Bro, there's a quick release for the E21 and can only be release using the key provided. You can dismount/mount the boxes to clean/wash your bike easily. These boxes will not get in the way of the pillion and infact the pillion feels safer with them on, jokes aside! Somehow, they feel that they are protected! I recently 'buang' while turning a corner and the crashbar and my side box helped heaps! They supported my bike which slided off my leg with only light abrasion on my elbow! Can you believe it that the box is so tough that I'm still using it? Anyway, to cut the story short, it's WORTH IT! Here's a picture of my side and top boxes to help you visualise the sitting arrangement.

What pureice68 went thru convinced me to get side boxes.

 

And my wife's comments was that it does make her feel more secured when i pillon her.

 

So get it for safety.

 

 

My advise for the top box is to get something bigger if you're thinking of getting FF helmets, maybe at least 50litre and above. I'm stuck as I'm using Kappa 42 which can only hold 1 FF.

 

For your reference, i am using a Zues 47l box which can holds my FF5 and a open face.

As for the top box, think need at least 52L for 2 FF, but if got side box, definitely can have that size.

well... we can mount top box at the side too... although not recommended...

Thanks for the advise guys, I just installed my Givi sideboxes last night. =) It feels great having so much more storage space. Only thing is from now on my pillon will get crampy legs.. My bike's a bit greasy now, you guys having a bike wash soon??

how small are Madman (pinkphantom) small saddlebags? 12 inches length 7 inches wide?

 

I wonder if they can fit in front of the pair of E21s, mounted under the "driver's" seat.

frm wad i hear about e21 is tt pillion will feel more "secure" did u relocate ur signal lights? u might want to do tt so u could move ur side box further back for more leg room for ur pillion

Errm just put the FF side and you can put 2 FF inside just some 2cent thots..

Cause i put 1 FF and 1 normal inside my top box..

First pump after fitting sideboxes ... FC dropped from 44km/l to 41km/l ... well , its ok for the convenience it brings.

All that "in-case-of-emergency stuff" is nice to have, but 99% of the time, it is junk & adds weight to your ride.

 

I used to not even carry a raincoat with me, much less spare parts.

not true... when I was doing my dispatch job, I snapped my clutch cable... without my spare I would probably be fired on the spot...

Agree, that was the only time it came in handy. The rest of the time, it is deadweight (although not much)

Yes I did. I had them custom made.

there is no off the shelf method, the closest is u buy some L-bracket off the shelf and u DIY to fit, other than that custom made is the next although its expensive but the quality is solid...

I cashed in on a personal favour from someone that had lobang. It was very well made & would have cost a ridiculous amount if I was charged for it. that I can't share.

Sliding distance of about 10-12m in total but my box only suffered slight scratches!! Seeing is believing!!

Yes, I have heard a number of stories now regarding the surprising ballistic toughness of our side boxes. Do ride safe!

 

I might inspect the locking/attachment points for any damage after the spill; don't want to have a box flying off when you hit a high speed bump.
