if I am not wrong, it is for air to move in and out of the engine oil sump, so that the engine would not be over pressurised when the piston is at the lowest point... its existence is also why engine oil can leak out of the bike when the bike is sideways... and that engine oil "disappear" over time even from engines is good condition

Thanks Vidak. So the thing is to be left alone and not to be disturbed?

Hey,

hope someone can really help cos my bike got a few problems.

1)

I went out awhile during the morning today and it starts normally.

I went to SHELL to pump my tires and noticed only the rear tire pumps normally

the front tire seems to be having difficulty pumping air into it

then gave up and ride back home with the front tire seems puncture

so, can someone tell me if the front tire has puncture inside or something?

i can't seem to pump air in it and when press the tire its not firm

felt so dangerous when riding at that time

2)

when i want to go out during the afternoon, I saw my bike lying on the floor

:faint: after picking up the bike, didn't notice any oil leaks

i insert the key and can't even start.

tried a few times got the electric sound but still couldn't start

then switch off engine and on back

when press the starter the electric sound disappear:cry::cry:

so, again can someone tell me if it's the spark plug or something else is spoil?

i manage to take out the spark plug and clean it with cloth.

but still can't even start.

3)

Is there such service where a mechanic can come over to my place to fix the problem?

Or must I tow the bike?

your help is greatly appreciated

Hi PK,

I would like to re-spray my ride but at the same time still be able to ride it.. Therefore not sure if there is any shop that can provide a replacement tank etc so that I do not need to leave the bike there??

I think you have not inserted the pump into the valve completely... so what you did what that you deflated the tyre... you should reinsert the pump... if the pump still refuse to pump air in, press the button that forces air to pump out and insert it into the valve...

if your bike was on the floor, someone had done something very serious to it...

well there are too many possible reasons on why you bike failed to start initially... check if you still have petrol left, check that there are no loose hoses hanging around your carb, check the level of your engine oil... etc...

as for the electric starter... well pressing a few times would flatten the battery...

if the bike seems ok... you should try to push start it...

mechs won't leave their workplace usually... towing is probably the answer if push start fails... you can call planet for towing... 67474740

1. try using the emergency/puncture button at the pump....this one has no setting .i suppose it gave a max pressure and delivery of air to a puncture tyre. so that u can inflate the tyre. i always use this when i cannot pump air into tyre properly--the pump has an error message when that happens and it will deflate tyre...maybe you should take the tyre valve out...and check that the tubings inside is okay...if not problem lah.

2..when bike is found topple over..always inspect bike for damage parts, detached wires and anything that look suspicious...check it out. check the floor for spillage of petro and eo..reconfirm that u still have petrol and sufficient eo in it..

engine cannot/difficult in starting is quite common for topple bike...for carb bikes, simply the carb is flooded and/or the float in the carb is jam/stuck and the valve in it is closed (petrol is unable to flow into it..)

what to do?

for flooded carb...open throttle to max and start engine by electric or push start...this is to clear the excess petrol which may have flowed into the intake...note petrol in liquid form in the intake the bike will result in very dificult start..u may need to push start many times as i am sure u will end up with a dead battery in no time...do this untill bike starts...but sweat man.

for the stuck float...u need to remove bottom cover of carb and test the float...

3.. mech on call? so far mech dont come as most shop are 1 man out fit..tow bike to work shop..is the next best thing to do..

good luck...try push start with throttle in max open position...before u call tow truck..good luck

he ta 150..has no dip stick.....this is visual check of EO in engine..

as long as u see oil in the sight glass..it is ok.. (not 100% COVERED..oif it is =too much)

if oil is not seen==not enough, need top up..

u have to observe carefully as the oil appearing here is clear and almost colourless...unless your eo is pink or purple, most of the time..

ooo i see, thanks man.. but another question, recently i went for reservist and the bike is left at a multi story carpark under shelter for one week. when i went to start the bike the bike is sluggish and will stall and even while riding it suddenly stop, its now more common if its raining. any idea what went wrong?

fuel tank is full, also got 2t, coollent still okay..

2 strokers are what i would call a fussy bike..they run best when they are used everyday..

one of the problems with 2 stroker are cold nights...condensation of petrol/moisture is a perpectual problem..

this is what i do to get it started when it refused to start...

pull choke..

turn your throttle to fully open it..

kick start vigorously...

most time it will start...

run bike with choke on for a couple of minutes to warm up....

check your filter and plug...clean it ---as and when necessary..

get the carb wash..

old bikes maintenace schedule is something you have to adhere to..if u want the bike to perform reliably...if not get ready for a frustrated..and cranky ride.

ahhh... i see, that should solve the prob, should be the bike not warm enuf, thanks man. so the choke is something like opening the valve to carburator???

i just change filter only, left have clean the carb. heard that if no prob dont touch it haha.. but so far its a good bike..

choke is closing air supply to carb...to make a rich mix....bu prrolong use when riding will foul the spark plug..use it for starting only.

i dont know what kind of air filters ur bike has...stock filters are re-usable --just clean it and charge it lighly with eo..will do.

lol izzit, think the mechanic change to disposable one, charge it lightly? what do you mean? sorry for so much question ya,

i see...

charge= oil with eo and wring foam filter off excess oil..

since yours is a disposable filter..then this charging does not apply to ur filter...

any brothers here knows what happened?

this morning at about 11+ i was riding my bike to my camp. i started from bedok pie area. starting seems to be fine. then when i reached bke and i was in the over taking lane my bike suddenly dies off. like when you throttle you don't feel the bike moving then it was like so dangerous as i have to filter all the way to road shoulder. got horned like hell. my bad. initially i thought there was no petrol left but it wasn't the case. the fuel **** is at on. so stuck at road shoulder for quite some time. after awhile i tried starting it started. so i hold my throttle in hope that my bike doesn't dies off again. so off i went. and then just when i reached bke exit to kje the fly over bend. my bike dies off completely. i cannot start the bike using the e-start liao. also no strength to push start.

anyone has any idea whats going on? is it because of the rain. or is it i didn't start my bike for 5 days? or other cause? thanks in advance.

I suspect that it is the spark plug cap...

how to confirm:

1. heat up your engine (not warm up... a.k.a. go for a 15 minutes ride)

2. let your engine idle

3. pour a bucket of water onto the spark plug

if it dies then its the spark plug cap!!

i just only kenna this. like what e other bro said, its spark plug cap. water is able to enter e spark plug area, so it dies off. can go planet to change it, $18... :)

yea... I think you can ride with the tow truck... but you must say so beforehand... just in case there is already a passenger...

it should cost $20...

it should be a pickup truck... dun worry about pushing bikes... the driver can push a 300kg bike up his truck, our 140+kg phantoms are nothing to him

Thanks Vidak. I know that our bikes can be loaded up the truck. What I'm afraid is it can't enter my house basement carpark. Cos got the barrier thingy about the height limit of vehicle to enter. So then i have to move the bike myself from the basement carpark up to the 1st level. :faint:

Anyone wanna lend a hand?:cheeky:
