners and my IU is plug and play type :)

that is encouraging. I am more or less relieved. Thank you

I am same height as u.... Seal is right that the seat is narrow, so it improves reach as our legs are not open so wide. Getting a used bike helps as the springs are more seasoned... I'm very comfortable on my 848. U shld have no problem.

Has anyone had experience with the T-Rex Frame sliders?

These ones have a mounting plate that enables outer fairing sliders without cutting holes in the fairing.

Cheers

Found some no-cut frame sliders at Motoworld. Hopefully they were a waste of money and I never get to use them :-)

anybody using heat wraps for your exhaust pipes?

some forummer is selling it.

roughly how many metres do i need to wrap my exhaust, starting from outlet to exhaust for 1098?

probably will buy and then bring it to raymond and get him to wrap for me.

If u're patience in one moment of anger, u will avoid 100 days of sorrow.

If anyone is interested, I have a original ducati suspension link which will help lower the rear height by up to 40mm. I have compensated the front by 17.5mm when rear is lowered 20mm and it steers the same. Oil cooler has no problem clearing humps and all.

Since the 848/1098/1198 steers like dog poo on asphalt, I'm sure there's no adverse effect on handling. PM me or search for my number. Cheers.

I used it on my 848evo. If you're getting it to solve the heat issue, i'll discourage it, as it doesn't solve the problem. I even tried installing a underseat heat insulation from 'tpoparts'. Both, put like never put liddat.

Wow! First post dedicated to helping someone, good on you sir. Just to add on and I hope i don't sound like a broken record but in all honesty anyone buying a ducati should have done his/her due diligence in gathering enough information about the bike both paper and consensus. Seems like many are buying blind then immediately complaining about the heat being emitted from the exhausts. I am not pointing fingers here but if you are really set on buying a bike even relying on hearsay would give you a pretty good indication that the fairing bikes do emit a fair bit of heat. 848 or 1098/1198.

But if you want a work around, I am certain that a full system exhaust with titanium headers will dispell heat faster than the stock headers. Another solution is to put the bike for sale and get a CBR. Sure solves the problem at hand.

Just saying and not getting offensive here. No harm intended.

good one bro, well said.

i was contemplating wrapping my exhaust and after a few online searches, seems like it is a time wasting money wasting effort.

these bikes are made for outright performance, heat is a by product of the constant search by manufacturer to produce more hp

Some people have too much money that they don't think before buying a bike... Too rich already, buy first, any problem later then think about it...

Yes & No.

I did a chunk of research on the 848 as well as the RSV4 (which is meant to be even hotter) and knew that the bike will be very warm. The problem is I didn't know actually how warm it would be when riding the bike as none of the dealers will let you do a test ride. My final view was that if there are a bunch of people already riding them it must be tolerable.

I'm riding a 848 and I can honestly say its one of the lowest heat temp bike for a cl 2. It's just nice for Singapore road. Personal point of view.

exactly, how much research can one does when he doesn't get to test ride and even if he did, he would be required to test ride for a long distance to feel the heat.

we need helpful people to build a friendly community here but not high headed crap thinking he knows everything and can shoot sarcastic remarks at people.

haha and cheers to all the new ducati riders, hope to meet up with you guys someday!

Good on u! I did no research on the 848 and bought it only becos a mate was selling a very special unit which was well cared for. It turned out much easier to ride than the legendary 916. And as for heat... What heat??? Hahaha!
