Push start is easy. I had to do that for 2 days when my starter contacts were kaput. $35 at planet to repair.

If your lights are still working the battery is fine. Hook up a voltmeter to test. Battery -$65, starter coil and carbon brush replacement, $35. Give me a call if you need a push start demo.

i tried once but my bike nearly fell. That time jB bro was ard to teach me since he stayed near. But i rusty liao... lol. My lights still manage to work. only right side got the tiak tiak tiak sound.. which i think most likely is battery? Im a very bike newb, don't have a voltmeter too..

Also how long can we not ride our bike? As in leave it there with no starting whatsoever... I need to obedient to try to start it then.

wah.. 100 bucks.. :sian:

BTW, at gear 3-4 + push the bike then release the clutch to start right? Do i need to turn the throttle? How fast do i need to go ah.... backache.. lol

Also anyone knows about the typical length before i need to start/ride a bike and i can leave it there to rot? Hai thinking of selling due to irregular usage but I buang once before.. got scratches at tank area also. think 4-5th hand already.

Gear 1!

I tried everything from 1-4 over many surfaces and 1-2 simply managed to lock up the rear wheel. Too much resistance from the compression. I might be on different gearing/sprockets from you. 3 finally got the motor spinning and 4 was needed on somebody's very slippery tiled driveway!

It was kind of a fun experience - I wouldn't let my bike break down no matter what! Lost about 1kg pushing the monster around repeatedly day and night rain or shine (and yes I'm very thin already). Led to double cheeseburger addiction.

$60 for starter carbon !?!?

Dr Chong charged me $35. Serious.

Anyways for future such instances I'd probably like to DIY. My issue was one of the carbon brush "springs" being jammed from some crap lodged in it. Once I clean up the brush housing and lube the brushes and springs I'd have a nice perfectly usable spare part.

Look for Koon at 61 Lengkok Bahru, and it comes with motion alarm sensor too!. Not sure about the price. But my advise is not to start your bike so far away as someone can just ride it away before you reach your bike, hahaha...

That's to adjust u're engine idling rpm.

Just bring it down to Chong to the morning and tell him the symtoms.

He'll do watever that needs to be done for you.

I just remembered about my constipated engine. Super loud when on power and in engine braking, with WRX style backfiring.

That was due to the shop putting in 1.5 litres of EO instead of Honda-recommended 1.0 litres. Once oil changed and verified to correct level with dipstick (background sound of protesting people saying "this bike consume oil one)... smooth as tofu.

Engines need a certain amount of air in the crankcase, and overfilling EO can cause a lot of future problems including leaking gaskets, sluggish performance, etc. Not to mention extremely jerky when starting engine braking (0-5% throttle). Great sound (if you like loud farting) but bad for both your wallet and the bike.

The reason why they say the bike "is prone to consume oil" is due to their own ill maintenence practises. Sounds like profiteering to me, which is why I let Planet service my bike.

You need to have insurance before you can transfer a bike to your name, unless it is laid up.

Hi guys I need your guys expertise view on this.

Is it worth to change my current old ta200 to a 1 years old fire edition ta200. My bike shop just got a reposses fire edition ta200. He is selling me at 5500 on the road. Where he told me he will take in my 8 yrs old phathom at 1300. I'm very tempting to change it but do you guys feel it's worth it? Thanks

In my opinion it would depend on the condition of your current bike. You don't see a lot of PKs shopping for newer Phantoms because they've customised and tuned their rides to their liking and they will last a very long time indeed.

So unless I have a hopelessly problematic machine I would not trade in for a newer bike of the same model. For that kind of money I'd rather shop for a newer and more hi-tech motorcycle or better yet get a 2A cruiser.

Save tat cash for your next bike better. Older phantom look nicer thou.

Take in your 8years old phantom for $1300 is reasonable. Assuming yours is stock bike la... a 1year old Fire Edition for 5.5K is not that good offer though... end up you still gotta top up 4.2K :sian:

You ask him to lower to 3.6K top-up for the Fire Ed lor, provided its previous user did not trash it, then its worth it. Since its 1 year old bike , dont need go inspection for 2 years = save $36 and a few hours also ! but insurance might increase abit due to newer bike...

Personally , i will just keep the old phantom if it works fine...
