Well what is done is done, as long as he does a good job, pay more still ok.

No point arguing because some shops will claim their rental higher lah, worker more experienced lah, so need to charge more, you know kena chop, also suck thumb right?

The worst ones are those who charge slightly lower than average, but damaged everything, and the workmanship is so poor that the job have to be redone. And to overhaul twice in a row is a killer.

well said! as long if your safety is not compromised during servicing, life is still more important than money that you have already paid for..

Hi peeps,

Late last night I took out my front sprocket cover to clean. However, when reassembling, I must have applied too much torque, causing the top screw to break, leaving the thread side of the screw stuck inside. Can someone direct me if any motor shop can do such a removal or is there a specialized shop to remove the broken end of the screw?

Thanks in advance! :)

omgg.. Any propely trained mechanic will extract the a screw properly.. No need a motor shop or a specialise motor shop.. But better find a mechanic who is trustworthy to help you to extract.. No mechanic i know who does that but u can find the usual big names but have to ask them how they extract first ..

Thanks for the reply. Mechanic made a slot indentation on the broken thread and simply screwed it out with a slotted screwdriver. Lesson learnt.

That's a good idea! I usually drill out broken screws.. Next time don't overtorque so much lo!

Bro..if they do a good job uou r right brother. Share my experience, last time my hike die halfway, i still dont know planet tat time, i call an uncle which listed its number in forum, he ride his motor down to repair my bike, chg a magnet, then say my battery seems about to chg..i say oklor...you know what..after two week cannot start again, finally i find in this thread and call planet to help..

I start to think its a rip off and maybe he did something bad to my bike. No doubt it seemed smoother, but i used to be able to reach 110km/h v smoothly. now it seemed v vibrate-y. but up to 100km/h seemed smooth. he told me he did me a favour in changing the clutch plates too. but then when i kick gear, v hard to reach neutral. i went to planet he say is the clutch plate problem. so i think he is quite bullshit. oh wells expensive lesson learnt!

Sua liao.. $$$ all spent liao.. Better to learn a little mechanical knowledge nowadays than kena cheated by a half past six over zealous mech who doesn't know what's going on and just want to jiak you.. Industry always got such ppl one not just motordiam..

Very hard to reach neutral may not be clutch plate. The gear shift lever is one of the common causes. The hole connecting the gear shift elongates over time resulting in an inaccurate lever/fulcrum angle. Changing it costs $35 (buy from Everfit) and a bit of time (less than 15 minutes for me).

  • 2 weeks later...

hi guys, anyone got kena this problem before :?:?:?:?

this sound very random one, very similar to the sound when u kick in first gear, sometimes the noise is like some metal part moving inside gear/engine.

this is more audible especially when riding on gear 1 or 2.

I went to ah chong few days back, but he says most likely is from chain, and help me to lubricate, then ok for a while, then now getting louder liao.

sound like something gonna fall off soon, but it doesnt affect all the bike function at all.

thanks in advance if anyone knows of this issue!

I have installed voltmeter at my phantom, and when I on my engine the voltmeter did not increase. The mechanic told me to change my starter/magnetic coil.

I think I should go LAB and buy then ask Jb mechanic to fix for me. The thing now is, what must I buy?

1. Magnetic coil?

2. Starter carbon?

3. Magnetic coil gasket?

Thanks in advance to everyone.

Your voltmeter previously working? or you recently installed a voltmeter? No reading on voltmeter may also mean voltmeter is dead.

If coil is dead, battery would be flat after a while since there is no charging.

changing the mag coil need to open left crank case. I can't recall if the ignition coil and generator coil are sold separate but they can be separated. if change probably need to replace left crank case gasket. starter carbon is unrelated to ac generation so don't need to replace.

Anyway, really confirm the coil is gone? See where you tap the voltmeter also, some points when you tap you will get constant voltage, not an increased voltage. at 5k rpm you should expect charging voltage of around 14.5 volts. if you're willing you might want to tell us what is the voltage reading at engine idle and throttle moderately open, with and without the lights off. At idle with head lights on will be 12+ volts.

Try this first, before you change your magnetic coil.

FREE and good.

Go park your bike near a wall, with the head light shinning on it.

Revv your engine hard and let go.

Did the light become brighter when you revv?

If it did, the voltage increased. ie: No need to change anything.

The scenario is I just bought my yuasa batt six months ago. I went Jb and when otw home my motor can't start. So me and my friend kick start the motor and go to the shop.

After installing the new battery, he used the voltmeter tapped from the battery itself. And start the engine. The volt increase. The voltmeter that I newly installed is showing 11.9 volt and if on headlight it dropped to 11.4V. Without any increase in voltage. From there he deduce that my magnetic coil is spoiled.

Monday morning when I start the bike, the voltage got increase slightly at 12.5V. After awhile it dropped back. Monday afternoon start bike when going home. The voltmeter showed 11.7V (headlight off).

This morning, the voltmeter showed increase, 12.3V. When rev it showed up till 14V.

I rev the engine the light is brighter.

But th confusing part is sometimes when I start bike, the voltage increase. Sometimes voltage showed only 11.6V.

What must I do? I thought go LAB buy magnetic coil and the gasket and installed other shop. Planet charged 230 for the magnetic n gasket.

But sometimes the voltage got increase.

Must I go bike shop or go LAB to purchase spare parts.

Thank you guys for the feedback!!! Helped a lot.

As long your voltage increase, your coil is generating electricity, shouldn't need to replace I guess. As long you can start up the bike daily with e start after overnight, definitely it's charging well. The lower voltage could be due to electrical load with nt so new batt but should be fine if u can start normally.

How about you try to re-rout your electrical components?

1. ERP reader rout to key switch - super easy to diy. Just connect the fuse-end (hotwire) of the ERP reader to the signal light relay hotwire (brown color). The signal light relay is underneath the front right chrome cover.

2. Do grounding to frame. Get a wire connect from the positive end of the battery (underneath the seat) and connect the other end to the nut securing the rear brake reservoir.

Or you can get a voltmeter to test the bundle of relays under the left front chrome cover. Sometimes when one of the relays are faulty, elects become crazy and weird things happen. The last time one of my relays worn out, my left signal bulb keep fusing. I literally change bulbs every few days.

Tried googling but can't find answers to what I need. Some help from the Seniors here maybe?

1. Do i need install relay for Led-based fog lights? (U5 cree fog lights)

HTB1xFj_FVXXXXaLXFXXq6xXFXXXl.jpg

Reason is I don't seem to see it as significantly brighter than the normal U2 or U3 cree type. But looking at the wiring on the foglight, it doesn't seem to need to draw a lot of power also. (thin wires, 3mm type)

And if i need a relay, where and what type should i be using?

How much does a relay cost?

hi Guys, today morning my TA200 seem to be going off in between the ride. so when i open throttle and about to close the throttle, it seem to be turning off the engine. Thought it would stop in KPE but i just manage to reach office by opening throttling a lot. Had to press clutch and keep throttling to avoid it getting turning off at traffic lights also. Anybody got ideas what could be the problem? After the ride fuel smell was also much more than earlier days. Seems it happened after it went into reserve(just when i was entering KPE it went to reserve). After reserver also i think it should have 2+ litre of fuel so don't think fuel is an issue.
